Chapter 5 - Hero vs Villain

The training facility buzzed with electric anticipation as Class 1-A crowded around the massive monitoring system. Every student pressed closer to the screens, their conversations a mix of excitement and nervous energy as they prepared to witness their first real combat exercise.

"Team A versus Team B," Present Mic's voice crackled through the speakers, his enthusiasm infectious even through the intercom system. "Heroes Midoriya and Uraraka going up against villains Bakugo and Iida! This is gonna be one explosive matchup, listeners!"

All Might stood at the center of the observation room, his cape billowing dramatically despite the complete absence of any wind. His smile was as brilliant as ever, but those who knew him well might have caught the slight tension around his eyes as he watched Izuku's image on the monitor.

"THIS IS SIMPLE!" All Might's voice boomed through both the observation room and the training building itself. "HEROES MUST SECURE THE NUCLEAR WEAPON! VILLAINS MUST PROTECT IT AT ALL COSTS! REMEMBER—THIS IS REAL COMBAT TRAINING! FIGHT LIKE YOUR LIVES DEPEND ON IT!"

He raised his massive fist toward the ceiling. "GO BEYOND! PLUS ULTRA!"

The timer flashed red and began its countdown: 15:00... 14:59... 14:58...

## The Calm Before the Storm

Inside the mock building, the atmosphere was thick with tension. The structure itself was a maze of corridors, stairwells, and rooms designed to simulate urban combat scenarios. Reinforced walls could withstand significant quirk-based damage, but the narrow hallways would force confrontations into close quarters.

Izuku crouched beside Uraraka in the building's main entrance, his mind racing through tactical possibilities. His new hero costume felt strange but reassuring—the reinforced fabric designed to channel his fire quirk, the weighted gloves that would help him control One For All's power, the aerodynamic design that would complement his mobility.

"Okay," he whispered, pulling out a small notebook filled with building schematics and tactical notes. "Iida's probably fortifying the bomb room on the fourth floor. He's methodical, strategic—he'll set up defensive positions and wait for us to come to him."

Uraraka nodded, her own costume's gravity-defying capabilities already making her feel lighter on her feet. "And Bakugo?"

Izuku's expression darkened. "Bakugo won't wait. He's coming for me specifically. This isn't just a training exercise for him—it's personal."

As if summoned by his words, a distant explosion echoed through the building's steel framework. Both students tensed, their muscles coiling like springs ready to release.

"He's already moving," Izuku said grimly. "We need to—"

The wall behind them exploded.

## The Villain's Hunt

Concrete and rebar erupted inward as Katsuki Bakugo burst through the reinforced barrier like a human missile. His villain costume was a perfect reflection of his personality—aggressive, military-inspired, with oversized gauntlets designed to store and amplify his explosive sweat. But it was his expression that truly embodied the villain role: eyes wild with predatory hunger, a savage grin splitting his face as he spotted his target.

"THERE YOU ARE, YOU DAMN NERD!" Bakugo roared, his voice echoing through the corridor with enough force to rattle the windows. "FORGET THE STUPID BOMB—I'M TAKING YOU OUT FIRST!"

His palms were already crackling with stored nitroglycerin, small explosions popping like firecrackers as his quirk responded to his emotional state. This wasn't the controlled, calculated aggression of a trained hero—this was the raw fury of someone who had been carrying a grudge for over a decade.

Izuku barely managed to roll aside as Bakugo launched himself forward, using controlled explosions to rocket through the narrow hallway. The blonde's movements were fluid and practiced, each blast precisely calculated to maintain momentum while maximizing destructive force.

"Uraraka—go!" Izuku shouted over the chaos, his tactical mind already shifting into high gear. "Get to the bomb room! I'll hold him off!"

"But Midoriya—"

"GO!" The authority in his voice surprised even him. "This is what we trained for!"

Uraraka hesitated for only a moment before activating her quirk and floating herself toward a ventilation shaft. Her tactical mind was working too—if Bakugo was fixated on Izuku, she could use that obsession to complete their objective.

Alone now with his childhood tormentor, Izuku felt the familiar weight of years of abuse settling on his shoulders. But something was different now. He wasn't the quirkless, powerless boy who had endured Bakugo's cruelty in silence. He was a student at U.A., the inheritor of One For All, and someone who had sworn to become a hero.

## The Awakening Rage

"You think you're hot shit now, don't you, Deku?" Bakugo snarled, his gauntlets scraping against the concrete walls as he advanced. "Got yourself some flashy quirk and suddenly you think you can stand on the same level as me?"

The blonde's voice carried more than just anger—there was genuine pain there, confusion and hurt wrapped up in explosive fury. For years, Bakugo had defined himself as the strong one, the chosen one, the future Number One Hero. Izuku's sudden emergence as a rival threatened everything he believed about himself and the world.

"I never wanted to compete with you, Kacchan," Izuku said quietly, his hands beginning to glow with residual heat. "I just wanted to be a hero."

"LIAR!" Bakugo's explosion shattered a section of the wall, chunks of concrete raining down between them. "You've been looking down on me this whole time! Acting like you're better, like you understand something I don't!"

The accusation hit Izuku like a physical blow. Looking down on Bakugo? The boy who had tormented him, who had told him to jump off a building, who had made his life a living hell for years? The sheer impossibility of the claim should have been laughable.

But Izuku could see the genuine belief in Bakugo's eyes, the twisted logic that had turned admiration into hatred, strength into insecurity.

"That's not—" Izuku began, but Bakugo was already moving.

The blonde launched himself forward with his most powerful explosion yet, his gauntlets glowing white-hot as stored nitroglycerin detonated in a chain reaction. The blast was enough to level a small building, concentrated into a cone of destruction aimed directly at Izuku's chest.

And something inside Izuku snapped.

Years of suppressed anger, pain, and frustration crystallized into a single moment of pure fury. Not just at Bakugo, but at every person who had dismissed him, every teacher who had written him off, every moment when he had been made to feel worthless and unwanted.

"ENOUGH!!"

The roar that emerged from Izuku's throat was inhuman, carrying the fury of every insult endured, every dream deferred, every moment when he had been told he would never be enough. But more than that, it carried power—power that had been building inside him since the day All Might first believed in him.

Fire erupted from his lungs, but this wasn't the controlled flame he had been practicing. This was something primal and devastating, a dragon of pure thermal energy that coiled through the hallway like a living thing.

The walls glowed cherry-red as the temperature spiked beyond anything the building's climate control could handle. Paint peeled and bubbled, metal fixtures began to warp, and the very air itself seemed to catch fire as Izuku's fury given form tore through Bakugo's explosion like it was nothing more than a gentle breeze.

Bakugo's eyes widened in genuine shock—and for the first time in his life, fear. This wasn't the Deku he knew, the powerless boy who had cowered before his strength. This was something else entirely, something dangerous and uncontrolled and absolutely terrifying.

"W-What the hell...?!" Bakugo stammered, his usual arrogance cracking like a broken mask.

The fire dragon slammed into him with the force of a freight train, sending him sprawling across the concrete floor. His villain costume's heat-resistant properties were the only thing that saved him from serious burns, but even so, his gauntlets were smoking and his exposed skin was raw from the thermal assault.

## Losing Control

But Izuku wasn't finished.

Green lightning began to arc around his body as One For All responded to his emotional state, drawn out by the same fury that had unleashed his fire quirk. The inherited power flowed through his muscles like liquid electricity, enhancing every aspect of his physical capabilities beyond human limits.

He was no longer thinking tactically, no longer considering the consequences of his actions. Years of calculated restraint had given way to pure, primal aggression. His movements became fluid and predatory as he stalked toward the fallen Bakugo, each step leaving small cracks in the reinforced concrete.

"This is what you wanted, isn't it, Kacchan?" Izuku's voice was different now—deeper, carrying harmonics that seemed to resonate in the bones of anyone who heard it. "You wanted me to fight back? To stop being weak?"

His fist ignited with controlled flame as he drew back for a punch that would have shattered concrete. But Bakugo, despite his shock, was still a fighter. The blonde rolled aside and launched himself back into the air with an explosion, putting distance between himself and this transformed version of his childhood victim.

"This isn't right!" Bakugo shouted, his voice cracking with something that might have been panic. "You're not supposed to be like this! You're supposed to be weak!"

The words only fueled Izuku's rage. He leaped after Bakugo with One For All-enhanced strength, his trajectory carrying him through the air like a missile. When his flaming fist connected with Bakugo's hastily raised guard, the impact sent shockwaves through the entire building.

Windows exploded outward in showers of glass. Support beams groaned under the stress. In rooms throughout the structure, pipes burst and electrical systems sparked as the building's infrastructure struggled to cope with forces it had never been designed to handle.

## The Observer's Horror

In the observation room, the mood had shifted from excitement to concern to outright alarm. Students who had been cheering and making bets on the outcome now watched in stunned silence as the monitors showed destruction that went far beyond anything they had expected from a training exercise.

"Midoriya's power..." Kaminari whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of ongoing explosions from the training building. "It's unreal..."

"No," Aizawa said grimly, his capture weapon already shifting restlessly around his shoulders as his teacher instincts screamed warnings. "It's out of control. This isn't training anymore—this is a rampage."

The underground hero's eyes were fixed on Izuku's image, watching the way green lightning played around the boy's body, the way his movements had become fluid and inhuman. He had seen enough villains lose themselves to their quirks to recognize the signs, and what he was seeing now terrified him.

"All Might," he said urgently, turning to the Symbol of Peace. "You need to stop this. Now."

But All Might was already moving, his massive frame disappearing from the observation room in a burst of displaced air as he launched himself toward the training building at maximum speed.

## The Symbol of Peace Intervenes

All Might crashed through the building's reinforced exterior wall like it was made of paper, his arrival announced by the thunderous impact of his landing. The sight that greeted him was one of devastation—corridors filled with smoke and flame, walls cracked and crumbling, and at the center of it all, his chosen successor locked in mortal combat with his childhood rival.

"That's enough, Young Midoriya!!" All Might's voice carried the full authority of the Symbol of Peace, a command that had stopped villains and disasters across the world.

But when Izuku turned to face him, All Might felt his blood run cold.

The boy's eyes were no longer the warm green he remembered, but blazing emerald fires that seemed to burn with their own inner light. His face was a mask of fury that belonged on a predator, not a fifteen-year-old student. And the power radiating from his small frame was enough to make even All Might's enhanced senses scream warnings.

"Stay back," Izuku growled, his voice carrying harmonics that made the air itself vibrate. "This doesn't concern you."

For a moment, All Might hesitated. This wasn't his student—this was something else wearing Izuku's face, something driven by rage and pain that had been building for years.

Then his hero instincts overrode his shock, and he lunged forward to restrain the boy before anyone could be seriously hurt.

The collision was like two natural disasters meeting head-on.

Izuku met All Might's approach with a punch that combined the thermal power of his fire quirk, the enhanced strength of One For All, and the accumulated fury of a lifetime of abuse and dismissal. The impact sent shockwaves through the building's frame, and when the dust settled, All Might had been driven backward, his costume smoking and his expression one of genuine shock.

"This force..." he thought, blood roaring in his ears as he tried to process what he had just experienced. "This isn't just One For All. There's something else here, something I don't understand."

But there was no time for analysis. Izuku was already charging again, his body wreathed in green lightning and trailing flames like some mythological deity of destruction. His next punch carried enough force to shatter a city block, and All Might barely managed to get his arms up in time to block it.

The sound of the impact was like thunder, echoing through the training facility and beyond. But more terrifying than the noise was the sensation All Might felt as Izuku's enhanced strength met his own defensive posture—for the first time in years, he felt his bones strain under the impact.

CRACK!

All Might's left arm bent at an unnatural angle, the bone snapping under pressure that exceeded even his legendary durability. The Symbol of Peace staggered backward, cradling his injured limb, his mind struggling to process what had just happened.

In all his years as a hero, facing villains who could level mountains and disasters that threatened entire cities, he had never been seriously injured by a fifteen-year-old student in a training exercise.

## The Moment of Truth

The silence that followed was deafening. In the observation room, students stared at their monitors in shocked disbelief. Even Bakugo, sprawled on the ground with his costume smoking and his pride shattered, could only gape at the scene before him.

Izuku stood in the center of the rubble, his chest heaving with exertion, fire dancing around his clenched fists while green lightning continued to arc across his body. His eyes still blazed with that inhuman fury, but now there was something else there too—a flicker of awareness, as if some part of his rational mind was beginning to reassert itself.

He looked down at his hands, seeing the destruction they had wrought, then at All Might, who was struggling to stay upright with his injured arm hanging uselessly at his side.

"I..." Izuku's voice cracked, the rage-fueled harmonics fading as his human voice returned. "What did I...?"

But the damage was done. The training building was a ruin, his mentor was injured, and his classmates were staring at him with expressions that ranged from awe to fear to outright terror.

For the first time since becoming the Symbol of Peace, All Might found himself wondering if he had made a terrible mistake. One For All was supposed to be passed to someone who would use it to protect people, to inspire hope and bring peace to the world.

Looking at the destruction around him, at the fear in his students' eyes, at the inhuman power that still crackled around Izuku's small frame, All Might couldn't shake the terrifying thought that he might have chosen a successor too dangerous for the world to survive.

The age of symbols was ending, he had always known that. But as he watched Izuku struggle to regain control of powers that seemed to have a will of their own, All Might began to fear that what came next might be far more dangerous than anything that had come before.

In the observation room, twenty pairs of eyes watched their classmate with newfound wariness, and in the ruins of what had been a simple training exercise, the future of heroism itself hung in the balance.
