Near dusk, Yang Yunhai and the others returned to the academy.
"Disciple, you're back?" Chrysanthemum Douluo raised his brow from the sofa. "Just right, I have good news."
"Tang Hao came this morning," Ghost Douluo said plainly. "We already killed him."
Chrysanthemum Douluo's mouth, just opened, snapped shut again. His eyes carried a faint grievance as he glanced at his old partner.
"Hiding to launch a sneak attack!?" Dugu Bo was startled, instantly guessing the cause.
Chrysanthemum Douluo quickly inserted, regaining his sense of presence.
"This whole area is forest. Xiao Hai's Blue Silver Grass martial soul has special sensing abilities outside—it's no secret. Tang Hao naturally understood that if Xiao Hai was around, entering the forest would expose him immediately. So his only option was to sneak in while you were away and hide in advance."
"Inside the house, without Blue Silver Grass, as long as he suppressed his aura, it was indeed hard to detect."
Unfortunately for him, he thought too simply. They had already set up multiple alarm devices throughout the forest.
Most importantly, he hadn't accounted for him and Old Ghost being present.
They had expected some twists and turns, but instead, they caught him like a rabbit in a trap. An unexpected joy.
"Doesn't matter. Dead is dead," Dugu Bo said flatly.
Chrysanthemum Douluo nodded, then grinned. "We already stripped the soul bones. Come, everyone take a look."
Dugu Bo curled his lips—Chrysanthemum Douluo was obviously showing off.
Chrysanthemum Douluo raised his right palm, brushing it across the table. A row of soul bones appeared at once.
Radiant light gleamed, brimming with immense soul power or spiritual fluctuations. Everyone present widened their eyes in shock.
"An 80,000 year torso bone…" Dugu Bo instantly felt sour.
'Such a strong spiritual power fluctuation.' Yang Yunhai's gaze landed on the skull bone. Though its soul power fluctuation suggested less than 50,000 years, the intensity of its spiritual fluctuation far exceeded that.
He was nearly certain—it was an extremely rare spiritual-type soul bone.
The others: the 80,000 year torso bone likely came from Tang Hao's 8th ring. The 70,000 year right arm and left leg bones were without doubt sect inheritance bones. The 50,000 year right leg bone was harder to guess—likely from hunting a powerful beast, or perhaps taken from another soul master.
As for the last piece, the pitch-black left arm bone…
Though only around 20,000 years in fluctuation, its ferocity surpassed the others.
"Senior Yao Ling, can you tell what beast this came from?" Yang Yunhai asked through sound transmission.
"Respected one, if I'm not mistaken—it should be from a Titan Giant Ape," the Yao Ling replied.
'A Titan Giant Ape?' Yang Yunhai was shocked. Then he recalled the original records—Tang Hao was once said to have defeated one. Clearly, it wasn't Er Ming. That made sense—back then Tang Hao hadn't gone into hiding, nor broken through to Titled Douluo. A Soul Douluo could never fight Er Ming. But a 20,000 year Titan Giant Ape… blowing a ring to defeat it was plausible.
"What's with this soul bone?" Dugu Bo's voice cut in. "Why would Tang Hao absorb a 20,000 year bone?"
"Because it came from a Titan Giant Ape," Yang Yunhai explained.
"A Titan Giant Ape!" Dugu Bo's eyes widened in shock.
"Looks like it was the one Tang Hao defeated in his youth," Chrysanthemum Douluo clicked his tongue. "Didn't think it would drop a soul bone."
"In terms of strength augmentation, it might not be weaker than the 70,000 year right arm bone," Yang Yunhai said.
"No wonder Tang Hao dared to hammer Qian Xunji as soon as he broke through. Full set of soul bones, all high quality," Dugu Bo grumbled sourly, sweeping his gaze over Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo.
"Cheap luck for you two!" By prior agreement, Tang Hao's soul bones belonged to Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo.
"Perhaps it's just fate. Who told him to run into Old Ghost and me?" Chrysanthemum Douluo chuckled.
Clearly, the soul bones had affinity with them.
Yang Yunhai smiled. "Teacher, Martial Uncle, go ahead and split them."
Ghost Douluo nodded and moved first, taking the skull bone and right arm bone. "Yue Guan, you take the rest."
Chrysanthemum Douluo froze, looking at him.
"I'm agility type—leg bones don't suit me. Arm bone strengthens close combat, and torso bone would be wasted on me. You're power attack type, more fitting," Ghost Douluo explained.
"As for the skull, I'm fairly certain it came from a spiritual beast. Though under 50,000 years, its spiritual boost won't be weaker than that. My ghostly martial soul is vulnerable to spiritual and holy attributes. This soul bone can shore up my biggest weakness."
His martial soul feared no physical strikes—but spiritual or holy power, such as from the Six-Winged Angel, could wound his very soul.
"Old Ghost…" Chrysanthemum Douluo was touched.
"I already have a right leg bone and left arm bone," Ghost Douluo added.
"Say, can becoming a god change someone's gender?" Dugu Bo suddenly piped up. "Feels like you two could become a real couple."
"You two are so nauseating—it's a shame you're not married."
"Scram!" Chrysanthemum Douluo shivered, goosebumps rising, glaring furiously.
Ghost Douluo's face went black as well.
Yang Yunhai glanced at them, recalling Tang San's ridiculous stunt in the Love Valley.
"Ahem." Dugu Bo coughed. "Go absorb the bones already."
"And Tang Hao's corpse—still intact, right?"
"Naturally," Chrysanthemum Douluo's expression grew serious. He explained their earlier plan.
"Just what I was thinking too," Dugu Bo nodded. "But a play must be done thoroughly. Time isn't right yet—far too early for Tang Hao to act. You two absorb the bones first. Later, I'll head to the palace."
"Alright." Ghost Douluo nodded, carrying the bones to a room. Chrysanthemum Douluo followed.
With their cultivation, it didn't take long. After three hours, both returned, having fully absorbed. Ghost Douluo needed only two bones. Chrysanthemum Douluo had four, including the 80,000 year torso bone, taking more time.
"Old Ghost, what ability did your skull bone give?" Chrysanthemum Douluo asked as soon as they met again.
Yang Yunhai smiled—he understood the excitement.
Head bones were different from the others. Torso and limb bones strengthened body and combat. Skull bones were often functional, sometimes even more precious, regardless of age.
Even a 20,000 year piece, if perfectly suited, could rival a 100,000 year soul bone in value.
"Spiritual Immunity," Ghost Douluo said calmly. "Maybe useless to others, but perfect for me. It has limits, but with my rank 98 cultivation and strong spiritual power, it can block most spiritual attacks."
'No wonder Tang Hao survived the Hell Road. This must've been given by the sect,' Yang Yunhai thought.
"Not bad," Chrysanthemum Douluo grinned. "And I reached rank 98 too."
Thanks to Tang Hao's donation!
Dugu Bo was jealous—still only rank 96. He snorted. "Cough. I'll take Tang Hao's corpse to the palace. Let Xue Ye see."
"Xue'er has a child in her belly. Best not disturb her tonight."
"Fine."
Soon after, in the back mountain of the academy, a mighty burst of soul power shook the air.
"What happened?!" Teachers and students awoke. Meng Shenshou's face paled as he rushed toward the forest.
Under the moonlight, they saw a streak of flowing light—it was Principal Dugu Bo.
