Chapter 144 - 144: Killing the Elders (6/?)

Across the vast frozen battlefield, the United Army erupted in renewed hope. Above them, a colossal axe formed entirely of Conqueror's Haki shimmered in the hands of Saint Peter, one of the Gorosei. The weapon pulsed with divine fury, splitting the clouds apart.

Kaido bellowed, eyes gleaming with savage excitement.

"Now that monster's finally finished!" Big Mom cackled, her thunderous laughter echoing across the ice.

The Admirals shared in the exhilaration. They had all suffered bitterly at Thorne Ashveil's hands, and now, seeing a godlike power rise against him reignited their fighting spirit.

The reason was simple: Ashveil's mastery of Conqueror's Haki Infusion had made him nearly invincible. Both his offense and defense were flawless. But now, one of the Gorosei had matched that same power—restoring the army's lost faith.

"Excellent," Aokiji said with a rare smile, frost forming on his breath. "This time, we can finally win."

Ashveil had long been declared the most dangerous man in the world. If there was even a slim chance to kill him, the World Government would not let it slip away.

---

Across the globe, the world trembled in awe.

"I never imagined that even now, the final victor might still be the World Government!" Dragon growled from the Revolutionary Army's hidden base.

"That man, Ashveil, has already come so far," Ivankov sighed.

Meanwhile, aboard the Red Force, the senior officers of the Red Hair Pirates exchanged grim looks.

"Shanks, I never expected that even among the Gorosei, there'd be one who can control Conqueror's Haki so precisely," Yasopp said darkly.

"Is Ashveil really about to fall?" Lucky Roux muttered.

Benn Beckman exhaled a slow stream of smoke. "If that man survives this battle… he'll surpass every legend before him."

Shanks remained silent for a long moment, eyes narrowed as he watched the flickering light from the axe illuminate the distant sea.

"In my opinion," he said quietly, "the outcome isn't decided yet."

---

Back on the battlefield, Saint Peter's voice thundered across the sky.

"I'll shatter his defense! The rest of you, strike immediately! He cannot be allowed to live!"

Among the Gorosei, Saint Peter had been closest to Saint Mars, who had already fallen to Ashveil. Consumed by fury, he now unleashed everything.

With a deafening boom, the colossal axe of Conqueror's Haki fell toward Ashveil like a divine punishment, tearing open the very air.

Boom!

A blinding explosion erupted beside Ashveil. The shockwave shook the world itself.

The frozen sea split in two, the ice sheet breaking apart down to the depths of the ocean. Even the waters beneath were cleaved, leaving a rift so vast it seemed to divide the sea itself.

Birds and sea beasts fled in panic, vanishing into the horizon. The battlefield became chaos incarnate, ice shards raining from the heavens like a storm of blades.

From above, Saint Peter roared triumphantly, "His defense is broken!"

He raised his hand, voice echoing like thunder.

"All forces—attack Thorne Ashveil now!"

Instantly, the entire United Army surged into action. Every commander, pirate, and Marine unleashed their full power in a coordinated strike toward the epicenter of the destruction.

The air howled. The ice groaned. Ashveil's location was hidden under debris, but it didn't matter—they aimed to annihilate everything within reach.

Saint Warcury and Saint Peter, standing closest to the impact zone, struck first. Their bodies burned with Armament Haki and Conqueror's Haki, fists and legs wreathed in energy so dense that the air itself caught fire.

Every strike birthed roaring flames in the shape of beasts, surging toward Ashveil's last known position.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The ice burst apart once more, sending molten water and shards of frozen earth spiraling upward. The heat and pressure boiled the sea itself.

The world watched in terror. No one had ever seen such destruction.

"This is madness," someone whispered through a Den Den Mushi broadcast.

Even Kong could only stare grimly. "The power generated by burning Conqueror's Haki… is truly beyond comprehension."

Attack after attack rained down. None of the combatants cared about their stamina or safety anymore. All that mattered was killing Ashveil.

Kaido entered his Dragon-Human form, muscles bulging as purple lightning coiled around his club.

Big Mom drew Napoleon, imbuing the blade with Zeus's thunder.

"Hakai!" they roared together.

A single slash ripped across the sky, tearing through clouds and sea alike.

"This time, we'll finish you, Ashveil!" Kaido howled.

"Mamamama! With that much firepower, even you can't withstand it!" Big Mom shouted, her eyes blazing. "You should never have claimed Fish-Man Island as your own!"

The truth spilled out—Big Mom had long coveted Fish-Man Island. She had planned to seize it while Whitebeard's forces clashed with the Marines. But Ashveil had ruined everything.

That humiliation had never been forgotten. Now, vengeance burned hotter than her lightning.

---

Sengoku, Kong, and Garp joined the assault.

Sengoku transformed into a towering golden Buddha, chanting under his breath as shockwaves of divine light exploded from his palms.

Kong and Garp charged beside him, fists glowing black with Armament Haki, striking with enough force to push back the ocean itself.

The Admirals followed.

Kizaru unleashed blinding light blasts, his face twisted with uncharacteristic fury.

"Yasakani no Magatama!" he cried, firing a storm of golden orbs.

Even the lazy admiral fought like a man possessed, draining his stamina to the last spark.

"If we can't kill him now," Aokiji said coldly, "then we never will."

A surge of frost spread across the battlefield, freezing even the air itself.

Fujitora, Tokikake, and Shiryu slashed toward Ashveil's position.

The agents of CP0 unleashed countless Rankyaku blades, distorting space as they ripped through the storm.

From the skies, King unleashed flames unique to his race, while Katakuri launched mochi-formed fists wrapped in Armament Haki, pounding the earth below.

The technological divisions followed, firing artillery beams and energy cannons toward the same point.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

The sound was deafening. Explosions tore apart the sky, shockwaves boiling the sea. The massive ice layer—tens of thousands of meters thick—finally collapsed, sinking into the depths.

Black smoke covered the horizon, rising like volcanic ash. The sun vanished. Darkness swallowed everything.

The heavens and earth seemed to fall into ruin.

---

On the outskirts, the Whitebeard Pirates watched in shock as the sea churned violently around them.

"Mihawk, you bastard!" Doflamingo roared, veins bulging. "How can you still say Ashveil can survive this?!"

The tension was suffocating. If Ashveil died, they would be next.

The wrath of the Marines and World Government would consume them all. Even Doflamingo's Celestial Dragon heritage couldn't save him now.

Whitebeard slammed his bisento into the deck, his deep voice steady despite the chaos.

"Quiet, my sons. All hands—prepare to move. We're saving Ashveil."

"Charge!"

The Moby Dick and her fleet surged forward, cutting through the raging waves.

But before they could reach the battlefield, the sea itself seemed to pause.

Every man aboard froze as their eyes widened in disbelief.

"Pops… look!" Marco shouted. "Ashveil—he's completely unharmed!"

The Whitebeard Pirates stared in stunned silence. Not a single scratch. Not a drop of blood.

Thorne Ashveil stood amidst the storm, unyielding.
