Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

15: Price of the Blood Moon

His claws shook as Marcus swung wildly, but Logan was too strong. The bigger wolf slammed him into the dirt, fangs snapping just inches from Marcus's throat. His ribs cracked under the weight, healing just as quickly as they broke, but it was clear: Marcus was losing.

From the treeline, Vasco's fists tightened.

Vasco: (gritting his teeth) "The little one. he saved us."

Jace: (eyes darting between the monsters) "Vasco, don't—"

Vasco: (picking up a rock) "If he's trying to protect us, I'll protect him too."

He threw the rock as hard as he could. It hit Logan's broad, fur-covered shoulder and barely slowed him. The beast turned, eyes ablaze, and snarled at Vasco like prey.

Logan leapt forward—fangs bared.

Jace: (yelling) "Vasco, MOVE!"

But before the monster could attack, a third wolf appeared.

The Intruder

Thin, underfed, its yellow eyes not as bright as Marcus's nor Logan's, it was indeed the same wolf that had bitten Marcus days ago. The weakened animal sliced at Logan's side, snarling in desperation.

But Logan was merciless. In one brutal swipe, he ripped open the smaller wolf's throat. The creature collapsed, gurgling, its blood soaking the dirt. It didn't rise again.

Jace: He just… killed it. Like it was nothing.

Logan turned back, his hunger redoubled.

Police Intervention

The clearing exploded in red and blue lights.

"FREEZE! HANDS IN THE AIR!"

A squad of police officers appeared, weapons raised. Gunfire erupted, the bullets slamming into Logan's massive body. He staggered back, yelping in fury-then the impossible happened. The rounds slid out of his flesh, clinking to the ground as his wounds knitted shut.

Policeman: (panicking) "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!"

Logan roared and leapt, grabbing a female cop and tearing her gun away before his jaws sank into her shoulder. She screamed in agony.

But before he could finish her, Marcus slammed into him from behind.

Marcus's Frenzy

The eyes of the smaller wolf seemed to burn as he ripped into Logan with everything in him. Claws shredded fur; fangs tore muscle. He didn't stop, didn't stop slashing and biting, until the forest floor shook with every impact.

For the first time, Logan stumbled. His gigantic body wavered under Marcus's non-stop attack. He attempted to rise, but Marcus drove him down with a brutal bite to the neck and continued tearing into him until the bigger wolf collapsed—unconscious.

Aftermath

The police retreated, their eyes and bodies shaking, tugging the injured officer along.

Officer: (yelling) "Fall back! FALL BACK! This isn't human!"

Sirens faded as they sped away.

The shaken Vasco and Jace had already run off, their silence heavy with fear and disbelief.

Marcus stood over Logan's fallen wolf form, panting, his claws dripping with blood. Then his instincts screamed at him-he had to go.

Before Logan's body shifted back into his human self, Marcus bolted into the shadows, his massive frame melting into the night. And the glade was silent again. Except for the body of the weak wolf. And unconscious Logan, now human once more, lying in the dirt.
