Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

The Detective Problem

That night, Marcus lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling. The memory of Detective Han So-Ra's sharp gaze still lingered. She had gotten too close. If she kept digging, she'd find the truth.

And worse, she had seen things no human should survive.

She'd kill if she lost control to the wolf inside her.

Marcus tightened his fists.

Marcus: "I can't have her running wild. If Logan made her this way, then it's his responsibility to clean it up. And maybe… maybe this is my chance. I always wanted someone under me-someone strong, someone useful. If I play this right, she won't just survive. She'll belong to me."

Ordering Logan

The next day, after classes, Marcus pulled Logan into a deserted alley behind the gym.

Marcus: "I've got a job for you, find the detective, deal with her before she loses it."

Logan: (snarling) "The hell? Why me?"

Marcus: "Because you bit her, idiot. You started this."

Logan: (snapping) "She came at me first! You think I wanted to taste some cop? She shot me, I was starving, and—"

Marcus: (cutting him off, eyes flashing red) "I don't care. You bit her, she's your problem. Handle it."

Logan stiffened, his body betraying him, but his anger was hotter than ever.

Logan: (growling through his teeth) "Tch… you really think you can order me around like some mutt? I'm not your damn servant, punk."

Marcus: (taking a step closer, voice low and dangerous) "No, you're worse. You're mine."

The invisible force hauled Logan again. His knees almost buckled before he caught himself, sweat dripping from his forehead. His chest was heavy with rage, but the defiance in his eyes was unmistakable.

Logan: "One of these days, Marcus… I'm gonna rip that smug look off your face. You hear me? I'll never bow to you for real."

Marcus: (smirking) "Until that day, you'll do what I say. Find her. Deal with her. Or I'll make sure next time you're the one on your knees in front of everyone."

Logan cursed under his breath, punching the wall so hard the brick cracked. Then he turned and stormed off.

Meanwhile – Detective Han So-Ra

Seated on the edge of her bed at the hospital, So-Ra stared at the shoulder that was already healed in the mirror. Her reflection was pale, the veins beneath her skin pulsing faintly. She'd been trying to ignore the cravings all day, but the smell of meat wafting from the cafeteria downstairs had driven her crazy.

Han So-Ra (to herself): "What's happening to me? No.I already know. That boy, that.thing. He bit me. And now."

Her phone buzzed. A message from her precinct. Another "animal attack" had happened. Another body torn apart. She clenched her fists. Han So-Ra: "If I don't get control soon… I'm next. Or worse—I'll be the one doing it." Back in his room, Marcus sat back in his chair, smirking slightly. Marcus: "Let's see how useful you really are, Logan. Bring her to me alive… and maybe I'll finally have what I always wanted."
