Chapter 33 - Drum Island

"Shhh, damn, it's freezing!" Rody thought as he spotted Drum Island slowly approaching.

"Hmmm, is this Drum Island? It's quite peculiar," Rody murmured, taking in the enormous, drum-shaped mountains covered in snow.

Drum Island is a completely wintry island located in the Grand Line's Paradise. It's entirely covered in snow, and its most distinctive feature is the series of enormous mountains that resemble drums; hence its name, Drum Island.

"Watch out for the ice around the island!" Nami exclaimed, seeing how intense the winter cold was on the island, to the point that it had even frozen part of the sea.

"Yes, Miss Nami!" Leo and José exclaimed, and they quickly moved to shovel the ice from the sides of the ship.

"By the way, Rody, weren't we going to Alabasta? Why did we stop on this frozen island?" Nami asked curiously.

"Hmm, well, there's a Devil Fruit here that interests me. Its ability is truly amazing. I want to try and retrieve it," Rody replied calmly.

"Will we be staying here long, Rody? It's freezing! I really don't like this weather!" Nami said dejectedly, rubbing her body to ward off the chill.

Rody remembered that Nami certainly didn't like these frigid climates at all. She preferred warmer, cooler weather, so he understood why she wanted to leave.

"I won't be long," Rody replied with a dismissive gesture.

"I see." Nami turned to look at Vivi and said somewhat shyly, "I'm sorry, Vivi. Rody wants to make a stop on this island to look for something he's interested in, so we'll have to wait a while. But… Vivi, don't worry, Rody assured me we won't be long."

Vivi also looked at Nami, nodded, and said, waving her hands shyly, "Okay, okay. Since it's important to Lord Rody, we can wait, so there's no problem. Besides, the current situation in Alabasta isn't very tense, so it doesn't matter if we come back later. And, Nami, you don't have to apologize to me. Aren't we friends?"

"Hehehe, Vivi-chan, right, right, we're friends, hehehe!" Nami smiled playfully as she hugged Vivi and started chatting with her.

Seeing this interaction, Rody didn't know what to say. She couldn't understand how these two women had become such good friends in just a few days. In the end, she didn't understand and shook her head, not dwelling on the matter any further.

...

A while later, the ship slowly docked on the island's shore without incident, and Rody and her group disembarked.

"Ugh, this Drum Island is so freezing, Rody! I don't like this place at all!" As soon as they stepped off the boat, Nami hugged Rody's arm tightly, as if that could warm her up, and immediately complained in a tone full of disgust.

"Yes, it's so cold here. In a place as cold as this, not even a passionate girl like me can burn with passion," lamented Carmen, whose initial enthusiasm had faded due to the icy wind and snowy landscape of Drum Island.

"Ah... achoo! Master Carmen, it's best if we don't go onto the island. Let's stay inland. I really can't stand this cold. Besides, I'm sure there aren't any good ingredients in such a cold place," Leo and José sneezed in unison, complaining about the cold.

"Nami, if you want to sail the Grand Line without problems, you must overcome these obstacles," said Rody, ruffling Nami's orange hair.

" Rody reminded them that the islands of the Grand Line are divided into four categories: Spring Islands, Summer Islands, Autumn Islands, and Winter Islands. Furthermore, each of these islands has its own four seasons. If you want to sail the Grand Line, you must experience at least 16 seasons, from summer on the Summer Island to winter on the Winter Island. In addition, there are many islands with unknown climates that cannot be classified into any of the four mentioned types.

If Nami wants to sail the Grand Line smoothly and reach her full potential as in the manga, she must overcome these difficulties. Even if they arrive late to their destinations, Rody doesn't mind as long as she adapts to the Grand Line. After all, once they leave the first half of the Grand Line and set sail for the New World, the weather will become even more chaotic and strange.

"Who are you, you bastard?"

"Get out of here. You're not welcome."

"If you don't leave, we'll shoot."

"If you don't leave, we'll shoot." Just as they were about to enter the island, many inhabitants of Drum Island emerged from the snow, armed with muskets and other weapons. They quickly approached the shore on both sides of the boat, blocking Rody and his group's path. There were about a dozen of them. Among them, a tall man dressed in green stood out because of his aura. He stepped forward and said to them in a grave voice:

"Strangers, you are not welcome here. Get out!"

...

Hey, don't you want to live anymore? Do you know who our captain is? Our captain is the infamous Rody the Killer!

"If you know what's good for you, get out of the way. Otherwise, when our captain gets angry, you'll be dead," Bumblebee said loudly to the islanders, hands on his hips, as if bragging about Rody was bragging about himself.

...

Rody was speechless. To be honest, that nickname, Rody the Killer, was a little embarrassing; he didn't like being called that at all. In the end, he sighed inwardly and said nothing.

"He's... he's Rody the Killer, whose bounty is 50 million Baileys."

"Damn, damn, what bad luck. Rody the Killer. I've heard of this guy. Rumor has it he kills people when he's in a bad mood." "They say he's killed tens of thousands of people since he set sail." The inhabitants of Drum Island looked at Rody nervously and began to murmur fearfully.

Hearing Bee's arrogant words, the man in green was initially stunned, then he looked at Rody with a serious expression: "You're Rody the Killer, with a 50 million Bailey bounty on your head, all the more reason not to let you in. You're a very dangerous fellow, so we can't allow you to set foot on the island." The man in green then pulled an oval-shaped weapon with sharp blades on both sides from his back, gripped it, and pointed it at Rody, glaring at him.

Rody was already impatient seeing that mass of creatures blocking his path, and even more so when one of these peasants called him a bastard. When in his life had anyone ever called him that? He was about to unleash a massive slash to cut these scumbags into hundreds of pieces, but at that moment Nami grabbed his arm and looked at him with pleading eyes.

"Tch!" Rody muttered.

DISAMLET

SWIISH

CLICK

Rody waved his hand impatiently, and the next instant, an immense force cracked the ground and rocks beneath the feet of the Drum Island inhabitants surrounding Rody and the others. Suddenly, they lost their balance and fell to the ground like dominoes. Shards of stone slammed them against the ground, bruising their faces. Many had bloody heads and writhed and groaned in pain on the ground.

As for the guy who had called Rody a bastard, he received special treatment. A sharp rock pierced his eye, then his brain, finally ending his life in the most miserable way.

The group walked among the inhabitants who writhed on the ground with indifference. Bumblebee, seeing this, said ruefully, "I told you to get out of the way, but you wouldn't listen, and now you're suffering!"

Nami watched the scene and sighed in relief. Luckily, Rody had held back; otherwise, they all would have died miserably, leaving practically no intact bodies. As for the guy who called Rody a bastard and died with a rock embedded in his skull, well, Nami could only apologize. Sometimes, having a sharp tongue without knowing who's in front of you doesn't lead to anything good.

At that moment, the man in green from before, who had been leading the crowd, slowly rose from the rubble and said, "You're too dangerous. Even if it costs me my life, I will never let you onto the island."

With that, the man's body began to transform. He grew taller, his muscles bulged and swelled enormously, his feet turned into hooves, he sprouted two bison horns, and his entire body was covered in... Black fur

Rody raised an eyebrow in interest. He had completely forgotten that there was also a Zoan-type on this island.

"Oh, so you're a Zoan-type. That's really interesting. Judging by your appearance, are you a buffalo or a bison, perhaps?" Rody became intrigued, took a step forward, formed a hand seal, and instantly, a black panther emerged from his shadow.

"Kuro Hyou"

The next instant, the black panther's body transformed with lightning speed; in the blink of an eye, it shifted from its beast form to its human/beast form.

SORU!

SWOOSH!

Ignoring the fact that the man in green was prepared, the black panther, its eyes red and filled with madness, slammed its foot ten times in quick succession and lunged at the bison-man with murderous intent.

"Too fast!" exclaimed the surprised man. "I have to block!"

Before Before he could react, the panther, its leg outstretched, delivered a brutal kick to his abdomen. The instant the bison man was kicked, he felt as if he'd been struck by an iron bar weighing hundreds of tons. His face contorted in pain, his head snapped back from the force of the impact, and the next instant he tasted rust in his throat and spat out a large stream of blood.

BOOM!

The bison man was flung backward like a comet and crashed into the forest, tearing through several trees.

BANG

BANG

BANG

The bison man's body continued flying and breaking hundreds of trees in its path. At that moment the man did not know how many bones that strange creature had broken.

Before he could recover and try to stop flying and crossing trees, he caught a glimpse of how that creature had arrived at his side.

The black panther, filled with murderous intent, clenched his fist tightly to the point that the muscles in his right hand swelled from the accumulated force.

BOOM!

The black panther mercilessly struck the bison man's face, deforming it.

CLICK

The man's nose broke into pieces, causing blood to flow uncontrollably staining the black panther shikigami's fist. The black panther, upon feeling that sensation of bones being shattered, far from stopping, became even more excited, his eyes already full of madness, became more merciless.

Before the man was sent flying due to his fist, he caught the man's face with his large palm, dug his paws into the snow until he reached the ground, and stopped his run suddenly, causing the ground to shatter due to the speed at which he was moving.

The shikigami panther created by Rody tightly grabbed the bison man's face, lifted him into the air, and brutally threw him to the ground.

BOOOOM

CLICK

The ground cracked, the snow kicked up, and the dust began to rise.

"KUaaaagh!" The bison man spat out another stream of blood, but the panther shikigami did not stop there, he picked him up again and mercilessly began to hit him successively against the ground.

BAAAM

BAAAM

BAAAM

The sounds of impacts, bones breaking, and the ground creaking echoed in the snowy forest.

At this moment, the black panther shikigami's face and hands were stained with blood, making him look extremely terrifying along with his red eyes.

Seeing the man under his feet trampled with his claws and who had lost his bison man form, the black panetra extended his finger ready to pierce his brain with a finger gun, but before his finger touched his forehead, an order came to his mind.

Understanding the order, his finger turned into a palm, he held the dying and bloody man's face and brought him back to Rody.

...

Seeing the man covered in blood under his feet and with hundreds of broken bones, Rody frowned. "Wasn't he a Zoan type? Why does this guy look so bad? Aren't Zoan types supposed to be tough? What's going on here?" Rody thought strangely.

Rody looked at the black panther shikigami next to him who was licking his paws like a kitten to clean the blood and thought, "It's not that the guy is weak, it's that this shikigami is too strong, I wonder if he can fuse with other shikigami!" Rody rubbed his chin and glimpsed that possibility.
