She shifted on the bed, her hands twisting in the sheets. That confidence from earlier? It was cracking already. Good. Let her feel it.
I stared at her harder, letting the weight of my gaze pin her down even if she couldn't see it. My chest tightened, heat building low in my gut. "I'll show you how much of a man I am."
She shook her head, quick and desperate. Her earlier fire was gone, snuffed out like a candle in the wind. She looked like a scared little mouse now, huddled there, her blind eyes filled with shock. Her lips parted, but no words came. Just a soft, shaky breath.
