Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Monster

The meeting ended on a bad note.

At least, from Reyes's point of view.

As for Morin-and Gisele, who was posing as his secretary-it was a complete success.

"Wine glasses. Napkins. Preliminary letter of intent." Morin took the UV flashlight a subordinate handed him.

He swept the light over the items.

Palm prints appeared immediately.

Clear. Complete.

Every surface had been specially treated beforehand. Reyes's prints were left everywhere.

"Left hand, right hand. Multiple samples of each." Morin tilted the flashlight slightly. "Is this enough?"

"It's more than enough," Gisele said, unable to hide her excitement.

-

The next day.

"I got the palm prints."

Gisele returned to the abandoned factory around noon. She handed several vacuum-sealed bags to Tej.

Inside were the items.

Tej took them and examined each one.

"Wine glasses. Napkins..." He paused. "What's this? A preliminary letter of intent?"

He looked up.

"What did you do? Go into business with Reyes?"

"No," Gisele replied. "I asked Morin for help. He handled the business side."

She turned on a UV lamp.

Palm prints surfaced instantly.

"So the problem's solved." She exhaled. "I'm tired. I'm going to rest."

"I have a feeling it wasn't that simple," Roman said, narrowing his eyes.

He leaned closer to Tej and lowered his voice as he watched Gisele walk away.

"Did you notice?"

"Of course I noticed," Tej said irritably. "I'm not blind. That limp was obvious."

He frowned.

"That guy is really that... powerful?"

"Which kind of powerful?" Roman asked, his tone loaded with meaning.

His grin could only be described as lewd.

"That kind," Tej replied, raising an eyebrow with a matching expression.

Gisele returned to her room.

She lay down.

And fell asleep almost instantly.

"He's a complete monster..." she murmured unconsciously.

-

Elsewhere, Morin looked refreshed.

He tossed a full memory card into his safe.

Last night, someone had badly overestimated themselves.

Morin had put in a bit of effort, successfully won them over, and received a full memory card as a souvenir.

It wasn't a fetish.

He just thought it might be interesting in the future.

After all, if he ever met the same person in another world...

Showing them these videos or photos would be entertaining.

For example, letting Wonder Woman see how "she herself" once complained about that armor being weird.

Maybe when they were closer, they could look at other interesting things too.

"Now that they've got the palm prints, this should be wrapped up soon," Morin muttered.

He reclined on a beach chair, eyes half-closed in satisfaction.

His thoughts drifted.

Next world.

Next profession.

How big the bonus would be once his [Mechanic] profession advanced.

Time passed.

Whether it was because of the protagonist's inexplicable luck, or something else entirely, Toretto's crew successfully infiltrated the police station and gave it a thorough "renovation."

Opening the safe inside was impossible.

One hundred million dollars in cash.

Just moving it would take half a day.

So they decided to take the entire safe.

Switch it out during transport.

Then split the money later in a secure location.

But before that, preparations were needed.

The cars Morin provided had more than enough horsepower to drag a ten-ton safe.

But controlling something that heavy was another matter.

To minimize casualties, Morin made a suggestion.

"Control all the traffic lights in the city?"

Tej shook his head.

"That's extremely hard. Two options. One, access the control center directly-but real-time control and a clean escape would be a nightmare. Two, hack the system remotely, but that requires top-tier hacking skills."

He sighed.

"I'm an electrical engineer, not a hacker. We don't have anyone like that."

"Relax," Morin said calmly, standing on the yacht's deck and watching the sunset. "I wouldn't suggest it if it couldn't be done."

He smiled faintly.

"Hacking a traffic control center is easy."

Thinking about the destruction the crew would cause later, Morin had already called Toretto with this idea.

The movie didn't show innocent bystanders getting taken out.

Reality wouldn't be so kind.

Route planning and traffic control would make the operation smoother-and safer.

Why not do it?

"If that's the case, then that money is yours," Toretto said. "I know you don't need it, but rules are rules."

"I know," Morin laughed. "Is O'Conner there?"

"Me?" O'Conner looked surprised.

"Yes." Morin's smile deepened. "I heard Toretto raced you and lost a million dollars."

"Uh... yeah," O'Conner scratched his head. "I won it fair and square!"

Everyone smiled knowingly.

Morin didn't push it.

"Sure. Let's say that's how it went."

He continued casually, "Then my share goes to you. Consider it a gift for Mia's baby."

Ten million dollars.

Given away without hesitation.

To Morin, money was just paper-unless it could be converted into experience points.

"That's not fair!" Roman immediately jumped in. "What about me? We've met plenty of times!"

Morin laughed.

"How about this. We race."

"If you win, you get ten million."

"If you lose, you give me five million."

"How about it?"

"Deal?"

"Deal."

"Alright!"

After hanging up, Roman leapt into the air, pumped.

In his mind, the ten million was already his.

Morin was a top-tier mechanic, sure.

But driving?

What did a mechanic know about racing?

"This way, I can make twenty million," Roman muttered.

"Heh." Toretto glanced at him and laughed quietly before walking away.

"...What?" Roman froze.

"My condolences," O'Conner said, patting his shoulder sympathetically.

"What do you mean?" Roman asked blankly.

"Maybe I forgot to mention," O'Conner said gently. "Morin and Toretto raced before."

"And the result?"

Roman swallowed.

"Don't tell me Morin can keep up with Dom?"

"Of course not."

Roman exhaled in relief.

"Morin is slightly better."
