------------

"Okay, if that's the case..." Morin thought for a moment before speaking.

"I still need you to give me the list I asked you to investigate."

"Why?" Carlos was stunned. "I already believe what you're saying."

"First, that list is very useful to me," Morin said.

"I can check which organizations benefited from those assassinations. That will help me deduce which factions Sloan is working with."

"Second, I don't really understand how you assassins think," he continued.

"But for me, an answer from the Loom alone isn't enough to convince me."

"So I need more detailed, more crucial, and more practical evidence."

"Your job is simple," Morin added.

"Get the list. Don't do anything else."

"If you investigate too deeply, with your skills, you'll likely be discovered. If you're exposed too early, it will have a huge impact on my plan."

"...Okay." Carlos hesitated for a moment, then still agreed.

He knew his own abilities very well.

When it came to killing-close combat, curved bullets, ultra-long-range precision sniping-he was top-tier even within the Fraternity.

But gathering intelligence without being discovered was another matter entirely.

Based on his past experience, his usual solution was simple.

Kill everyone who saw him.

Several of his previous missions had ended as large-scale massacre scenes. After that... he had a very clear understanding of his own limitations and chose not to handle such tasks again.

If Morin knew this, he would definitely say that Carlos was a true assassin master.

After all, "perfect" stealth meant not being seen by anyone.

By that logic, killing everyone who saw you-even if you walked in during broad daylight-could still be considered perfect stealth.

...

Morin hung up the phone, stood up, stretched, and walked out of the room.

After reaching a preliminary agreement with Wick, the two of them had returned to the Continental Hotel.

It was worth noting that the assassins who saw Morin come back together with Wick wore very different expressions.

"Let's see... how far have things spread already?"

Morin thought to himself and headed toward the hotel's dance floor.

Wick was also there, standing in a corner and talking with the hotel's owner, Winston.

"You want to retire?"

Even Winston gasped when he heard Wick's reason for coming. He had to take several sips of wine before he could calm himself.

"Wick, have you really thought this through?" Winston asked.

"Are you sure you've given this serious consideration?"

Winston knew Wick wasn't joking. Still, after hearing this, he couldn't help asking a question he already knew was pointless.

It was simply unbelievable.

"Of course," Wick said, taking a sip of his drink.

"Tell me. What do I need to do to quit?"

"...You need to complete a mission," Winston said after a moment of silence.

"An impossible mission. People have tried before. All of them failed."

"Tell me," Wick said. "What is it?"

...

Morin was on the dance floor, chatting casually with two female assassins.

With his looks, physique, and flirting skills, he had both the hardware and the software to make it effortless.

Of course, rumors played a role as well.

The stories about Wick helping Morin had grown more and more exaggerated, branching into dozens of versions.

Some said Morin was Wick's relative.

Some said they were old friends.

Some even claimed they were sworn brothers.

There was one version that made Morin want to punch someone-

Wick was actually gay and had taken a liking to him.

In short, Morin had been in trouble, Wick had followed him out, and yet Morin returned safely with Wick. That alone gave people far too much room for imagination.

If it had been any other assassin, it would have been nothing more than idle chatter after dinner.

But this was Wick.

John Wick.

The Boogeyman.

Because of that, even though Morin wasn't an official assassin yet, he had already gained a certain level of fame within the Continental.

Of course, most people weren't just curious for fun.

They wanted to avoid stepping on a landmine.

And more importantly, they wanted to know whether Wick finally had a weakness.

The name "Boogeyman" was an absolute threat. No assassin wanted to face him directly.

But if the invincible Boogeyman had a weakness...

No one wanted to provoke Wick, but everyone wanted to know how to leverage him.

That was why the assassins were so excited.

Morin understood this perfectly.

Naturally, he took full advantage of it.

Not doing so would be a waste.

He had always been fond of the tactic of playing dumb to lure the tiger out of the mountain.

With his arms around the two most beautiful female assassins in the room, Morin headed toward the upper floors, under gazes that were hidden, direct, angry, or jealous.

"I heard that kid has something to do with you," Winston said, taking another sip of wine.

Earlier, Winston had already finished explaining the impossible mission.

After thinking it over, Wick had chosen to give up for now.

It wasn't that he lacked courage. He simply didn't believe it was possible.

More importantly, he now had another option.

His agreement with Morin gave him breathing room. He decided to wait and see Morin's true strength before making a final decision.

With Wick temporarily giving up, the atmosphere between him and Winston relaxed immediately.

Putting their different statuses aside, they were friends.

As they chatted, Winston saw Morin leaving with two female assassins and remembered the rumors he had heard.

"Yes," Wick said, glancing at Morin's departing figure before looking back.

"You could say he's a friend."

"You don't have many people you call friends," Winston said, cutting a cigar.

"But I heard he only registered today. A probationary assassin. Did you know him before?"

"No," Wick replied, shaking his head. "We met today."

"That makes me even more curious," Winston said.

"Why? And aren't you worried? Those two women are the definition of femme fatale."

"The ones who should be worried are them," Wick said, a faint curve appearing at the corner of his mouth.

"That man's skills are on the same level as mine."

"...You're not joking?"

"Of course not."

"To be honest, that's hard to believe."

"Then let's wait and see."
