"Phew... phew..."
When Morin came back to his senses, he was once again surrounded by a star-filled sky.
He had decisively used his traversal opportunity and left the Assassin world.
But this time, standing within this familiar starry expanse, Morin felt no shock.
Only lingering fear.
Since crossing worlds, he had never faced a crisis like that.
There was nothing he could do.
He couldn't win, and he didn't dare fight.
He couldn't keep fleeing with his back turned to that Isu man either, so he had clearly seen the attack launched at him.
The moment the lightning was released, Morin had felt it instinctively.
If he were hit, the consequences would be unimaginable.
He couldn't hide.
He couldn't take it.
So all he could do was run.
"They said it would be an Assassin movie world," Morin muttered as he lay flat on his back, staring at the stars. "So why did a game world intrude? And with that kind of opening-coming straight for me?"
"Crappy system. Explain yourself."
After he shouted, there wasn't even the sound of a bird.
Which, honestly, would've been even stranger.
The system clearly had no intention of responding.
Morin hadn't expected one anyway. He was just venting.
"Good thing I chickened out fast," he muttered. "Otherwise, something really bad might've happened..."
As for what would happen after leaving the Assassin world, Morin wasn't worried.
When he returned, he could choose the time point.
Which meant that if he wanted to, he could go back to a single second after he left.
Of course, he had no intention of going back now.
He would wait until his strength had grown enough to crush that Isu head-on.
At that point-
Bet you didn't expect me back.
For now...
The countless stars stirred once again.
Morin decided to first check the next world before making any decisions. As planned-if it was an easy world, he would enter directly. If not, he'd return to the Fast and Furious world and lie low for a while.
The stars churned as if moved by an invisible giant hand.
One star drifted forward, approaching Morin.
Its light flared, enveloping him.
[World selected - Now You See Me world]
[Please select - Traversing location]
[Please select - New profession]
"Now You See Me?" Morin relaxed slightly. "That works. I can have some fun showing off."
"Thank goodness it's not another merged world. If there's another Isu-level existence, I might actually break down..."
He let out a breath and began choosing his location.
"I choose the traversal location... a small street next to J. Daniel Atlas's residence."
Then he glanced at the profession options.
"Magician. Stage Magician..."
Morin blinked.
Then blinked again.
"That's it?"
"Only two options?" he said instinctively. "That's strange."
His first impulse was to choose Magician.
After all, his attribute panel leaned heavily toward magic. He'd been frustrated by the lack of actual magical professions for a long time.
Choosing Magician would obviously increase his [Magic].
But just as he was about to confirm, Morin stopped.
Something felt wrong.
Logically, the Magician profession would boost [Magic]. There was no doubt about that.
But this wasn't a normal profession.
This was a system-provided Magician.
First problem-money.
Morin had no idea how a Magician was supposed to make a living. He had no desire to repeat what happened in the previous world, spending ages experimenting just to figure out how a [Templar Knight] earned money.
Second problem.
The most important one.
Was this Magician profession... normal?
Based on what the system had done with [Templar Knight], Morin was convinced of one thing.
His system was a little unhinged.
So he absolutely could not apply common sense to it.
What if he picked Magician and the system said-
"Congratulations! You're a Magician! Use Light Spell, go berserk, charge in and hack them down! Here, have some bonus [Physique]! Go get 'em, great Magician!"
Morin had zero doubt the system could do that.
So he immediately changed his choice.
"I choose the profession-Stage Magician."
[Location confirmed]
[New profession selected]
[Traversal begins]
In the blink of an eye, Morin regained his senses.
He was standing in a narrow alley.
At the same time, a wave of noise reached his ears.
Curious, he walked toward it while checking his newly acquired profession panel.
[Stage Magician · Novice (0/10)
(Some stage magicians pretend to perform magic tricks in order to display real magic.)
Title Bonus:
[Magic] +10
(Oh yes, my dear fellow, you actually picked it. I really want to kiss your butt with my shoe! For the sake of the one-eyed guy, this is what you wanted, right?)
[Novice Skill: Rabbit out of a Hat]
(I assume your literacy level is sufficient. Now... perhaps you can try making a rabbit disappear from a top hat?)
[Novice Skill: Mind Control]
(Hypnosis? Promise me you won't use it to do weird things, okay?)
[Novice Skill: Kato's Hand]
(Extremely fast hands and precise control are required to perform magic without mistakes! Its inventor often used this to make women feel weak and limp! A very terrifying skill!)]
Morin: "..."
There were too many things to complain about.
For a moment, he didn't even know where to start.
For example-
Why did it feel like the system was getting more and more deranged?
While mentally filing his complaints, Morin arrived at the source of the noise.
A crowd had gathered, clearly waiting for someone important.
Curious, Morin pushed forward.
His strength was considerable, and the people around him were moved aside with almost no resistance.
A few people turned, ready to curse-
Then met his eyes.
They shuddered instantly.
Not only did they stop talking, they subtly moved away.
Morin noticed, but didn't dwell on it.
He already knew why.
It had happened back in the Assassin world too.
Kill enough people, and something sticks.
It sounded mystical, but it was real.
Killing intent.
There were other similar auras-people in high office, battlefield generals, or that homeroom teacher who always appeared behind you at the worst possible moment.
Do something long enough, and it leaves a mark.
Morin's aura came from killing.
From treating human life as expendable.
And an aura wasn't something you could simply suppress.
Even with near-total control over his body, Morin couldn't hide it.
Only time-or another aura, like happiness-could wear it down.
That was why Morin had been deliberately acting like a normal person since entering this world.
And planned to keep doing so.
A bowstring pulled too tight for too long would snap.
In this world, Morin wanted to live normally.
Relax.
Have fun.
As for being a stage magician-
Knowing a little magic was only natural.
And using magic to make money and pick up women?
Perfectly reasonable.
Just then, a man with medium-length hair stepped onto the stage.
J. Daniel Atlas.
One of the main characters of the Now You See Me world.
"Daniel!"
"I love you!"
Cheers erupted instantly.
Before being selected by Dylan Rhodes and becoming one of the Four Horsemen, Daniel was already a top-tier, wildly popular magician.
"I love you too."
The response only intensified the crowd.
"Alright," Daniel said, smiling. "Lately, many people have asked me why my dear assistant Henley left me."
"But is that really the case?"
He raised a finger and shook it.
"No. No. No."
"I just made her disappear."
"As for how..."
He gestured.
A staff member pushed a large box onto the stage. At the same time, a beautiful woman in a bikini walked out.
"It's the same thing I'm about to do to my new assistant."
"Ooooh!"
The cheers rose again.
"Now," Daniel said, rubbing his hands together, "I'd like to invite some enthusiastic audience members up."
"Do you remember what I always tell you when you get closer?"
"The less you see!" the crowd shouted in unison.
"Exactly."
"So I invite you to come up and take a closer look."
Daniel walked to the edge of the stage, scanning the crowd with practiced ease.
"You. You. You... and..."
His gaze swept across the audience and paused on Morin, who stood in a small open space.
"You."
Daniel's selection criteria were simple.
Not plants. Not special auras.
Just-
Looks.
Good-looking people were used to attention, less prone to stage fright, and undeniably better for the show.
And given Daniel's personality, it was usually women.
At most, one man.
"...Me?" Morin pointed at himself.
"That's right," Daniel said enthusiastically. "You, handsome. Come on up."
"I'm the only handsome guy on stage. I'm drawing too much hate. Help me share the firepower."
"Alright."
Morin raised an eyebrow, didn't refuse, and stepped onto the stage alongside the three chosen beauties.
