----------------------------------------------------------

This didn't mean Emiya's healing magic was weak.

On the contrary, for most injuries-as long as a limb wasn't missing-he could heal them with magic. It was a very convenient ability.

Still, compared to healing magic, there was another skill Emiya truly wanted.

Resurrection.

Aqua possessed two forms of resurrection magic.

The first could revive a recently deceased target as long as the body was still intact. But it could only be used once.

The second was a divine privilege.

With it, Aqua could resurrect the same person an unlimited number of times.

Naturally, ordinary people couldn't enjoy that kind of treatment. It completely disrupted the balance between life and death.

Aqua only used it on Kazuma Sato.

Of course, this wasn't because she was in love with him.

It was because Aqua was Kazuma's "possession," the one he had brought down from heaven.

If Kazuma died for good, Aqua still wouldn't be able to return to the heavens.

So in Aqua's view, before the Demon King was defeated and she could go back, Kazuma absolutely could not die.

Because of that, every time Kazuma died in the story, Aqua resurrected him without hesitation.

She never allowed him to leave this world.

In a sense, this was one of Kazuma Sato's cheats.

When he arrived in this world, he chose Aqua.

He lost out on powerful abilities.

But he gained something far more important.

A guarantee of life.

No matter how reckless he was, as long as the Demon King still lived, Aqua would not let him die.

Once.

Ten times.

A hundred times.

She would resurrect him every time.

Others had one life to gamble with.

Kazuma had multiple.

Even if his start wasn't perfect, choosing Aqua was still the best decision he could have made.

After all, no matter how powerful an ability was, it meant nothing if you were dead.

As long as you were alive, there was always a chance.

That said, Emiya had no interest in the resurrection magic that allowed unlimited revivals.

That was a divine privilege.

Even if Aqua wanted to teach it to him, he couldn't learn it.

What Emiya wanted was the first kind.

The resurrection magic that could revive a recently deceased person with an intact body.

Even if it could only be used once, it effectively allowed a restart in life.

Calling it overpowered wasn't an exaggeration.

Unfortunately, it was expensive.

Very expensive.

It required a huge amount of skill points, far more than Emiya currently had.

So for now, all he could do was level up, accumulate points, and wait until he could afford it.

Besides resurrection, Aqua had other skills Emiya couldn't help but envy.

Sacred Exorcism.

Sacred Spellbreak.

Both were extremely practical.

The former was the natural enemy of undead and demons.

The Demon King's general, the Dullahan, had been severely injured by it.

Even Wiz, the lich shop owner, had nearly been killed.

The latter could dispel curses and magic of any level.

It could also shatter fields and barriers.

Even the defensive barrier of the mobile fortress Destroyer could be broken, allowing adventurers to attack its interior.

Emiya was naturally envious.

But like resurrection magic, these skills were high-tier and consumed massive amounts of skill points.

With his current reserves, learning them was impossible.

And beyond those, this world had countless other powerful and useful skills.

Emiya wanted them all.

As the saying went, there was no such thing as too many skills.

Unfortunately, his lack of skill points kept that desire firmly in check.

...

The next morning, Emiya and Kazuma Sato went to the Adventurers' Guild.

They were looking for someone who could teach them skills.

Aqua didn't come along.

She had already spent all her skill points learning Archpriest abilities and was currently sleeping soundly back at the mansion.

After entering the guild, Emiya ordered breakfast and quietly observed the surroundings.

Kazuma sat across from him.

Perhaps because it was early, there weren't many people around.

The person Emiya was waiting for hadn't appeared yet.

So he waited.

In truth, he had already decided which skill he wanted.

Crusader was the highest defensive class in this world.

They had a basic passive skill.

Iron Wall.

Anyone who learned Iron Wall would have muscles as hard as steel, dramatically increasing their physical defense.

That was Emiya's target.

He could use telekinesis to form protective barriers.

But accidents happened.

Anything could happen in these worlds.

Even gods could have their power stolen by mortals and be turned into stepping stones toward godhood.

It wasn't impossible that one day, Emiya might run out of mental energy.

To prepare for that possibility, he needed a strong body.

Not just healthy.

Strong.

And Iron Wall was the best option available to him.

Fortunately, in the beginner town of Axel, there was a Crusader who wandered around frequently.

And that person was one of the heroines of the story.

Darkness.

Emiya had no doubts about her defensive ability.

Her mental state was another matter.

She was a genuine masochist.

To indulge her preferences, she had invested all her skill points into defensive skills.

Her defense ranked among the highest of any humanoid that had appeared so far.

In the dungeon, she had been blasted by waves of Vanir dolls and emerged almost completely unharmed.

She was also the only human known to survive a direct hit from Explosion magic.

There was no question.

If Emiya wanted to learn a defensive skill, she was the right teacher.

As for Kazuma Sato, Emiya didn't ask what he planned to learn.

He let him decide for himself.

In the original story, Kazuma learned many seemingly useless skills.

Individually, they were weak.

Low-level.

But by combining them, he often defeated opponents far stronger than himself.

That alone proved Kazuma was clever.

To ensure he could survive even outside adventuring, he learned forging, magical tool creation, cooking, and more.

So Emiya wasn't worried.

Kazuma wouldn't walk the wrong path.

He let him do as he pleased.

After all-

This wasn't a serious adventure world.
