Chapter 240 - Chapter 240: The Crimson Heart

Chapter 240: The Crimson Heart

As Jiang Li finished describing the origin and properties of the Golden Dragon Spear, the audience—both soul masters and powerful soul beasts—showed visible excitement.

After all, this was a genuine half-divine weapon imbued with the bloodline power of the Golden Dragon itself.

To them, such a treasure was worth more than anything else. None were willing to let it slip away.

"That concludes my introduction to the Golden Dragon Spear and its restrictions," Jiang Li said calmly. "Now, the bidding will begin. Starting price: thirty million gold soul coins, with each raise no less than twenty million."

He struck the auction gavel, signaling the start.

"One hundred million gold soul coins!"

The first bid came from Di Tian himself.

The humans in the crowd stiffened immediately. They had suspected the Soul Beast race would not allow such a treasure to fall into human hands—but part of them had still dared to hope otherwise.

That hope now vanished.

Even so, Shrek Academy, the Holy Spirit Cult, and other top factions refused to back down.

This was no ordinary artifact; it carried the essence of a Golden Dragon—a part of a being of pure legend.

Once lost, no second opportunity would ever arise.

"One hundred fifty million gold soul coins!"

Yan Shaozhe from Shrek Academy raised his bidding paddle, face set with determination.

"Two hundred million!"

Zhongli Wu of the Holy Spirit Cult followed without hesitation.

With Shrek and the Holy Spirit Cult both joining the fray, the rest of the top powers soon followed suit.

The once-quiet Starry Auction Pavilion burst alive with voices and bids.

Jiang Li smiled to himself, nodding slightly.

He had initially thought that once the Soul Beasts began bidding, the human powers would back down. Apparently, they had simply been saving their efforts for something truly worth competing for.

The Golden Dragon Spear was that item.

Aside from the one housed in the Divine Realm, no other weapon like it existed anywhere in the world.

Jiang Li didn't need to predict the outcome—he knew it would ultimately end in Di Tian's hands. The humans were merely inflating the final price.

And that was exactly what he wanted.

As expected, ten minutes later, Di Tian confidently called out his final bid.

"Two billion, one hundred million gold soul coins."

At that number, even the most determined human factions sighed in defeat.

Despite pooling all their resources, they could never match the Soul Beasts' bottomless wealth.

Seeing the inevitable, the other top forces also withdrew from the competition.

"Hmph."

Di Tian snorted disdainfully and cast a cold glance toward the humans.

In his mind, no human faction could ever rival the foundation of the Soul Beasts.

If he wished, he could purchase every item in the auction—though that would draw too much attention.

For now, all that mattered were treasures that could strengthen the Soul Beast race. The rest he would leave for the humans.

Jiang Li surveyed the hall. Seeing no new bids, he struck his gavel again.

"Two billion, one hundred million gold soul coins—first call."

"Second call."

"Third call!"

"No further bids. The fourth auction item—the incomplete Golden Dragon Spear—is sold to the Soul Beast race for two billion, one hundred million gold soul coins."

At his final tap, the Spear officially changed hands.

Gu Yuena accepted the weapon handed to her.

The instant it touched her palm, her bloodline surged violently, resonating with its draconic energy as though the two were destined to reunite.

She suppressed the reaction with ease and calmly stored the spear away.

If it had been the complete Golden Dragon Spear, it might have enhanced her bloodline further—but as a half-finished artifact, its effect on her was negligible.

"You keep it," she said to Di Tian after a brief pause. "It will help refine your power. The energy within the spear may also purify the bloodline of your Golden-Eyed Black Dragon King form."

She tossed the golden spear toward him.

Indeed, the Golden Dragon's bloodline was one of the strongest in existence—matched only by her own Silver Dragon bloodline. Both stood far above Di Tian's current lineage.

With this weapon to nourish his power, he could easily surpass his ninth tribulation and strengthen the very core of his being.

"Thank you, Master."

Di Tian accepted the spear reverently and stored it with care.

Like the others, he now waited in eager silence for the next item.

After a brief pause, Jiang Li raised his hand once again.

Scarlet light blossomed upon the stage.

The fifth item materialized—a pulsating, blood-red heart, still beating faintly as it floated in midair.

The eerie glow it emitted painted the room in crimson hues.

"What is that? A heart?"

"It doesn't look like any creature's heart I've ever seen… there's no trace of bloodline aura."

"Indeed. It's as if it was formed purely from energy itself, not from flesh and blood. Could it belong to some unknown species?"

Gasps and whispers spread across the hall.

At first glance, everyone thought the red heart belonged to a human or soul beast. But after closer sensing, they realized no blood energy flowed through it at all.

Its stillness, its strange vitality—it was utterly alien.

And given that it was the fifth auction item, its worth must far exceed all the previous treasures.

If it truly was a heart, it surely wasn't an ordinary one.

"Master, can you tell what that heart is?"

Di Tian turned to Gu Yuena curiously. He could sense that the heart was unlike anything he had ever encountered—its essence completely shrouded in mystery.

Gu Yuena's eyes narrowed slightly as she studied the floating organ that glowed like molten crystal, her expression darkening in thought.
