"You're not trying to fight me?"
"Tch! For a human to be this strong, I should crush you for being arrogant"
Hunter grinned at the goddess of war, a being born from the wrath and rage of the other great gods. Gifted with godlike weapons for her to wield, as she was the defense, a hunter for gods to send her out and kill all demons.
Especially, her purpose was to kill a certain Deity. But after that, she just worked like a dog on a leash. Until, she met this human before her. Someone who's lifespan was like a grain of sand compared to her's.
But, even then his strength was equal to her or even stronger.
"But you haven't"
"You insol-"
"Stop eating with your mouth full of food"
He stuffed her mouth with more pancakes making her glare at him, but she kept on eating with glee. The food he made was the best thing she ever tasted. Mortal cooking had made her hooked on it because he cooked it.
He cooked like a house husband. She enjoyed that, even how powerful he was. he lived a normal life, just stopping any troubles in his city.
Hunter had fought even their pantheon, some gods were angry with him. Even till now, they didn't want to be the god whom they lost to a human. That's where Durga defended him, not letting them do any cheap shots at him. Even trying to assassinate him because of their beaten pride.
"You know, Shiva wanted to meet me"
Durga widened at that, as if the king himself wanted to see the young man.
"Are you going to?"
She gulped down her food, wanting to know the answer. This could be really good or bad.
"Nah, what bothersome thing to do, not like they're their to give me some big worthless medal, for 'god beater' type of thing"
Hunter sarcastically said, as he chuckled thinking about it. Making Durga slightly irritated how free spirited he was.
"I want to smack you, but this is just being you"
She sighed, and kept on eating.
"I mean, I enjoy having a beautiful woman who seems to bother me for fights to stay longer by my side"
He nonchalantly, confessed how he felt with her. A liking, and she coughed making her take some time to swallow her food.
She blushed, and squinted at him.
"You...."
She wasn't mad at that, enjoying how he enjoyed her presence with him. Even when she annoyed him for fights.
"Just saying, anyways I have to meet a certain someone in a couple of days"
"Who's that?"
"Who knows~ I think if someone accepts what the other feels, maybe secrets won't be so secret"
Hunter grinned, he wasn't hiding his advances, his affection for the goddess of war. Who's temper was pretty rough to be faced against by.
She stayed silent, but deep within her, she wondered is this what mortals felt.
She was just a killing machine, a guard dog.
*************
[Year's later]
He grew old, Hunter was just a human. but all these years he lived his best life. Even creating a family with the goddess of war. Something no normal man can do, or even put up with her temper and personality.
Hunter was the only man, without fearing her. He looked at his daughters battling it out, they had grown to such beautiful women.
As hunter had four children with Durga and all of them were females. They were now teens, he saw them grow up at least for a good chunk of their adolescence. Unfortunately, he had to go, it's not like Durga couldn't find a way to make him live longer, or immortality.
He had a curse, something that couldn't be dispelled so easily. A curse rejecting anything from him to be able to achieve immortality or even longer life span. As if, he was destined to die with his normal human life span. At least, he would die in her arms.
He was now older looking man, his good looks still showed. He didn't loook like a grandpa thanks to his training since his younger days. He just had white hair, more of an older face. Wrinkles were prominent.
"Dear...."
Durga came in with hot chocolate, she settled down next to him watching their daughters spar with one another.
"Thank you honey"
He sipped it and smiled.
"How lovely~"
He saw her face, he knew he doesn't have much left. So, he put the cup down. Touching her chin making her look at him. Even though she didn't want to, she gave in. Her eyes ready to tear up, it was this year or maybe next year. But, something like this was hidden from their daughters.
"Don't look to sad, I enjoyed being with you till now, even then.....maybe in the next life we'll be together once again"
She gritted her teeth, wanting to smack him on the cheek. She wanted to cry so badly, as Hunter touched her cheek. Stroking it with gentleness, he could only make her happy in these last moments.
"H-How will we tell them?"
"I'll do it, they'll know soon, but lets enjoy our moments together, Durga"
As they spend time with each other. The four daughters Faust, Furina, Jinshi and Zani looked at their parents acting love dovey.
One of them snorted, showing their jealousy.
"Hmph! Always like this, I wish they get a room instead of showing me this"
"Jealous that you can't be like our mom?"
"E-Eh!?"
Jinshi was flabbergasted, but Faust was right.
"He~, our spoiled sister really can't hide her feelings, you should know that we all feel the same, it's only a matter of time whether we act on these feelings and emotions"
Zani teased making Jinshi blush and tried to attack her.
"Fueee....."
Furina also blushed hearing this, she was now experiencing puberty. Her mind wondered all sorts of things. And one of them was her father.
These sister's had something hidden beneath everything. A secret they shared in common.

[1 year later]
Hunter's death happened, only the sorrow and cries of girls could be heard. He didn't die fighting, he died like a normal human man.
That's where everything change. History was going to change in this world.
