Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 – Clash of Dragon and Firebird

The morning air shimmered as Amari and Daniel stepped onto the cracked stone path, the city's outskirts behind them. The sun had barely risen, casting long shadows across the deserted streets. Their earpieces buzzed to life.

"Good morning, sirs," Sam's voice crackled.

"Morning," both brothers replied.

Amari adjusted his stance, calm and precise. "Time to see what we're made of today."

Daniel smirked, hands in his pockets. "As long as nothing tries to torch me before breakfast."

Sam's warning was barely audible before the ground erupted. BOOM! A massive explosion shook the pavement, throwing them to the ground. Dust and debris filled the air.

Daniel shook himself off. "You okay?"

Amari nodded, eyes scanning. "Yeah… but whatever this is, it's not ordinary."

From the smoke, a figure emerged. Broad-shouldered, menacing, with fire smoldering along his arms and legs. His grin was sharp, cruel.

"You must be Amari and Daniel. Just a couple of kids," the man said, voice dripping venom.

"Who are you?" Amari demanded, calm but fierce.

The man chuckled darkly. "I'm Vice General Dragon… of the Dark Family."

Daniel's jaw tightened. "Dark Family… that explains a lot."

Dragon's grin widened. "Who sent me? Doesn't matter. You won't live to see him."

Amari crossed his arms. "Don't talk too much. Let's see what you've got."

Dragon charged, a streak of fire trailing his movements. Amari and Daniel sidestepped in perfect sync. Dragon unleashed fire at Daniel, who barely dodged.

"Fire, huh? No wonder they call him Dragon," Daniel muttered, ducking another blast.

Amari countered with a beam, clashing with Dragon's flames. Sparks and smoke filled the air. Daniel's fists glowed, and he launched his Wind Strike. He punched the air with all his strength, sending invisible shockwaves that slammed into Dragon, staggering him.

Amari's eyes glimmered. "Yes! Keep him off balance!"

Dragon roared and fired Firebird, a massive flaming phoenix shooting from his arms. Amari responded immediately, calling forth Green Dragon, fusing with it in a flash of emerald light. His body armored with scales, claws, and wings, every movement precise and devastating.

The two forces collided—Daniel's shockwave-infused punches and Amari's dragon-powered strikes. The impact created a shockwave that blew debris across the city outskirts.

Dragon staggered, his flames flickering. "You actually countered my Firebird?! Impossible!"

Amari smirked, panting. "Never underestimate a calm mind and a dragon fused to it."

Daniel's Wind Strike continued, invisible force smashing into Dragon from multiple angles. "You said you wanted a fight," Daniel muttered, nonchalant. "Here it is."

Dragon roared, charging again, fists blazing with fire from elbows and calves. Amari blocked, countered, dodged, and pushed back, all in perfect coordination with Daniel, who attacked with invisible force from all directions.

"Daniel! Now!" Amari shouted.

"Got it!" Daniel yelled. He focused every ounce of strength into a massive Wind Strike, punching the air so hard that it twisted the space in front of Dragon. Amari's Green Dragon armor pulsed, combining with the shockwave.

Dragon's Firebird clashed with the combined force, the explosion blinding and deafening, a storm of green and orange light, wind, and heat. When the smoke cleared, Dragon lay battered, fire sputtering, unable to continue.

Amari's armor dissolved, leaving him panting but composed. Daniel slowed, essence dimming but his expression calm.

"Finally," Daniel said, wiping sweat from his brow. "But this is just the beginning."

Amari chuckled softly, eyes scanning the horizon. "Yeah… and next time, he's not going to hold anything back either. We'll be ready."

Night fell as the brothers set up camp, exhausted but vigilant. They ate silently, muscles tense, minds already strategizing for the battles ahead. Tomorrow, the journey would continue. And the Dark Family would know that Amari and Daniel weren't just kids—they were the storm.
