It took the trio a whole minute to pass through the burning rubble in their suits, which had been changed like Max's. So the suits were not only fireproof but also bulletproof. Even some weak lasers wouldn't cause them much harm.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
They saw that Max was fighting along with dozens of men with guns. They had trapped the Mechadroid in their human-made encirclement.
"Left flank, " Max shouted.
Bang! Bang!
Shooters on the left side of the Mechadroid shot bullets at its head.
The Mechadroid turned its head left.
"Right Flank!" Max shouted while taking aim at the head of the Mechadroid.
Bang! Bang!
The Mechadroid was about to sweep the people on its left side with its claw, but its attention changed again, making its head rotate right.
Upon a closer look, you could see some electric sparks being released from its neck due to damages accumulated from constant incoming bullets.
It was no wonder that such an advanced and giant droid was functioning like a robot made by a kid.
"Gwen, let me borrow your shoulder, " Leo said while going behind her, dropping his EmberPod, and stretching its pipe one foot longer so he could use it as a sniper's rifle.
Inside his mask, the glass screen over his eyes, pinpointed the point where his aim was. It was smart enough to recognise the nozzle as the firing device.
That's how he adjusted his aim at the neck of Mechadroid.
Because of his long hand and stretched neck of EmberPod, the nozzle was far ahead of Gwen's face, but she looked a little afraid.
The moment, Mechadroid rotated its head right, both Max and Leo took the shots almost simultaneously.
Pew!
Pew!
Two red light streaks were shot at Mechadroid.
Ka-boom!
The Mechadroid wasn't able to dodge laser bullets which were faster than normal bullets. All of its limbs stopped moving.
The head of the Mechadroid blasted like a big broccoli sprouting with raging fire.
"Grandpa!" Ben shouted while running towards Max.
Max was lost in his thoughts, but when he heard Ben's voice, he snapped, "Ben! Transform, now!"
"Huh?" Ben stopped running, confused as to why he said that in front of so many people.
The Mechadroid was done for, wasn't it?
"Leo! This is the second Mechadroid. After destroying the first one's head, it flew to the woods across the road. Vilgax is definitely plotting something else, " Max told Leo through the intercom.
"What?" Even Leo couldn't grasp the situation.
Ben and Gwen heard Max's message too but they were too ignorant to understand the situation.
Feeling something was wrong, Leo shouted at Ben, "Hurry up, Ben! Transform! Now!"
Ben looked back for a second before looking down at his right wrist, where the game-changing watch was. He lifted his wrist up and was about to touch it with his left hand...
But time slowed down for everyone except a certain someone.
A yellow blur zoomed out from the woods across the road in front of the motel, making a gale behind its path.
Zoom!
In less than one second, it crossed 148 meters. Yet it successfully stopped right in front of Ben.
Ben found his hands being held by a pair of hands. Curiosity made him look up at the figure who had just appeared in front of him.
From the perky yellow breastplate, he could guess it was a female. She was a few inches taller than him thanks to the maglev (magnetic levitation) discs on her legs. Her face was hidden behind a yellow helmet. Her black bodysuit wasn't revealing her actual body at all, designed with red linings.
"Sorry, kid! But you are coming with me, " the woman in question sounded like someone in her twenties.
Maybe it was her suit but Ben wasn't able to free his hands from her grip.
Zoom!
Wait---!!
She took Ben in the direction from which she came, and no one was able to stop her.
"Ben!" Max and Gwen cried out in unison.
Dash!
But Leo dashed from Gwen's side at a speed beyond that of an Olympic champion.
Olympic runners: 30-36 kmph (kilometres per hour) or 8.5-10 meters/second.
Leo's speed: 20 meters/second or 72 kmph.
His whole body was surrounded by a layer of golden force field. His legs were especially glowing with golden radiance, sparking small golden currents at each step.
Compared to the yellow blur, whose eyes couldn't be followed by eyes, Leo was nothing special, who was eight times slower.
But one person couldn't help but marvel at the sight of a human running at such speed.
"Wow! That's... Magic, " Gwen muttered.
She was in a daze, so much so that she didn't feel the heat rising in her body. Also, a purple flicker between her fingers of both of her hands, which she failed to notice.
Whir!!!
The metallic sounds from Mechadroid snapped the people out of confusion caused by the yellow blur and Leo.
"It is not over yet?"
"Fuck! Let it go! It must be going to the woods like the previous one."
However, to add despair in the situation, the Mechadroid opened its belly.
"No! Everyone shoot whatever comes out, " Max shouted.
He threw his EmberPod which had no power. He disarmed the guy next to him and stole his gun, only to take aim at the opening.
"Hey! What the fuck man! Couldn't you have asked?" The disarmed guy was about to take back his rifle from Max but--
"What is that?" A man shouted when he saw a small flying droid coming out from the opening on the belly of the Mechadroid.
"Everyone, shoot that damn thing!, " Max shouted before shooting.
Bang! Bang!
"We are out of bullets here--ah!"
The head of a man was blown by a laser bullet. He was in the rear flank, and Gwen, who was standing not too far away, saw this. Her whole body froze with fear as she saw three killing machines coming out from the rear opening of the Mechadroid.
One after another, men were falling on the ground without their heads.
Max gritted his teeth and dashed towards Gwen from below the Mechadroid, bowing his body forward a little so his head didn't bump into the bottom of the Mechadroid.
"Help me!"
One of the small droids was in the process of possessing a man. It was spreading over his body like a slime.
But Max had no time for that. He got behind a small droid and blew its head off from its neck before running towards Gwen.
The third small droid was killing and chasing humans who had run out of ammo.
By that time, even the men at the front line had started to become victims.
"Gwen, are you alright?" Max stood up in front of her, obstructing her field of vision with his big chubby body.
"Gran-grandpa..., " her lips quivered, her face resembled that of a kid who witnessed violence for the first time.
Max hugged her while turning his head backward in case a droid came after them, 'When the hell is "help" coming?'
...
Zoom!
Meanwhile, the yellow blur had brought Ben to the first Mechadroid which was lying on the ground with its blasted off head.
As soon as she halted, she let go of Ben, who rolled on the ground until he bumped into the Mechadroid.
Argh!
Swish!
The helmet's front part opened, revealing the face of a young girl with short black hair with purple streaks.
However, she was under the control of Vilgax. Red, creepy glasses on her eyes were proof of that. It was a neurolinked cybernetic device that could control living organisms.
"Ouch! That must have hurt. But this is my job. I have to get that watch for the sake of my friends who are captives in Vilgax's mothership, " she said with an evil smile, which was mixed with concern for her friends.
Whir!
She lifted up her right hand. Just like her legs, her hands had meglev discs too. She could move faster with all of her meglev discs on the ground, probably faster than the speed of sound (1 mach=1234.8 kmph).
The disc in her hand was moving fast enough to chop off Ben's hand like cutting tofu with a knife.
"Wait! Wait! Wait a minute! Can't we settle it with talk? Look, we both seem to have a common enemy. Let's work together, " Ben said while enduring the pain he got on his head.
He was feeling a little dizzy. He could not be fast enough to reach out to Omnitrix and transform.
But the woman slowly moved on her legs, saying, "Not possible. You don't know who Vilgax is. He is not even the final boss. As far as I know, he is taking orders from someone called "Aaravos", a dark mage from another dimension."
Ben didn't know what she was talking but thanks to him not cutting the communication channel off, Leo heard their communication.
Chasing the tracks of the female speedster with night vision and tracking features of the helmet, Leo was running in the woods.
'Fuck! Aaravos! That villain from The Dragon Prince cartoon series? This is too much. This woman seems to be GoGo Tomago from the Big Hero 6 cartoon series. Damn it! It feels like the multiverse is compressing, bringing worlds closer, ' Leo was getting a headache which he absolutely hate it.
Things were getting out of his hands. He was regretting his choice to give up on Omnitrix.
