After confirming that the old man was the so-called accountant Gambino, Zhang Jie was a bit speechless. Was his judgment a little too belated?
Arriving outside the door, he unluckily saw the elderly couple get into a Land Rover.
"Hmph, it seems I wasn't too belated after all."
Zhang Jie said with a smile, "So, do you have a car?"
Anna glanced at Zhang Jie, then walked forward.
Soon, a gray Beetle on the side of the road flashed its lights. She went over, opened the door, and sat in. Zhang Jie followed closely, pulling open the passenger door.
"Catch up to him, it should be him."
Zhang Jie pointed at the black Land Rover that was about to turn the corner. "Checking into a hotel might be a diversion, but the real people meeting him should be those two Land Rovers, right?"
Anna glanced at Zhang Jie, then stepped on the accelerator. The Beetle instantly roared, and the friction between the tires and the ground made a piercing sound.
With a puff of white smoke, the Beetle had already caught up.
"Your judgment better be correct, otherwise I'll throw you into the river."
Apparently, the previous judgment had left Anna a little dissatisfied with Zhang Jie.
"Even if the judgment isn't correct, you can't blame me. After all, encountering this guy so suddenly, and him being so cunning, it's not something I can control, is it?"
As he spoke, Zhang Jie clapped his hands and looked ahead as the distance between the two cars gradually closed.
"Let's overtake and see first." Zhang Jie said as he opened the car's glove compartment, where he saw several oddly shaped objects.
"Magnetic grenades."
Seeing Zhang Jie notice the items in the glove compartment, Anna explained casually.
Zhang Jie casually picked up two and put them in his pocket. Focused on driving, Anna didn't notice Zhang Jie's small action.
Soon, their vehicles were parallel.
Zhang Jie also drew his TTI from his underarm holster. As their car passed the Land Rover, Zhang Jie looked through the window and saw the man inside—the same man who had been escorted into the hotel by a group of bodyguards.
"That's him. Drop me off up ahead." Zhang Jie said. Anna understood and quickly stopped the car at the next turn. Zhang Jie immediately got out, and Anna continued driving forward.
Because the next intersection had a traffic light.
Zhang Jie casually grabbed an unoccupied bicycle on the roadside and started riding it. When the red light turned on ahead, all the cars stopped, including the two Land Rovers, while Anna's car slowly pulled over to the side of the road.
Zhang Jie, on his bicycle, rode into the gap between the Land Rover and a bus. As he passed the second car, he directly knocked on the door, telling the occupant to retract the rearview mirror.
The security guard in the car, however, ignored Zhang Jie. Zhang Jie, feigning anger, directly snapped off the rearview mirror, then continued riding his bike forward.
When he reached the first car, he again knocked on the window, telling the occupant to retract the rearview mirror because he needed to pass.
The other party remained unresponsive.
So, Zhang Jie directly leaned the bicycle against the car door, then squeezed past the bicycle, crouched down, pressed a magnetic grenade, and attached it to the front undercarriage of the Land Rover.
Immediately after, he turned around and snapped off the car's rearview mirror. He then approached the second car. At this point, the security guard rolled down the window, just about to reprimand Zhang Jie, when Zhang Jie pulled out his TTI from under his arm and shot the security guard in the passenger seat.
Puff!
Blood instantly splattered all over the driver's security guard's face. Then, Zhang Jie turned his gun and also killed the driver's security guard.
Following that, the heads of the two security personnel in the back were also blown off by Zhang Jie.
Then, Zhang Jie opened the right car door, pulled out the security guard's body, got in, opened the left car door, kicked out the driver's body, then closed the door, put it in reverse, and instantly backed up.
The security guard in the front car, because Zhang Jie had snapped off his rearview mirror, didn't immediately notice the situation behind him. It wasn't until Zhang Jie quickly backed away in the car that the other party reacted and tried to open the car door, only to find it firmly blocked by the bicycle.
And just as the driver in the front car was about to back up, the magnetic bomb's countdown reached its end. With a "boom," the car's front wheel was blown off.
Zhang Jie had already backed up the Land Rover and then drove into another alley.
Anna, watching this scene from behind, was very surprised, but she quickly reacted and followed in her Beetle.
After driving the vehicle to an uninhabited area in the alley, which was a crossroads, Zhang Jie stopped the car directly, then turned off the engine. After pulling out the security guard's body from the back, he dragged out the accountant who had been disguised as an old man.
"Gambino?"
He muttered the accountant's name while glancing at the briefcase handcuffed to his hand.
The Beetle behind also arrived. Anna got out, took a look, then touched his face and peeled off the fake human skin.
Revealing Gambino's true face.
"It's you." Anna reached out and frisked him, quickly pulling out a black USB drive from his person. Then she glanced at the briefcase in his hand. This thing couldn't be opened, because attempting to force open the handcuffs would detonate the briefcase.
"Where's the key?"
Anna asked directly.
Looking at the two dark muzzles pointed at him, Gambino honestly replied, "The key is on Maksim Berun."
Zhang Jie raised an eyebrow upon hearing the name but said nothing.
Anna also said nothing, she just picked him up and stuffed him into the Beetle. "I'm taking this person for now."
With that, she got in, started the car, and sped off with a stomp on the accelerator.
Zhang Jie looked around, no one had noticed him. He then glanced at the Land Rover, and finally sighed.
"Forget it, this car is not meant for me."
He casually left through an intersection.
Meanwhile, Maksim was furious upon learning that his accountant had been taken away.
He picked up his golf club and furiously smashed things in his office. Everything visible was shattered. Glass shards everywhere.
The female secretary standing by said nothing, just watched him silently.
"Damn bastards, how dare they come after me!"
"Notify Valag and his men to immediately conduct a city-wide search. By 8 PM, I must see the accountant in front of me!"
The enraged Maksim directly issued the order.
The female secretary pushed up her gold-rimmed glasses, then acknowledged and exited the office.
After a good venting, Maksim came to the window, looking at the scenery below. A cruel smile curved his lips.
"Since you're all so eager to deliver yourselves, then I'll show you what cruelty means."
