Damian moved through the house quietly like he was making sure no one could hear him or someone in particular.
The sky outside was still a pale gray, the kind that came just before morning fully claimed the day. He hadn't slept much, hadn't needed to check the clock to know that staying any longer in bed would only pull his thoughts back to the same place he'd been fighting all night. He knew staying home would only make things harder for him to ignore.
So he dressed early, his nerves still out of control even thought hours had passed since his hands were in hers. His hands felt....empty.
The plan was simple: leave before Ava woke up. Before he saw her face, before she stood in front of him, so close that his hands itched for something he knew would destroy the line he didn't want to acknowledge.
