"Why are you apologizing?" Raya asked, her brows furrowed in genuine confusion.
Adrian was now standing right in front of her, steady on his feet despite the bandages and the blood loss he had suffered. His presence remained as overwhelming and commanding as ever, tall, broad-shouldered, radiating that quiet, dangerous aura that always made the air feel thicker around him.
For a brief moment, however, he looked… lost.
Actually lost.
As if, for the first time in his life, he didn't quite know what the right answer was. The invincible Adrian Blake appeared momentarily uncertain, searching for words in a situation where power and control usually came so naturally.
"I'm apologizing… to make you happy," Adrian finally said, his voice low and sincere. "Anything for your happiness."
Raya blinked.
