Chapter 14 - The Desired One/ The Hidden One

[Gabriela POV]

It's been 4 days already. Stuck at home doing the bare minimum - online classes, eating, doing my things, sleeping and repeating. The same thing everyday.

These days Saber has been wandering around the house impatiently... he seems like a dog that wants to get out of the house. Archer continues to patrol the house even though it's small, but I feel bad about it. And the twins (Moon Cancer)... They haven't been doing much. They seem like dolls, but for some reason when Archer or I pamper them, they become affectionate... Weird.

Gabriela

— "...Sigh."

— (What time is it?)

(Looks at the clock on her computer)

— (It's almost noon. Maybe I'll just close my eyes.)

That was all. Nothing special. Just a short nap after classes, the kind where your body gives up before your mind agrees.

But sleep didn't come the way it was supposed to.

It wasn't darkness.

It was… light.

A cold morning light spilling over old stone. The air carried that damp scent of a closed palace, mixed with wax and aged wood. I wasn't in my own body—at least not in any normal sense. It felt like I was floating behind someone, invisible, tied to a thin thread pulling me into that scene.

I saw a boy.

Just a child.

Too small for the way he was being treated.

He walked through a wide corridor, far too large for him. His clothes were noble, but heavy, like they were swallowing him whole. He moved slowly, with a posture too straight for someone his age—not out of confidence, but because it looked like he'd already been taught that he wasn't allowed to seem weak, not even for a second.

There was silence around him.

But not a peaceful one. The kind of silence filled with people watching without speaking.

The boy stopped by a window.

And for a moment… he just looked like a kid.

His hand touched the glass. Outside, I saw the sky—clear, open, almost too beautiful for the closed-in space he stood in. He stayed there like he was trying to memorize it.

Like he was afraid he'd forget the world outside.

"One day…" I heard him say, quietly, almost to himself.

But he didn't finish the sentence.

Someone called him.

An adult voice. Sharp. Authoritative. His name wasn't clearly spoken, but his reaction was immediate—his body shut down, like a door slamming closed.

He turned.

And that was when I felt it.

It wasn't just a dream.

There was something there… a presence. A magical signature. Familiar. Ancient. As if the world itself was forcing me deeper into this memory.

The vision shifted.

Now it was training. Wood striking wood. An instructor correcting his stance without patience. The boy fell once. Then again. He got up without complaint. There was no pride in it—just habit.

Instructor

— "Again."

— "Straighter."

— "You can't hesitate."

And he didn't hesitate.

Even when he should have.

Even when it was obvious he wanted to stop.

And buried in all of it was something strange… the sense that he wasn't there by choice. As if he was being shaped into something no one had asked him if he wanted to become.

The scene shifted again.

Now it was night.

He was alone in a room far too large, sitting on the edge of a bed, with a small crown placed beside him. It didn't look heavy because of its metal.

It looked heavy because of what it meant.

He didn't touch it.

He just stared at it.

And something twisted in my chest—an emotion that didn't belong to me.

He whispered again, barely audible:

"Sebastião…"

The name fell into the air like a key turning in a lock.

And everything made sense too quickly.

The "Im a Knight from God".

The constant arrogance and pride.

The way he always felt slightly out of place, as if the world itself was pushing him toward a destiny too large for him.

And then I understood:

My Servant wasn't just a Servant.

I didn't summoned a ordinary Servant into a Holy Grail War.

He was someone who had existed.

And a certainty that shouldn't have been possible:

I knew his name now.

Not just Saber.

Saber is Dom Sebastião - O Desejo/ O Encoberto.

(Translation: Sebastian, King of Portugal - The Desired One / The Hidden One)

But then-

???

— "-Aster?... Maaassteerrr-!"

I wake up immediately from the dream and Saber is right in front of me. But he's very close to my face.

Gabriela (blushing slighty with Saber being close)

— "....."

— "...Dom... Sebastião...?"

I say his name in a whisper, like Im saying some sort of forbidden cast.

Saber (shocked)

— ".....!"

— "... How did you-!"

Gabriela (panicking)

— "I-I- Well- Uhhh- I was going to take a nap but suddenly I saw some memories of your childhood-!"

Just after I finished, Saber's face darkens and his face moves away, not close to my face anymore.

Saber

— "...Can you pretend you never saw that? Just... Please."

He's saying like I just stabbed him with words.

Gabriela

— "B-But... You are Dom Sebastião, right?? You are him - the real Dom Sebastião."

Saber

— "...Yes."

.....

I can't belive... It's really one of the most famous Kings of Portugal - Dom Sebastião.

If I remember correctly from history classes: He became king while still very young, like a child, because his father died early. So, while he grew up, other people ruled for him.

When he got older, Dom Sebastião began to dream of being a great hero — one of those knights from stories — and wanted to fight in wars to show that he was brave. One day, he decided to go fight in North Africa, in a place called Alcácer-Quibir.

Many people warned him that it was a bad idea… but he went anyway. And then the great tragedy happened: there was a huge battle, called the Battle of Alcácer-Quibir, and Portugal lost. Dom Sebastião disappeared — no one found his body. And this is where the story gets a little mysterious.

Since no one knew for sure what happened to him, a legend began to emerge: people believed that he had not died… and that one day he would return, on a foggy morning, to save Portugal. This belief became known as "Sebastianism"—basically, the idea that the missing king would return when the country needed him most. But that was belief, because after Dom Sebastião disappearance, it was the beginning of the end of the Portuguese Global Empire - Because of a young King who wanted to live his own fairy tale.

Saber (composing himself)

— "A-Anyway now since you know my name, please don't tell to anyone, ok?"

Gabriela

— "Y-Yeah sure..."

But actually I was way more shocked seeing ITS THE FREAKING DOM SEBASTIÃO HIMSELF.

But then a memory comes to mind. When I summoned Saber and he faced Berserker on that day... He seemed he knew who was Berserker...?

Gabriela

— "...Saber."

Saber

— "Hm? Yes, Master?"

Gabriela

— "... Who's Berserker?"
