Miroku held a little orange cat in her arms as they admired the moon together.
Tonight's moon was exceptionally large; even the spots on its surface could be seen clearly, like a flatbread with several scorched patches in the middle.
At first, Kairen was only licking Miroku's wrist, but before she realized it, he had started licking her chest.
Miroku felt a bit itchy, so she lifted Kairen up by the scruff of his neck and scolded him, "Don't get out of line!"
Kairen nodded and continued watching the moon in the sky together with Miroku.
The huge moon was reflected in his cat's eyes, and he softly said,
"I've heard that in ancient times there was a goddess who flew to the moon and never returned. Do you believe that?"
What Kairen was talking about was Ōtsutsuki Kaguya, who had been sealed inside the moon by her two sons, spending countless years accompanied only by stone pillars, soothing the cold loneliness in her heart.
Unexpectedly, Miroku nodded. She knew.
"A thousand years ago, a goddess descended from the heavens. She ruled the land and ushered in an era of absolute tyranny under a single ruler."
"People called her the Rabbit Goddess. In the end, she was sealed by the Sage of Six Paths together with his brother."
"This is the origin of the moon. There was no moon in ancient times. The moon we see now is the crystallization of the power of the Sage of Six Paths and his brother."
Kairen stared at Miroku in shock. Could it be that Miroku was also a transmigrator?!
This kind of secret was almost completely unknown, hidden only among old monsters who had survived for a thousand years. Why would Miroku know it?!
Seeing the shocked look in Kairen's eyes, Miroku smiled.
"Don't underestimate the heritage of us high priestess. We already existed before the era when the Rabbit Goddess arrived, so we have relatively complete records of ancient times."
Kairen thought about it. Judging from the power Mōryō displayed in the movie, it did not belong to the chakra system.
It should be a miraculous power unique to the era before ninjas appeared, special like senjutsu.
Seen this way, it wasn't too surprising that a line of high priestess with a thousand-year heritage would know about Ōtsutsuki Kaguya.
Seeing Kairen fall silent, Miroku continued, "My prophetic power tells me that the Rabbit Goddess will revive, and more and more gods and demons will ravage the entire land."
Kairen nodded. What Miroku said was right; the future was indeed full of disasters.
Any random nobody would jump out claiming they wanted to unify the Five Great Nations—those were nothing.
The most terrifying were the visitors from beyond the heavens—the Ōtsutsuki clan, those Ōtsutsuki gods with unimaginable power. No one knew how strong they truly were.
Thinking of this, Kairen's mood grew heavy.
The Ōtsutsuki clan was like Saiyans, searching for planets suitable for survival to colonize.
No—they were a group of Turles, planting God Trees and pursuing power.
Kairen could, with a single thought, create shadow clones that covered the entire planet.
But when his enemies became powerful enough to destroy celestial bodies, then no matter how bug-like his resurrection upon death ability was, he still wouldn't be able to win.
Over the past month, he had become far too inflated. He hadn't even taken Uchiha Madara seriously. It was time to reflect.
Don't be too much of a hotheaded idiot—being overly arrogant could get you killed.
Kairen then shook his head hard, flinging away the cowardly thoughts in his mind. A person had to live a bit more freely.
If you're timid and spineless, how are you supposed to please women?
Kairen looked at the huge, round moon in the night sky, and boundless ambition surged in his heart:
"One day, I'll lie on Ōtsutsuki Kaguya's belly and go all out! Every cat in the city will have to look up to me!"
As soon as the words fell, Miroku snorted coldly. "You lecherous cat!"
She vigorously toyed with Kairen's entire body, rubbing his fur into a complete mess.
"Hey, hey, hey… don't go too far. Be careful or I'll draw my gun!"
"Lecherous cat, take this!"
"Hahaha… stop scratching, stop scratching!"
That night slowly passed amid the two of them fooling around.
...
The next day, inside Miroku's boudoir.
Kairen rolled over and bumped into a slime. He pressed down hard a couple of times.
Immediately, an angry, delicate snort rang out, "Pervert! (ꐦ°᷄д°᷅)!"
Kairen didn't care at all! He continued kneading the slime.
"Smack!"
Miroku slapped Kairen across the face, instantly waking him up.
He rubbed his face and said matter-of-factly, "We slept in the same bed. What's wrong with me touching you a bit?"
Miroku's little face flushed bright red with anger.
"When did you climb onto my bed?!"
Kairen smiled. "Last night you hugged me to sleep like I was a cat. Don't you remember?"
Miroku thought back and finally understood everything. She cursed herself inwardly for being careless—so that little cat was actually a lustful wolf wearing cat skin.
"Go eat breakfast! After breakfast, we'll go deal with Mōryō!"
Kairen's voice eased Miroku's embarrassment.
Miroku nodded, summoned the palace maid, and instructed her to prepare breakfast.
The maid looked at Kairen with an unusual gaze. Sharing a room with the high priestess—clearly, Kairen had already been regarded as the high priestess's man.
As they walked out of Miroku's boudoir, the palace servants all lowered their heads, but there was a glimmer of light in their eyes. Presumably, they already knew their lord now had a man.
Kairen smiled. "Look, everyone is blessing us!"
Miroku pinched Kairen's cheek. "It's all your fault!"
"How can you blame me?!"
After eating the carefully prepared food, the two of them got up to leave.
Kairen bent down, letting Miroku jump onto his back, and carried her toward the shrine of the Land of Demons.
Along the way, Miroku introduced the demonic creature Mōryō to Kairen.
Miroku was a qualified high priestess and knew a great deal, unlike her daughter Shion.
It turned out that in ancient times, demons ran rampant.
There was a powerful high priestess who purified most of the demons in the world and set rules with the great demons of the age, forbidding them from interfering with the human realm.
