Chapter 156 - Chapter 156: A Special Abyss Mage

"Didn't we say to stop him? Why are you all running!" The Pyro Abyss Mage questioned his companions beside him as he ran.

"Why don't you stop him!" The Cryo Abyss Mage looked at the furious Diluc behind him and immediately retorted.

The aura of the human behind them clearly indicated that he was not someone it could defeat. Although sacrificing itself for The Order was its undeniable duty,

if possible, it still hoped to fulfill this duty a little later.

"At this rate, we'll all be caught!" The Pyro Abyss Mage teleported away again, gazing into the distance. A fiery red figure was rapidly approaching.

"Cryo Abyss Mage, Hydro Abyss Mage, freeze him for me later!" The Pyro Abyss Mage fully utilized its intelligence to come up with a countermeasure.

"Then you all better not run!" Two Abyss Mages, one blue and one white, stepped forward. They held their staffs and began chanting spells.

"Absolutely not!" The Pyro Abyss Mage, pulling the Electro Abyss Mage, nodded at them.

Tempered by the elements, Diluc's physical prowess had long surpassed that of ordinary people. In a short while, he arrived before the Abyss Mages.

"Hmph! It's rare for you to be smart enough to know you can't escape?" Diluc saw the Abyss Mages waiting quietly for him, and his greatsword began to ignite with raging flames.

He wouldn't be so foolish as to think the Abyss Mages would truly wait for him; there must be some conspiracy involved!

"Haha, you've misunderstood! I sincerely wish to surrender to you!" But to the shock of the other Abyss Mages, the Pyro Abyss Mage, upon seeing Diluc, slowly floated over, rubbing its short hands with a fawning expression.

"What! You're betraying The Order!"

"And here I thought you wanted to be promoted to Apostle? I think flame flowers are more suited for you!"

The moment the Pyro Abyss Mage spoke, the Abyss Mages immediately erupted in chaos. Since The Order's inception, there had never been a traitor; they never expected to witness one now.

Amidst the curses, only the Cryo Abyss Mage had some reservations. Did the Pyro Abyss Mage just give it a look?

The Cryo Abyss Mage looked towards the Pyro Abyss Mage and found that the Pyro Abyss Mage was giving it another look?

The Cryo Abyss Mage touched its head with its staff. What did it mean?

Seeing the Cryo Abyss Mage utterly confused, and the other few guys only knowing how to curse him, the Pyro Abyss Mage couldn't help but sigh. What kind of treasures were in The Order? How could The Order's plan be achieved like this?

"Hmm?" Diluc was puzzled to see the Pyro Abyss Mage approaching him without any protective measures, and even speaking words of surrender.

Could this Pyro Abyss Mage truly have had a change of heart and decided to surrender? Just as Diluc was wondering, he saw the Electro Abyss Mage in the distance had already made its move.

"Die, traitor!" The Electro Abyss Mage, filled with endless rage, hurled countless dark purple lightning orbs towards the Pyro Abyss Mage.

"Ah!" The Pyro Abyss Mage, without any defensive measures, took the full force of the blow, instantly getting torn and bruised.

Purple lightning coursed over its body, the fur on its collar became singed, and its warm orange mage dress turned scorched black.

"Damn it! Get behind me!" Diluc saw more lightning coming towards the Pyro Abyss Mage and immediately jumped in front of it.

It was rare to find an Abyss Mage willing to surrender; he couldn't let it die like this. He had many questions about the Abyss Order to ask.

He swung his greatsword, cutting down all the lightning, but in return, his hands were slightly scorched.

Diluc shook his hands, and the tingling sensation on his body quickly dissipated. He raised his greatsword with one hand and said to the Abyss Mages:

"You should learn to judge the situation. You are surrounded! If you're like your companion, I can guarantee your lives!"

Diluc saw that an Abyss Mage had actually surrendered and immediately thought of persuading them.

In the past, he would have directly slain them without a second thought, precisely because he knew nothing could be pried from the Abyss Mages' mouths.

But now it was different; if one surrendered, there would be more!

The Pyro Abyss Mage quietly stood up. The lightning on its body had dispersed, but the pain still lingered.

"Damn it, I'll get you back for this!" The Pyro Abyss Mage looked at the Electro Abyss Mage confronting Diluc in the distance, thinking about how to teach its companion, who had tried to kill it, a lesson when they returned.

"Hmph!" The Pyro Abyss Mage took a deep breath, then suddenly ran to Diluc and hugged him tightly.

"Freeze him for me!" The Pyro Abyss Mage shouted at its companions, and now its legs were also wrapped around Diluc.

"Hydro Abyss Mage! Do it!" The Cryo Abyss Mage was the first to react. Its staff waved, and huge chunks of ice fell from the sky, smashing onto Diluc and the Pyro Abyss Mage.

"Ah-- I'm going to die, I'm going to die!" The Pyro Abyss Mage cried out in pain, but even so, it didn't let go.

"Crap!" Diluc immediately realized something was wrong. With immense strength, he punched the Pyro Abyss Mage's head, instantly slamming it to the ground.

However, at this moment, the Hydro Abyss Mage's water bubbles also arrived. The huge water bubbles were as big as a person; if trapped, it would probably take a long time to break free.

Diluc swung his greatsword, and the water bubbles were unexpectedly fragile. As soon as the greatsword touched the bubbles, they burst.

Water splashed onto Diluc and the Pyro Abyss Mage, who were already covered in Cryo element, immediately Freezing both of them.

"Quick, carry the Pyro Abyss Mage, and run!" The Cryo Abyss Mage and Hydro Abyss Mage continuously applied Cryo and Hydro elements to Diluc, who was about to break free.

The Electro Abyss Mage nodded mechanically, then quickly ran to the Pyro Abyss Mage's side. It still hadn't figured out what exactly happened, but she still did as told. The Electro Abyss Mage quickly ran in front of the Pyro Abyss Mage, dragged the Pyro Abyss Mage, who had turned into an ice sculpture, and teleported away.

Seeing this, the Cryo Abyss Mage and Hydro Abyss Mage nodded at each other and then also teleported away.

As soon as the Cryo Abyss Mage and Hydro Abyss Mage disappeared, the shattered ice on Diluc's body exploded. He shook his head, looking in the direction the Abyss Mages had fled, and did not pursue them.

Diluc straightened his disheveled overcoat and pulled a crumpled note from his pocket.

Unfolding it, there was a drawing of a stick figure holding a book. Below it, a few crooked words read: Abyss Apostle, Abyss Fire.

Diluc felt the Abyss Mages' presence grow fainter and fainter, finally disappearing. A smile played on his lips: "I hope that when we meet again, you have enough information to buy your life."

"Wake up! Wake up!" At the entrance of Stormterror's Lair, the Abyss Mages were surrounding the unconscious Pyro Abyss Mage, performing some first aid methods they had heard from who knows where.

"Cough, cough, cough!" After some rough handling, the Pyro Abyss Mage finally regained consciousness. It looked at the Electro Abyss Mage beside it and immediately gave it a big slap.

"You wanted me dead, didn't you!" The Pyro Abyss Mage immediately stood up and started punching and kicking the Electro Abyss Mage.

"Stop hitting me, stop hitting me! Who knew you were faking it? You didn't discuss it with us beforehand!" The Electro Abyss Mage squatted on the ground, holding its head and shouting.

"If I had discussed it with you, we'd all be back in the Ley Lines by now!" The Pyro Abyss Mage grew even angrier upon hearing this.

It then turned and tapped the Cryo Abyss Mage's head, saying, "I thought you were the smartest among them, but you're just as foolish?"

It had been winking at the Cryo Abyss Mage so hard its eyelids were twitching, but the Cryo Abyss Mage hadn't reacted at all, which had infuriated it.

After tapping for a while, the Pyro Abyss Mage felt it was pointless and stopped. It sat on the ground and said to the Abyss Mages, "You all go. Don't follow me anymore."

It had just leaked the Apostle's information, and it didn't know when it would be discovered. If these companions continued to follow it, they might suffer unwarranted disaster.

"No way? We've been partners for so long? Just because we're a bit clumsy, you don't want us anymore?" The Hydro Abyss Mage looked at the Pyro Abyss Mage, thinking it was a bit too sensitive to setbacks.

Wasn't it just a narrow escape from death? They had experienced such things many times, hadn't they? Why was the Pyro Abyss Mage reacting so strongly this time?

"Forget it, forget it, you won't understand me. If you want to follow, then follow!" The Pyro Abyss Mage shook its head, thinking it had worried too much.

They were already peripheral figures in The Order; no one would care about them. And even if someone did, they wouldn't suspect information leakage.

After all, since the founding of the Abyss Order, all members had been tight-lipped, never actively revealing information.

Thinking of this, the Pyro Abyss Mage's mood lightened again.
