Chapter 97 - Northern Plains

The regional wall of the Northern Plains, known as the Licorice Regional Wall, appeared.

The Licorice Wall rose tens or even hundreds of thousands of feet into the sky, disappearing behind a veil of clouds while connecting with the heavens above. Within the line of sight, the wall stretched an unknown distance to the right, and then extended an unknown distance to the left. It served as a dividing barrier between the Northern Plains and the Western Desert.

Although the regional wall had entered Fang Tian's sight, it was still very far away from him, and he would need a day or more to reach it.

"The Western Desert… I won't miss you!"

His journey through the Western Desert had been extremely difficult and had wasted much of his precious time. Because of the harsh desert environment and the difficulties he faced from beasts and unexpected situations, his journey had been delayed for several months. But now the regional wall was within his sight, and it would not be long before he entered it.

Tall, dead grass stretched outside the Licorice Regional Wall, covering vast areas of sandy desert and rocky ground. In this way, the environment of the Northern Plains, composed of endless grasslands, overlapped with the land of the Western Desert, formed of sand and harsh rocky terrain. Fang Tian had seen a similar scene when he first entered the Western Desert.

"This phenomenon is strange… These environments are not supposed to overlap with each other, yet they do so in defiance of logic… Ah, why should I trouble my mind with this? I have more important matters to care about."

Fang Tian gradually approached the regional wall, and the grassy land became clearer to him until he finally descended upon it. When Fang Tian stood upon the dead grass, he looked upward where the Licorice Regional Wall stretched to an unknown height, touching the pale white sky. To his right, the regional wall continued until it connected with the Central Continent Regional Wall, while to his left the wall extended toward an end unknown to him.

Fang Tian laughed as he spoke aloud.

"Well, I suppose this is my last moment in the Western Desert… No words can express how nervous I am."

With that, he took his first steps toward the regional wall.

Inside the Northern Plains Regional Wall, tall grass spread everywhere. Unlike the grass outside, this grass was alive and full of vitality. Along with the grass there was also a thick fog that covered everything.

Furthermore, the feeling of rejection returned and pressed upon Fang Tian, while an invisible pressure intensified upon his aperture, once again suppressing his cultivation. His cultivation gradually fell from the peak stage of rank four to the middle stage of rank four, where it was stabilized.

"I never fully adapted to the Western Desert, yet my cultivation remains the same as when I was suppressed on my first day there… This is interesting. I was not aware of this."

Fang Tian had assumed that if he crossed the Northern Plains Regional Wall, he would be suppressed by a full rank just as when he crossed into the Western Desert. But this did not happen. Instead, his cultivation merely returned to the middle stage. This discovery was certainly excellent, especially in the Northern Plains, where one could not gain recognition from others without strength.

The threshold for entering the world of Gu Masters in the Northern Plains was both easy and difficult. If you possessed strength, you had already fulfilled half the requirements. The next step, however, was to find a tribe to join. After all, on the surface only the righteous path could enter the Imperial Court Blessed Land to shelter from the snowstorm that arrived every ten years.

But in truth, the competition that raged in the Northern Plains was merely a game played by the Huang Jin tribes, descendants of Venerable Immortal Giant Sun, to recruit seeds of Immortal Gu Masters and suppress the demonic path. Because of this, the Huang Jin tribes had held dominion over the Northern Plains for nearly three hundred thousand years!

Fang Tian was aware of this, and for that reason he had already prepared several ideas to enter the righteous path before the snowstorm began and before the competition for control of the Imperial Court Blessed Land started.

"After entering the Northern Plains, I must find a place to hide and refine all my Gu worms simultaneously so that I can use my true strength without restriction… I must also wait until my aura adapts to the Northern Plains. Only then can I move to obtain the true inheritance of Thieving Heaven, located near Crescent Lake, and then blend into the righteous path of the Northern Plains before the competition for the Imperial Court Blessed Land begins."

In the middle of the regional wall, Fang Tian ran continuously. Several hours had already passed since he entered the Licorice Regional Wall. Unfortunately, Fang Tian had not been lucky. Because of that, he had chosen a location where the regional wall was extremely thick, causing his crossing to take a long time.

"In the Southern Border, my luck was good—I found a suitable spot to cross into the Western Desert. But now it seems that the Western Desert journey consumed much of my luck, and my fortune has become ordinary at best…"

Fang Tian sighed as he continued running within the regional wall. Thick gray fog surrounded his body, soaking his clothes until they clung to him. Beneath his feet, grass was crushed under his boots.

After another hour, Fang Tian could see some of the light of the setting sun. Its orange glow mixed with purple pierced through the regional wall, and some of it reached the interior. Upon seeing this, Fang Tian increased his speed, breaking through the thick mass of the regional wall and entering the Northern Plains.

The exhausted Fang Tian collapsed onto the ground, supporting himself with his palms against the grassy earth. Grass slipped into the gaps between his slender fingers. The texture of the dry grass was extremely clear, causing a joyful smile to form on his face.

"I am in the Northern Plains now!"

Fang Tian let out a long breath of relief and laughed happily for a long time, his loud voice echoing across the vast land.
