Chapter 61 - CHAPTER 61

c61: The Plot Is in Progress

"Lord Beerus, please take a look!"

After Whis gently tapped the end of his angelic staff against the marble floor, a shining projection unfolded in midair. Within it, a vivid scene appeared the legendary battle on Planet Namek, where Son Goku faced off against the tyrant Frieza, both locked in their life-or-death struggle as the planet quaked beneath them.

"Huh? I've seen something like this before… Who is that warrior?" Beerus narrowed his golden eyes, his tail swaying lazily behind him. The sight of Goku's golden hair and blazing aura stirred a faint sense of familiarity deep within him.

"That is a Saiyan, Lord Beerus," Whis replied serenely, holding his staff at his side. "His name is Son Goku though his Saiyan name is Kakarot. He is one of the few survivors of Planet Vegeta."

"Planet Vegeta?" Beerus flicked his ear, thinking for a moment. "Didn't Frieza destroy that planet?"

"Yes," Whis nodded. "At your very suggestion, in fact. You ordered Frieza to eliminate the Saiyans because you feared they might someday become a threat. However, a few survived those who were off-world at the time, including Prince Vegeta himself."

"Hmph… so the Saiyan royal brat is still alive?" Beerus smirked. "Interesting. I see the little monkeys managed to cling to life longer than I expected."

"Indeed," Whis answered with his usual calm tone. "Their warrior spirit has only grown stronger over the years. This one, Son Goku, even achieved the legendary transformation once thought to be a mere myth the Super Saiyan."

"Super Saiyan…" Beerus repeated, tapping his clawed finger against his armrest as he floated toward the vision. "Yes… that word stirs something in me…"

His sharp feline eyes flashed briefly, a spark of memory surfacing from the depths of a long slumber. "Super Saiyan… Super Saiyan God…!"

"Pardon, Lord Beerus?" Whis tilted his head in mild curiosity.

Beerus rubbed his temple and growled softly. "It was in my dream, Whis. A warrior with fiery red hair and a divine aura. He challenged me and his power shook even the stars! But… what was his name again… Super Saiyan God? Super Human God?" He groaned, rolling onto the sofa, tail flicking in frustration. "Ugh, I can't remember!"

Whis chuckled, lightly tapping his staff to conjure a tray of delicacies tempura, ramen, and steamed buns, each dish perfectly arranged. "Why not ask the Prophet Fish, Lord Beerus? If it was truly a prophetic dream, I'm sure the fish will confirm whether the Super Saiyan God exists."

At the mention of the Prophet Fish, Beerus perked up immediately, eyes gleaming with renewed excitement. "Ah! That's right! The Prophet Fish always knows. Let's see what it says!"

"Yes, my lord," Whis said with a smile, transforming Beerus's silk pajamas into his customary Gods of Destruction attire with a flick of his staff. The symbols of destruction shimmered gold against his purple skin.

After finishing his meal, Beerus leapt from his seat, stretching his arms. "Let's go, Whis! I want to confirm if my dream means the Saiyan God is finally born."

"As you wish," Whis replied, his halo glinting softly as he followed behind.

The two soared out from the vast Temple of Destruction, surrounded by glowing motes of starlight. Moments later, they descended upon a lush lawn outside the main palace where a small, round fish floated lazily above a pond of divine water.

"Prophecy Fish!" Beerus called out, voice echoing across the realm. "Wake up! I have something important to ask you!"

The tiny fish stirred, blinking its wide eyes. "Mmm… Lord Beerus? Oh no, you're not planning to destroy me again, are you?"

Beerus folded his arms, impatience flickering across his face. "Enough chatter! Tell me does the being known as the Super Saiyan God truly exist?"

Hearing Beerus's thunderous voice echo across the divine gardens, the Prophet Fish trembled. The last thing it wanted was to face the God of Destruction in a bad mood. But it knew hiding was pointless. No one could escape Beerus when he was curious.

"Da!"

The Prophet Fish darted forward too quickly, flapping its tiny fins in panic, and ended up smacking face-first into the soft lawn before bouncing twice.

"Ouch…" it whimpered, shaking its tiny bottle-shaped body before hovering nervously before Beerus. "Ahaha… I was just out for a nice swim, Lord Beerus. What brings you here so suddenly?"

Beerus folded his arms, tail swishing with impatience. "Prophet Fish, do you remember what you told me thirty-nine years ago? You predicted that I would face my ultimate rival. Well, I just dreamed about him and not one, but two powerful beings appeared!"

The Prophet Fish blinked rapidly. "Hmm? Did I… say that?"

"You obviously did!" Beerus shot back, leaning down so close the fish could feel his breath.

"Oh! R-right, of course! I must've said it," the fish stammered, rubbing its fin against its head. "But, uh… I don't quite recall who that rival was supposed to be. Something like… Super… Super Saiyan God, maybe?"

Beerus's ears perked up immediately. "That's it! Super Saiyan God! The name rings a bell yes, that's the one from my dream!" His eyes glowed with excitement. "At last, the warrior fated to challenge me has appeared!"

Whis, standing beside him with an amused smile, raised an eyebrow. "How fascinating. So the prophecy is beginning to unfold. But, my lord, are you truly certain this 'Super Saiyan God' is as strong as you think? Prophetic dreams can sometimes be… interpretive."

Beerus grinned, baring his sharp teeth. "Maybe so. But if my dream shows someone strong enough to rival me, I won't rest until I find him. It's been far too long since I had a proper fight."

"Indeed," Whis said softly. "You haven't battled seriously since your match with the dinosaur of the Eastern Galaxy three centuries ago."

Beerus smirked. "That thing was chewy and boring. Anyway enough talk. Now that we know this warrior's name, it's time to track him down! But first…" He clutched his stomach. "I'm starving. Whis, prepare something delicious. We'll eat, then hunt!"

Moments later, in the grand restaurant of the Temple of Destruction, Beerus devoured mountains of divine cuisine with both hands. Plates flew past as he tore through courses of roasted starfish, nebula soup, and spicy meteor rice.

Halfway through a mouthful, Beerus suddenly paused. "By the way, Whis… this Super Saiyan God could he be connected to that Saiyan you showed me earlier? The one called Son Goku?"

Whis poured tea into his cup and smiled. "It's possible, Lord Beerus. Goku is certainly a Saiyan, but the form you saw in your dream transcends the normal transformations. To know for sure, you'd have to investigate personally or perhaps consult Supreme Kai. He may sense divine energy that we cannot."

Beerus swallowed the last of his food and leaned back lazily on his floating sofa. "Hmph. Supreme Kai, huh? It's been thousands of years since I saw that nervous little god. I wonder if he's still sealed or finally free from that silly confinement."

Whis chuckled. "You mean the sealing caused by Majin Buu's rampage, correct? His seal has long been broken by none other than Son Goku himself."

Beerus froze mid-bite, eyes widening. "That Saiyan again? So he freed the Supreme Kai… and pulled out the Z Sword?"

Whis nodded. "Precisely. He even surpassed the limits of a mortal during the Buu incident. If anyone could possess a connection to your prophetic dream, it's him."

Beerus's expression shifted from surprise to intrigue. "Interesting… That mortal Saiyan freed the Kai I helped imprison, wields divine energy, and can push past limits of the gods themselves. Perhaps this Goku is indeed the key."

Whis turned toward the open balcony, staff in hand. "In that case, I'll contact Supreme Kai and inform him of our visit. He may know more about the origins of the Super Saiyan God."

"Fine," Beerus said, waving his hand lazily. "Do as you please. Just make sure the Kai is ready to answer my questions. I'd rather not meet another trembling fool who wastes my time."

"Of course, my lord." Whis bowed slightly and began walking toward the exit.

But before Whis could step through the doorway, Beerus's voice stopped him. "Wait, Whis… you're certain Supreme Kai's seal isn't still intact? You're not sending me to some novice who barely knows which end of the staff to hold, are you?"

Whis smiled faintly. "You have my word, Lord Beerus. The Supreme Kai's seal was undone years ago. And as I said, it was that Saiyan Son Goku who made it possible."

Beerus leaned forward, his golden eyes flashing. "So… everything leads back to this Goku. A Saiyan strong enough to alter divine fate itself. Perhaps… this is the beginning of something truly entertaining."

Whis inclined his head, his halo shimmering. "I shall return shortly with word from Supreme Kai."

And with that, he glided silently out of the dining hall, the hum of his staff resonating softly through the halls of the Gods of Destruction's temple as Beerus sat in thought, a slow grin spreading across his face.
