Sienna Thornton had worked all day and was exhausted. She had just put the child to sleep and was ready to sleep herself when Simon Forrester, feeling perfectly fine, coaxed her to the third floor. When she refused to go, he carried her up.
It was the hottest August of the year, and the third floor had no air conditioning. Even with the viewing deck doors wide open, the whole place felt like a steamy sauna. Sienna Thornton felt sticky all over the moment Simon Forrester put her down.
She was tired and hot and just wanted to escape to the cool room to sleep, so she tried to run back to the second floor when Simon Forrester wasn't looking. But as soon as she reached the landing, she was carried back up.
