The nurse was scolded until she hung her head low, forced to stay put and attend to the so-called "critical" patient, who showed no signs of improvement.
She wasn't a fool; she understood the ways of the world. After a few glances at the little note, she realized these specially marked patients were acquaintances of the hospital director, just like the two patients being treated now, commonly known as people with connections.
No wonder, even after half an hour, no students or staff got any chance to see a doctor.
She felt deeply unfair, but dared not say anything.
After all, she had encountered such situations working in the hospital before, where patients who had queued up were pushed aside by acquaintances with special connections. She could only swallow her anger.
What could a mere nurse say?
Seeing hundreds, if not thousands, of students around, who only needed a bit of aid to get back on their feet out of danger, yet were receiving no help, was truly heart-wrenching.
