Could it be that the big spider is just all show and no substance?
The doubt passed quickly; there was no time for doubt now, only for escape.
Sharp thorns scratched her skin, hard stones bruised her bare legs, yet she kept running until she was exhausted.
She hid behind a large tree, and when the noise behind her ceased, she poked her head out. There was no sign of the big spider.
The little girl let out a sigh of relief, whispering extremely softly:
"Escaped."
Suddenly, an oppressive feeling came from above, like being stared at by the lion, king of the beasts.
The little girl stiffly raised her head slowly.
She saw eight familiar red lanterns up on the tree—those were the eight eyes of the big spider.
She was in despair; she hadn't shaken off the big spider at all.
Even though she had left it far behind, the moment she stopped to rest, it had already caught up and silently climbed up the tree.
Could it be that its speed was not as slow as it seemed?
