Cherreads

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

During dinner, Su Xiaocai said to the robot butler, "Xiao Wanzi, your cooking has improved again. This garlic spare rib dish is delicious. I want to eat it again tomorrow."

The robot butler had a round head and a round body, just a cylindrical iron lump, but its hands were very nimble, especially adept at making gourmet food.

It was independently created by Su Xiaocai and had a highly evolved program with a personality model influenced by its environment.

No one knew who influenced it, but it was so straightforward it was scary.

"Alright, Caicai, I can make it for you for the next half month."

Daddy Su glared, "Don't praise it, once you start, it never stops. I want radish beef soup tomorrow."

Su Xiaocai would know next week whether she was accepted, and she had to go to school early. He wasn't going to endure half a month of garlic spare ribs.

Xiao Wanzi said in a babyish voice, "Su Xiaocai is still growing. Give it a break, will you?"

Daddy Su was exasperated: "Two dunces."

In the end, Daddy Su had the upper hand. The radish beef soup triumphed over the garlic spare ribs simply because he didn't buy ribs for the next day.

After dinner, Su Xiaocai took a walk and went to the exercise room.

The Qi Mechanism had already been cultivated; it couldn't be neglected.

In her past life, Su Xiaocai had never trained in Qi, nor had she heard of Qi Cultivation; she only had a naturally strong physique.

When she first became a warrior, she secretly watched a senior instructor perform a Body Training Technique and practiced it quietly.

She managed to survive on the battlefield for thirty years, solely relying on this Body Training Technique.

Coincidentally, this technique was a perfect match for Qi training, at least it was for her.

Su Xiaocai sat cross-legged, feeling the Qi flowing within her body, letting it circulate continuously before she stood up.

She slowly raised her arms, embraced an imaginary circle, and pushed out...

The Body Training Technique and Qi Sensing complemented each other, elevating her body and mind to a higher state. Each breath was rhythmic. After completing a set, she seamlessly transitioned into another, finding joy in it, practicing faster and faster.

A small whirlwind formed around Su Xiaocai, making the windows rattle with the gust.

Daddy Su, trying to peek at his daughter practicing martial arts, had just opened the glass door a crack when his face got blown askew. What the heck, where did this strong wind come from indoors?

After finishing two sets and stopping, Su Xiaocai was pleasantly surprised to find she had made progress again, becoming a Level Three Martial Artist at a rapid pace.

Turning her head, she saw Daddy Su standing at the door. She burst into an exaggerated laugh, "Dad, which hairdresser styled your flattop like a plane? It's impressive."

Daddy Su's hair was all blown diagonally backward, revealing the high hairline under his iron bangs,

"Who else, in this place, all the hairdressers are hundreds of kilometers away at the land space station." Daddy Su's expression was gloomy as his anger bubbled up.

"So it was your craftsmanship that made the effect?" Su Xiaocai had no idea she was responsible for it, and laughed herself into stitches.

Daddy Su was raving angrily, "You're changing your major to become a Mecha Master. You rascal, always full of energy, mischievous all the time."

"How am I being mischievous? I've clearly been diligently practicing Qi Sensing."

"Do you think I believe you?"

"I don't care; I just want to grow vegetables, to be a farmer, to be your sweet little girl." Su Xiaocai rolled on the ground, activating her childish stubbornness skills.

Daddy Su shivered; this wouldn't do. He feared that in four years, Su Xiaocai would be even stronger, constantly raiding the house and damaging his greenhouse's precious plants.

After living together for ten years, Daddy Su naturally knew the kind of life Su Xiaocai wanted. Carefree farming, leisurely pet-raising, sneaking off with eggs.

This wasn't something a normal person would think of, given how she lived her life before...

Let her get knocked around by society for a few decades and then come back home.

In the Interstellar Era, when people averaged two hundred years, sixty or seventy was just past their energetic peak.

"Let's both take a step back, change your university major to 'open to assignment,' or once you leave, this planet will refuse you re-entry."

Su Xiaocai: "..."

Truly, the older the wiser. Being a Planet Master was indeed formidable.

So Su Xiaocai skipped her bath, and under Daddy Su's supervision, she went online and added 'open to assignment' to her university preference.

Today was the last day to submit; after ten at night, nothing could be changed in her preferences.

Swiftly completed the submission.

Daddy Su was incredibly crafty, yet Su Xiaocai remained vigilant. Her application for college only included the agriculture department, with no other majors.

Her grades ranked among the top hundred in the entire star system. It was impossible she wouldn't be accepted.

Daddy Su turned around to call his acquaintances at the Military Training School that Su Xiaocai had listed as her first choice, determined to make sure she wouldn't end up as a farmer.

The ultimate tug-of-war between the two; who would win was still unknown.

Three days later, Su Xiaocai was accepted into the Military Training School, becoming a student of the Agricultural Research Institute.

Daddy Su held Xiao Wanzi and wept bitterly, "My life is so bitter."

Su Xiaocai hummed and swayed her hips, proudly flaunting her electronic acceptance letter in front of Daddy Su.

"How is this possible, does the Military Training School have a screw loose, accepting a vegetable-growing loser like you?"

"My theory was perfect, if my robot can farm, what can you do about it?"

The old and the young bickered endlessly.

Before Su Xiaocai left, Daddy Su, who said she wasn't welcome back, thoughtfully prepared lots of snacks and sauces for her.

Dried sweet potatoes, beef jerky, all kinds of fruits, mushroom sauce, chili sauce…

"Dad, I'm going to school, not fleeing from a famine." Su Xiaocai said as she stuffed everything into the Space Button, which also contained her two self-made mechas, just in case of emergencies.

"Take them if I say take them. You just eat these. Don't take Xiao Wanzi with you."

So Xiao Wanzi was the true love, huh?

Su Xiaocai feigned sadness for three seconds, "Alright, I know I'm your good daughter. A good daughter should honor her dad."

"When you're not making me mad..." Daddy Su paused in silence, "No, there isn't a time when you're not making me mad."

Su Xiaocai raised her chin, "I don't believe it. Come on, let me give you a taste of having an obedient daughter."

She dragged Daddy Su to her workshop.

"Why did you bring me here?" Daddy Su hadn't entered Su Xiaocai's workshop in a while. She had insisted on building it when she was a kid. It was big enough to fit six mechas.

Su Xiaocai, with a slight obsession with tidiness, kept all her tools and parts neatly arranged. It was pleasing to the eye.

On the workbench sat an object, covered with canvas.

Su Xiaocai uncovered it, revealing the object.

A mechanical arm.

The design was similar to commercially available ones, with a sleek silver exterior.

Daddy Su rolled his eyes, thinking she was wasting money tinkering with new stuff again.

Su Xiaocai: "You're not allowed to scold me. I only accept praising education."

Daddy Su choked, what a thick-skinned girl!

Indifferent, he picked up the mechanical arm with both hands, immediately detecting something off. His pupils dilated with astonishment.

So light?

"You…" Daddy Su's throat went dry. The mechanical arm he now wore was bought from outside, very heavy, not nimble, and often strained his muscles. He knew Su Xiaocai had been smart since she was a child, but he never expected she could create something so remarkable.
