Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Methods of Gaining Experience

The handgun's experience seems to be gained by shooting... or rather, using it.

And my own experience?

Yang Yuan tried hard to recall every detail from before.

"First, I disassembled the handgun, cleaned the dust inside, and then reassembled it..."

At the moment of reassembly, he gained a bit of experience.

"Is it possible to gain a bit of experience by assembling an item?"

"Or do I have to disassemble an item and then reassemble it to gain experience?"

With this thought, he hesitated for a moment and then disassembled the handgun in his hand.

After disassembling, the handgun's level information disappeared.

He wasn't in a hurry and took apart all the components before starting to reassemble them.

Soon, the handgun was reassembled.

However, this time he didn't gain any personal experience, but the data above the handgun, which had disappeared before, reappeared.

"Can an item only be assembled once?"

He thought somewhat regretfully, "Or is my idea wrong?"

This matter needs to be verified with something else to be sure.

During this period, he inadvertently showed the handgun to Zhao Jiayan and Jiang Yiyi, but neither of them had any special reaction.

So, unless expected, only he could see the data on the handgun.

"Oh, can I make things myself? Will the things I make give experience?"

With these thoughts in mind, he saw Zhao Jiayan had drunk enough and was preparing to dissect the wolf carcass. He quickly said, "Throw away the innards, only take the edible parts, and don't break the Wolf Sinew. Take it out separately."

"Throw away the innards?" Zhao Jiayan exclaimed in surprise.

The little girl Jiang Yiyi also showed reluctance.

"Yes, throw away the wolf's head as well; just keep the meat from the chest and abdomen. The three of us can't eat much. In this weather, carrying too much will just lead to rot. I can't move fast due to injury, and only you can carry things. We need to catch up with the main group quickly; taking too much will affect our speed."

Seeing Zhao Jiayan's face full of reluctance, Yang Yuan explained, "Before, you were hungry because there were too many people, but now that the parasites are all gone, we won't lack food anymore."

He was very confident in this. Having absorbed the owner's skills in shooting and survival experience, along with gaining the item upgrade advantage, obtaining food in the future would definitely be vastly easier.

This world is merely dry, not all the beasts are dead. As long as one has strength, getting food isn't difficult.

"Alright then."

Despite still being quite reluctant, Zhao Jiayan decided to listen to Yang Yuan.

Because she knew Yang Yuan was right. If it wasn't for his reckless kindness in saving people who didn't work, they might still have been hungry, but they wouldn't have been in such a poor situation.

With this in mind, she quickly dissected the wolf carcass, skillfully skinning it, then cutting out the wolf belly meat and tenderloin, and finally extracting the Wolf Sinew.

Looking at the wolf blood flowing all over the ground, she said with a pained and angry expression, "What a pity our water bottles were taken away by Liang Gao's group; otherwise, we could have collected wolf blood, which doesn't spoil easily."

"If they know Big Brother has awakened and killed a giant wolf, they'll definitely regret it!" Jiang Yiyi said expressionlessly.

"It's better that they left. Recognizing betrayal early on can reduce harm."

Yang Yuan said calmly, "That's enough. Don't take too much, let's hurry and set off. In such hot weather, we might not even finish this amount. If it rots, it'll be a waste. We need to exchange some with the military for non-perishable food and necessary water."

As he spoke, he struggled to stand up.

Jiang Yiyi quickly came over to support him.

"Thank you."

Yang Yuan expressed his gratitude and began the journey with the little girl's assistance.

Drinking wolf blood restored quite a bit of his strength, but his waist injury still severely affected his movement, making his walking speed even slower than the little girl Jiang Yiyi.

However, fortunately, Jiang Yiyi and Zhao Jiayan didn't abandon him, or he likely would've had to travel through another dimension again.

Because in the previous situation, without someone's help, he wouldn't have had time to research the upgrade advantage and would've been torn apart by the pursuing giant wolf.

Now, he was the burden. Fortunately, these two women were not heartless like the others.

Zhao Jiayan quickly wrapped over twenty pounds of wolf meat and Wolf Sinew with the wolf skin, tied it into a knot, and slung it over her shoulder to catch up.

As she walked, she kept looking back, feeling extremely pained over leaving behind so much food, probably because she had been starved too harshly before.

But she also knew these things were beyond her capacity to carry, and taking them would only slow them down.

"Are you okay?" She soon caught up with Yang Yuan and asked worriedly.

"Not a big problem." Yang Yuan replied.

He could feel that his waist injury had stopped bleeding and was no longer inflamed, so it may scab over in two or three days at most.

With normal walking speed, the three of them moved along. While Yang Yuan tried hard to increase their speed, it was still difficult for them to pick up the pace.

It was almost going dark, and they still hadn't caught up with the main group. Not only were Zhao Jiayan and Jiang Yiyi anxious, but Yang Yuan himself was also very anxious.

Only the military had the ability to dig wells for water. If they couldn't catch up with the main group, they wouldn't have any way to gather water.

The ground showed very obvious traces of a large group passing by, so there was no worry about getting lost.

As they were walking, Jiang Yiyi suddenly turned her gaze nervously to the right, her little face showing a hint of terror, "Something is coming."

Zhao Jiayan's face changed slightly, and she urgently looked over.

Yang Yuan also looked over in confusion, taking out his handgun but seeing nothing.

While he wondered, suddenly a shadow swiftly charged out from the forest: it was a stone giant over three meters tall. It appeared heavy, but strangely it moved almost silently.

"It's a Stone Monster! Damn, we have to run!" Zhao Jiayan turned pale.

The Stone Monsters are common creatures in this Barbaric World; they like lying on the ground sunbathing asleep and hardly move.

Once awakened, however, they would relentlessly pursue any creature that disturbed their slumber to death.

The most troublesome part is that these creatures have very tough bodies which blades and swords scarcely harm, and ordinary firearms don't work on them.

"Can't run; I'm too slow."

Yang Yuan urgently raised the handgun to shoot.

"Bang bang!!"

He fired twice in a row, hitting the Stone Monster's forehead but only caused stones to splinter without shattering the head completely.

This amount of 'damage' didn't even slow the Stone Monster's speed.

So he quickly changed his target, aiming at the Stone Monster's leg joints.

"Bang bang bang!!!"

Four powerful bullets directly shattered half of the Stone Monster's left leg joint, causing its heavy body to suddenly collapse sideways.

By this time, it was only over ten meters away from them.

"You actually managed to injure it!"

Zhao Jiayan exclaimed in surprise and joy. From what she knew, such creatures could only be harmed by assault rifles.

But that was just harm.

Yet Yang Yuan had injured it with a knockoff handgun, making her extremely surprised.

Yang Yuan urgently reloaded the handgun and took a quick glance at the handgun's data:

[LV.2: 7/10 (Quality handgun, effective range sixty meters, power is considered quite good among handguns.)]

Seven points of experience.

Sure enough, the handgun's experience is gained by shooting, averaging one point of experience per shot.

Seeing the Stone Monster's leg joints rapidly growing back, he dared not delay and urgently fired six more shots, emptying the freshly loaded bullets, finally completely breaking the Stone Monster's left leg joint.
