Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Encounter with a Puppy 6

"Oh, sorry, I don't remember," Ethan Hayes replied quite calmly.

Don't remember??

Vivian York stared at him with wide eyes, full of disbelief.

Ethan propped one arm on the table, his long, slender hand supporting his chin, as he looked at Vivian sitting beside him.

The expression on this guy's face was really amusing, with his fair and clean cheeks and his big, round eyes almost bulging out of their sockets, just like a little cat whose fur had been ruffled.

If she hadn't said she was already a freshman in college, he would have really thought she was just a middle schooler. Oh, no, actually when I saw her from behind at the subway station entrance just now, she looked just like a grade schooler.

Ethan curled his lips into a smile, leaning closer to Vivian and said with a grin, "Yeah, I don't remember. Anyway, the scores were bad, failed everything, so what's the point of remembering them?"

"If I remember correctly, Meridian First High School should be a top-ranked high school, right?" Vivian looked at his handsome face that had suddenly leaned closer and frowned, instinctively moving her head back before continuing, "How did you get into Meridian First High School with grades like that?"

"..."

Ethan's smile froze instantly. After a moment, he straightened up, saying coldly, "Mind your own business."

This guy changes his expression too quickly, right??

Seeing that this topic was going nowhere, Vivian had no choice but to randomly pick up the top book from the stack on the table. Hmm... it was a math book.

"Let's start with math then..." Vivian opened her math book, took out a few sheets of scratch paper, and began to explain to Ethan attentively.

Outside the study, Mrs. Hayes leaned over, pressing her ear to the door, frowning as she tried hard to hear what was happening inside.

Mr. Hayes, holding a fruit platter, looked at his wife's posture, couldn't help but softly say, "Honey, what are you doing??"

"Shh..." Mrs. Hayes turned her head quickly and gestured to her husband to be quiet, then whispered softly, "Vivian is tutoring our Ethan. I don't hear any noise inside, which means Ethan is being good and not bullying the girl."

"Isn't that obvious? We're still at home right now. If he dared to bully her, I'd have to break his legs," Mr. Hayes said somewhat speechlessly.

"Sigh... that's true. I just wonder what will happen next week when we're not home," Mrs. Hayes said, losing interest in eavesdropping after hearing her husband's words. She walked back to the living room, sat down on the sofa, and sighed repeatedly. "You know, the kid did so well in middle school, but suddenly lost interest in studying in high school. Seeing his grades plummet, when I ask him what happened, he doesn't say anything. What are we supposed to do?"

"If you ask me, the kid's in his final year now. You should stop working on those research projects and stay home to support him during this critical year," Mr. Hayes suggested as he popped a grape into his mouth.

"Give up my research projects? Why don't you say you'll stop? Mrs. Hayes immediately disagreed upon hearing this, "My project is just this close to success, and once completed, it's something that benefits all of humanity. What about you? Why don't you give up your engineering work?"
