Ethan returned to his apartment complex at four in the afternoon.
The sun was slightly tilted westward, the trees along the paths of the complex were lush and green. A gentle breeze occasionally carried a sweet floral fragrance, while one or two birds flapped their wings and flew by, arousing the laughter and jumping of the kindergarten children who had just been released from school.
Before him was clearly a tranquil and beautiful scene, yet for some reason, the closer Ethan got to his building, the more obvious his unease became.
By the time he reached the bottom of his building, Ethan took out his key card from his pocket, fumbling two or three times before finally retrieving it, swiping the card to enter, and then taking the elevator up to the 28th floor.
As the elevator doors opened, he glanced at the empty corridor, a sudden wave of disappointment welled up inside him.
She didn't come??
Or has she already left??
