"I'm hungry," Melody Thorne said, wanting to get down.
"I'm hungry too," Jared Quinn's gaze was fixed tightly on her.
"There's food over there," Melody Thorne said, clearly missing the mood, as she pulled back her foot and jumped off the table, barefoot, heading to eat.
The thick white plush carpet in Jared Quinn's office was very comfortable to walk on.
Just as she sat down, she got up again to return to the bedroom to fetch Timmy.
Timmy was half asleep, and Melody Thorne was afraid of startling him, so she spoke very softly, "Little darling, time to eat. You can sleep after eating."

Timmy let out a grunt and rested his head on Melody Thorne's shoulder, continuing to sleep.
Melody Thorne kept calling him persistently.
The more Jared Quinn listened, the more his brow furrowed. He understood his son well enough; clearly awake but pretending to be asleep just to make Melody Thorne hold him.
"Timmy!" Jared Quinn called out sternly.
