Melody Thorne watched that scene with a cold expression.
"Miss Thorne, you're not naïve enough to think that just because I asked you to come over, I'm really only here to trade something with you, are you?" Councilor Gu kicked the woman in front of him aside and strode over to Melody Thorne, very close, lowering his head to sniff the scent on her body, his eyes narrowing in satisfaction.
No wonder she's the woman Jared Quinn's so hung up on—even the way she smells is that good.
"All of this is thanks to you. I ought to collect some interest, don't you think?" Councilor Gu hooked a hand under Melody Thorne's chin, grinding it hard.
Melody slapped away his disgusting hand, voice dripping with mockery. "Councilor Gu, your IQ clearly isn't that high. As long as we're in Ardenia, as long as we're on Jared Quinn's turf, it doesn't matter whether you've gotten the Hawthorne Family's army or not—if you so much as lay a finger on me, you're not walking out of here alive."
