The once-transparent barrier now glowed an ominous crimson red, dyeing the night sky in hues of dread. Strange, distorted sounds began to echo from all directions — chewing, whispering, roaring, blending into a nauseating symphony that sent shivers down the spines of everyone trapped inside.
It wasn't just noise. It was madness whispering through the air.
Amidst the chaos, Gojo Satoru looked up at the massive red dome with unrestrained fascination.
"Now this is interesting. The first time I've seen something like this. I should record it."
Unlike the trembling crowd, Gojo looked amused — almost thrilled.
He pulled out his phone and began snapping pictures.
But as expected, the images came out distorted and blurred, the electromagnetic interference from the barrier scrambling everything electronic.
"Gojo-kun," Nino said, still clinging to his arm, "your photography skills are awful."
Gojo frowned, lowering his phone.
"This isn't about skill! It's the magnetic field. Even I can't defy physics that much."
"Ah, sure, sure,"
Nino replied softly, clearly unconvinced.
Gojo let out a sigh, half amused, half exasperated.
"You know, you're lucky you're cute, or I'd leave you here."
"You wouldn't dare!."
Her words trembled slightly, betraying her fear even as she tried to sound bold.
.....
Then, a new sound rippled through the air.
A low, guttural growl, like a starving beast crawling from the depths of hell.
The black mist that descended from the barrier thickened, swallowing the streets in darkness.
Gojo's teasing grin faded. His six eyes flickered — focusing, analyzing.
Something was moving in the fog.
"Let's not argue now," he said, voice calm but sharper. "And, Nino— try not to scream later."
"Wha—what do you mean later?!"
"You'll see."
From the darkness, faint shapes began to shuffle forward — distorted canines, their flesh rotting, bones jutting out from half-decayed skin. Dozens of them, crawling on broken limbs, surrounded by the stench of death.
They weren't ordinary beasts.
They were Ghouls — animated corpses twisted by Void Miasma.
"Someone's started the blood ritual already," Gojo muttered, eyes narrowing. "The summoning's begun."
Nino's entire body trembled. She gripped his sleeve tightly, her voice barely a whisper.
"Gojo-kun… they—they're monsters…"
"Yeah," he said casually, tilting his head. "And Ugly ones at that. "
All around them, the crowd began to panic.
"What the hell are those things!?"
"Stay back! Don't let them touch you!"
"Where are the police?! Someone, call for help—!"
But phones were useless. The barrier jammed all signals.
Even if someone could call, no help was getting through.
....
A man in a business suit pulled his wife close, his voice shaking.
"Don't worry… I'll protect you."
Nearby, a teenage boy muttered bitterly.
"Tokyo's supposed to be safe. Why the hell is this happening here…?"
Another voice answered darkly.
"Maybe the help's already here… and they can't get in."
The silence that followed was deafening.
Then came the roar.
A chilling, blood-freezing roar.
The ghouls charged forward, their eyes glowing faintly blue under the crimson mist.
There were dozens — maybe more. Each one big as a calf, their decayed skin bubbling like boiling tar.
"Ah—! Run! Run!"
"We're going to die!"
"They're everywhere!"
Screams filled the air. People ran in every direction, only to slam into invisible walls that crackled with red light. The barrier allowed no escape.
Just as one of the creatures lunged toward Nino, a faint hum resonated through the ground.
Then—
Bang!
The ghoul exploded midair, splattering rancid black flesh across the pavement.
One by one, every ghoul in the vicinity began to collapse inward, their bodies crushed by an invisible force.
Gojo raised his right hand, his eyes glowing faintly.
"Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue."
The collapsing pressure sucked the corpses together like magnets, compressing them into a grotesque mass before bursting them apart with a wet, echoing boom.
Silence followed.
Only Gojo's sigh broke it.
"Ugh. So gross. Even with Infinity, the smell still gets through psychologically."
Nino gagged and covered her nose, trying not to throw up.
"Couldn't you have done it cleaner?"
"I'm not a janitor," Gojo replied flatly, waving the air. "I'm a sorcerer."
.....
Then came another sound.
A heavy, distant rumble, mixed with the sound of buildings collapsing.
Gojo's expression sharpened.
"Ah. There's that aura again…"
Through the black mist, his Six Eyes pierced the veil — and there, in the distance, emerged a massive fox head, snarling, fangs dripping with cursed energy.
Its form was ethereal, bound by ritual sigils that glowed faintly blue.
"A Fox Spirit," Gojo murmured. "So… it's him."
There was only one person capable of summoning the Contracted Fox Demon in this way.
Aki Hayakawa.
"Guess the Chainsaw Division got pulled into this mess too."
.....
Meanwhile, outside the barrier…
A shockwave erupted.
A massive blue claw struck the scarlet dome, sending cracks rippling through it like shattered glass.
Each blow echoed like thunder.
The man leading the assault — with sharp eyes and robes adorned in ritual sigils — was none other than Seigen Amawaka, one of the most powerful Onmyoji of the Twin Star Exorcists world.
Blue spell energy radiated around him as he struck the barrier again, his voice steady yet filled with restrained frustration.
Behind him stood groups of Onmyoji and Exorcists — uneasy allies bound by circumstance.
The Onmyoji kept their composure, performing stabilizing seals.
The Exorcists, however, shifted awkwardly, their expressions heavy with guilt.
"Lord Seigen!" A young exorcist stepped forward — a boy with light blue eyes, glasses, and a neat coat marked with sigils. "How long will it take to breach the barrier? There are civilians trapped inside!"
He looked no older than sixteen, yet the authority in his voice was unmistakable.
He was Yukio Okumura, twin brother of Rin, the Son of Satan — and an Exorcist Knight from True Cross Academy.
Seigen's eyes flicked toward him briefly before returning to the barrier.
"I'm aware of the situation, boy. But this isn't a simple veil. It's reinforced by Void Energy — the same power used by high-level demons. And this…"
He pointed toward the sigils glowing along the barrier's edge.
"This structure wasn't built overnight. Someone planned this for months, maybe years."
His tone sharpened, eyes narrowing at the Exorcists behind Yukio.
"You were supposed to monitor demonic fluctuations in this district. How did you miss this?"
The Exorcists lowered their heads in shame.
Yukio clenched his fists.
"It's my responsibility. We underestimated the convergence energy around this area. The readings—"
"Excuses," Seigen interrupted coldly. "If those people die inside, no amount of data will justify your negligence."
His spiritual aura flared, shaking the ground.
The younger exorcists staggered back from the sheer pressure.
Even Benio Adashino, who stood a few paces away with Rokuro Enmadou, looked uneasy.
"Seigen-sama's really angry this time," Benio whispered. "And he's right. This isn't just a random demon incident. Someone's orchestrating this."
Rokuro clenched his fists, his usual easygoing grin gone.
"If there's even one person alive in there, we'll save them."
Seigen didn't turn back, but a faint smirk tugged at his lips.
"Then prepare yourselves, both of you. Once this barrier cracks, we're diving straight into hell."
He slammed his palm against the crimson wall again — cracks spreading wider, light bleeding through like veins of molten glass.
Inside, Gojo's head tilted upward, sensing the change in energy.
"Oh? Looks like the cavalry's here." He grinned. "Guess I should wrap things up before they steal my spotlight."
Nino blinked at him, confused.
"Gojo-kun… who's coming?"
"Friends," he said with a chuckle. "Loud, stubborn friends."
The barrier shuddered.
And then—
Crack.
The crimson sky fractured like shattered glass, and a blinding light poured in.
For a fleeting moment, hope returned to those trapped within.
But deep beneath the earth, something else stirred — something far worse than the ghouls, worse than the barrier.
A pulse of Void Energy, ancient and hungry, began to awaken.
Gojo's smile faded.
"...Ah. So that's what you were hiding."
His Six Eyes gleamed like ice.
"Things are about to get messy."
