Late Night,
Tokyo — The Deepest Official Underground Chamber,
Far beneath Tokyo, hidden below countless layers of reinforced barriers, spiritual formations, and government facilities, lay one of the most secret locations in the entire country.
A place known only to the highest-ranking officials of the government, the leaders of the Exorcist Agency, and a handful of people standing at the top of the world.
Silence filled the underground corridor even with so many people there, they were all waiting.
Only the crisp sound of footsteps echoed through the darkness, becoming louder as it reach them.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
The passage was illuminated solely by rows of ancient candles mounted on the walls.
The flickering flames cast long shadows that danced eerily along the stone floor.
Countless defensive spells had been carved into the surrounding walls, the candles were too enchanted with the sound-tracking spell and light-up spell that used the natural energy in the air.
The sheer number of multiple spells would make ordinary exorcists feel suffocated, feeling the different energy moving around them continuously.
Gojo Satoru walked through the corridor as casually as if he were taking a stroll through a shopping mall. His hands rested inside his pockets as he march towards the hidden room without any guide.
Clearly, this wasn't his first visit.
After walking for several dozen seconds, he arrived before a massive black gate.
Without even slowing down, he extended one hand, as blue light-like-glow began to appear on his skin.
Creaaakkk—! Creaaaak—!
The gate slowly opened with loud noise, disturbing the usual silent environment. The enormous doors parted to give a way.
As the brightly lit meeting chamber appeared before him.
The room was enormous, that look like it could fit One hundred peoples without any issue.
At the center stood a gigantic circular wooden table that took away 40% of the room space. And at the left side of the room was a big screen that was shut-off.
The gate closed behind his automatically.
More than a dozen elderly men sat around it in formal dress.
Several middle-aged officials were also present in between. It was clear that every person inside possessed significant authority.
Some represented the government while others represented the Exorcist Agency.
Together, they formed the highest decision-making body of modern Japan's supernatural world.
The atmosphere was solemn.
Yet the moment Gojo Satoru entered — That atmosphere was instantly shattered.
"It's almost midnight." Gojo yawned. Then he looked around the room through his blindfold, "What exactly is so important? That you dragged me all the way here when I should be sleeping. I have classes tomorrow, you know."
The corner of Prime Minister mouth twitched slightly. Out of everyone present, only Gojo Satoru would dare speak to them like this.
And the worst part?
Nobody could do anything about it.
The frustrated Prime Minister forced a smile as he said, representing everyone present,
"I'm sorry, Gojo-kun. Please sit down first."
"No." Gojo refused immediately.
His response came so fast that several officials nearly choked.
Kentaro Ishita sighed, clear about his position, "At least hear us out."
"Then speak quickly." Gojo leaned against the wall, "I don't have all night."
No one present was surprised in front of his indifferent attitude, it wasn't the first time he had ignored protocol.
Nor would it be the last.... Many higher-up sigh inwardly.
Prime Minister Kentaro exchanged a glance with one of the elderly officials who was place in the fourth seat from his seat.
The old man slowly adjusted his old fashion glasses that he wears. Before his fingers interlocked atop the table. Then he spoke in a formal but familiar tone.
"Gojo Satoru. What is your opinion regarding the current disaster situation?"
Gojo blinked. Then tilted his head.
"My opinion?"
He didn't think that they would asked about it before anything else.
"Yes." The old man nodded.
Gojo thought seriously for several seconds. Then answered.
"Nothing." He seriously didn't care enough to think too deeply about it. He had already made sure that others will be safe even in a situation where he could somehow not reach them.
"..."
Several officials immediately developed headaches in front of this indifferent monster.
Prime Minister Kentaro Ishita rubbed his forehead.
The old man chose to ignore his response as he continue without any awkwardness.
"Recently, the number of Kegare appearing throughout the country has increased dramatically. Their reproduction speed is abnormal."
{T/N: Demons invasion are mostly occur when a special rituals is performance or the gate to Gehenna is open. While, Devil invasion are done individually (mostly) with only one strong demon or one strong demon commanding a group of weak ones, they are strong too but many of the big shots hadn't attack yet — because of the existence of Demon and Kegare, the negative emotions / energy is shared and the population is a little lower than what it used too. While, Kegare could attack the real world at any moment so they are a considered to be a threat }
"An area may be completely purified today. But by tomorrow, another large-scale infestation appears."
The room air became serious again.
The old man continued in tired voice.
"The Twelve Guardians are already stretched thin. Many regional exorcist groups and official groups are also reaching their limits."
"We have analyzed all available data....And we believe that there is a mastermind behind these incidents."
A large map appeared on a nearby screen with numerous red markers covered it. Each marker represented a major Kegare outbreak.
The old man's voice grew heavier.
"We believe someone is intentionally gathering spiritual pollution. In preparation for a future catastrophe. A disaster on a scale beyond anything we've previously encountered."
The old man voice stop as suffocating silence filled the room.
The implications were obvious.
If such a disaster truly occurred —Thousands if not millions could die.
Perhaps even more.
Gojo narrowed his eyes slightly. Then asked calmly,
"So? What exactly are you trying to say?" Gojo crossed his arms. "You called me here for a reason. Get to the point."
The old man nodded firmly. Then finally revealed the proposal.
"We wish to organize multiple long-range investigation teams, expedition teams. They will travel deep into the most dangerous disaster zones. We will assign exorcists and anti-demon specialists." The old man said 'Somehow' inwardly,
"And intelligence personnel. Our objective is to discover the source of the abnormalities."
Everyone tensed up as they waited for Gojo's response.
Several seconds passed.
Then—Gojo laughed.
Not because he found the situation funny but because he found it ridiculous!
"Expedition teams?" His smile slowly disappeared. You really know how to make things sound pretty."
The room grew tense.
Gojo's voice became colder. "Call it what it is — A suicide squad."
Several officials frowned.
One of the middle-aged men immediately slammed his hand against the table.
Bang!
"Gojo Satoru! This operation exists for the sake of humanity!" His voice echoed throughout the room. "If sacrifices must be made to save the country, then those sacrifices are necessary!"
"Even if they die, they die for humanity!"
The atmosphere instantly became explosive.
Gojo slowly turned toward him.
The room's temperature seemed to drop, the middle-aged official felt a chill crawl down his spine because the blindfold was hiding his eyes, he couldn't even began to read him!
But efore Gojo could speak — The elderly chairman frowned.
"Aoba. Sit down."
"But—"
"Sit." The old man's voice contained undeniable authority.
Interrupted, Aoba gritted his teeth. Reluctantly he sat down.
Gojo chuckled.
The sound made several people feel uncomfortable in his presence.
Then he spoke.
"So you want my opinion?" He turned to the old man that was speaking, "Fine."
"My opinion is simple. If those teams encounter the people controlling these disasters...They die. Every single one of them."
His words carried absolute certainty.
Because unlike everyone present — Gojo had personally fought monsters from the deepest corners of existence.
Creatures that could wipe out entire cities and countries.
He knew exactly how dangerous the current situation truly was, and that is why he was thinking about giving the head-up to others. The reason behind it is simple they would have to become stronger.
The old man sighed. "I expected that answer. You disagree with us."
"Obviously." Gojo shrugged.
The old man closed his eyes. Then nodded.
"Understood."
The discussion should have ended there as Gojo turned around.
Ready to leave.
"Then perhaps you can explain another matter."
However — Another elderly voice suddenly echoed through the chamber.
Gojo stopped, slowly turning his head.
The speaker was an extremely thin old man wearing a traditional kimono. His eyes were sharp. Cold. Calculating.
"The Eighth Prince of the Gehenna and about Rin Okumura."
The atmosphere instantly changed. Several officials became nervous. Others quietly observed from the side, clearly not wanting to be the collaterial damage.
The old man continued. "You killed the Eighth Prince, did you not. The Satanic faction is furious. Our prophets predict that powerful Demons will soon begin appearing in reality at an unprecedented rate."
His gaze sharpened.
"Do you have anything to say regarding that?"
Gojo scratched his hair, looking completely unbothered.
"Not really." Gojo continued casually. "That brat was planning a ritual sacrifice involving tens of thousands of civilians. He was too blood thirsty, so I killed him."
"And Rin Okumura?" The old man pressed.
Gojo shrugged. "I let him become an exorcist."
The old man's expression darkened.
"You could have captured the Eighth Prince alive."
"I could have. But I don't want to."
"..."
The room froze.
Then Gojo smiled.
"The moment someone starts talking about sacrificing innocent people...They lose their right to mercy."
Several people unconsciously looked away, not wanting to look at him any longer.
But, the old man in question wasn't finished.
"Because of the Eighth Prince's death, demonic activity is increasing."
"So?" The answer came instantly.
Gojo's expression became mocking.
"You keep saying that as if I should care. The extra demons aren't coming after you people. They're attacking civilians. While all of you sit here discussing strategy."
The room grew colder.
The old man's face darkened, he finally lost patience.
"Gojo Satoru! Satan wants his son back. If you continue interfering—"
"Oi..." Gojo suddenly stopped smiling.
Swooosh!
"..!!"
The entire room fell silent. As an indescribable pressure filled the chamber.
Gojo had lifted the Viel, just a little as his cursed energy that was suppressed and hidden inside had finally found a place to escape.
His icy blue eyes swept across everyone present, from behind the blindfold, giving the people's inside unexplainable dread.
One by one.
The pressure became overwhelming. Even experienced officials who were used to meeting strong peoples felt sweat forming in their temples and back.
"I'm on Rin Okumura's side."
Every word echoed throughout the chamber.
No one dared spoke or even breathe.
"If Satan comes. I'll stop him. If demons come, I'll kill them. And If you people decide to target Rin..."
His voice dropped lower and lower.
Until it became a whisper that was louder than anything in this suffocating room.
"I'll kill you first."
Several officials nearly jumped from their chairs, in scared.
Without another word — Gojo turned around, he was really losing his good mood because of them.
The massive doors opened again.
And he walked away.
Leaving behind a room full of people who were breathing for air desperately.
