But would Durandal actually use the term "enforcement"?
After all, the conflicts brought by enforcement seemed completely contrary to the original intention of implementing the Destiny Plan.
Observing Wang Hu across from him and the expression on his face, Durandal fell silent for a moment.
"Enforcement."
This earth-shattering response caused Wang Hu to reveal a subtle smile.
"The future of humanity concerns the entire human collective. The dream of reforming the future isn't like hosting a dinner party."
"When the torrent of history surges forward, there will always be those who fail to see the tide of history and choose to go against it."
"For the sake of the human collective, the minority must submit to the majority."
This was Durandal being Durandal - though his words were steeped in bloody implications, he delivered them with the tragic grandeur of Homeric epics.
"The minority submits to the majority."
This particular phrase was filled with Eastern humanistic philosophy.
Indeed, for the greater good, Eastern Asians would more readily understand such sacrifices.
But would Wang Hu so easily accept this clever sophistry?
Obviously not.
"Adults accept their assigned roles, but what about children?"
"For example, could this happen: a newborn child, before the Destiny Plan's implementation, had limitless possibilities."
"But after the Destiny Plan takes effect, according to genetic mapping, they're deemed most suitable to become street cleaners."
"Then, to prepare them for this work as soon as they come of age, we would establish specialized schools."
"These schools would gather all those with similar career paths. Subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry, music, sports, and comprehensive education wouldn't be taught."
"They would only need to learn one thing in school - sweeping, continuously sweeping the streets."
Wang Hu posed another, even sharper question, drawing from communication studies about categories that evoke human empathy.
Categorized by men, women, elderly, boys, and girls.
The more it involves human offspring, the stronger the empathetic response tends to be.
Adults may not care much about their own situations, but once it concerns their next generation,
their attitudes change dramatically, even to the point of sacrificing everything.
Faced with this question, even the usually eloquent Durandal fell silent.
This was a more fatal question than the previous one, and very difficult to argue against sophistically.
Would such schools be established?
The answer was obviously yes.
As Wang Hu had questioned, if someone's future was predetermined to be street sweeping, then from an educational cost perspective,
beyond basic education, investing more educational resources would be wasteful.
After all, when the future is already predetermined, why entertain other aspirations?
Silence. Durandal fell into an even longer silence.
As an excellent strategist, he keenly realized that even if he spoke dishonestly against his conscience,
Wang Hu before him would relentlessly attack the fatal flaws of the Destiny Plan.
But as Durandal remained silent, it was now Wang Hu's turn to deliver a lengthy discourse.
"Once the Destiny Plan is implemented and becomes established policy for all of humanity, the human government at that time will undoubtedly be an extremely rigid authoritarian regime."
"By monopolizing the complete genetic database of humankind, human destiny will be strictly controlled. Every individual will become an insignificant cog in a massive machine."
"The factors influencing your career path will no longer depend on human effort alone."
"Beyond your genetic makeup, personal hereditary diseases and personality traits will also become crucial reference points."
"So what would happen then? Suppose your genes indicate you're particularly suited to become an athlete."
"But you also carry certain disease genes that would shorten your career span. In today's society, you could rely on your talent and hard work."
"You could become an athlete, even achieve notable results, until later discovering your physical issues and reluctantly choosing early retirement."
"At least you would have experienced glory and fulfilled your dreams. However, according to the Destiny Plan's arrangements,"
"You would never become an athlete, because even someone with less potential than you but with a more stable career trajectory"
"Would be the Destiny Plan's preferred candidate. You'd better honestly go tighten screws."
"You refuse to accept defeat? You want to train hard during breaks from screw-tightening and compete in tournaments?"
"Sorry, but according to the Destiny Plan's arrangements, you can only tighten screws. You're not an athlete."
"You wouldn't even be able to set foot on the competition field."
Raising one finger while facing Durandal's smile, Wang Hu then raised a second finger.
"Under the Destiny Plan, all personal will and effort would become meaningless."
"I've already provided one example - meaning under the Destiny Plan,"
"Humans would become tools for providing stable productivity to society. This would become our only purpose for existence."
"Now take me - my main profession is soldier, but my side job might be writing novels online."
"Genetically speaking, I possess absolutely no talent for writing fiction."But with some luck, my simple writing might just resonate with some readers and gain recognition."
"Can the Destiny Plan predict this?"
"In the society you envision, such occurrences probably would never happen, right?"
"The logic remains the same - because genetically more suitable people would handle it, my novels would never be seen."
"Superficially, such a world appears to make everyone satisfied with their work, but actually I believe it would create more dissatisfaction."
"In our nation's long history, there was once someone who implemented a plan similar to yours."
"That emperor divided all citizens into farmer households, artisan households, military households, merchant households, etc."
"Initially it seemed wonderful, but after that emperor passed away,"
"This system quickly faced resistance and covert disobedience - and this was despite that emperor not completely blocking upward mobility between classes."
"I understand." Nodding, Durandal appeared convinced by Wang Hu's arguments.
"This is indeed something I hadn't considered, but it's precisely because the Destiny Plan isn't perfect yet that such contradictions arise."
"However, I believe it's exactly because of its imperfections that we need more intelligent people to join."
"Through our efforts, this plan will eventually gain everyone's approval."
"In fact, the currently imperfect plan has already gained some recognition and is being implemented in the real world."
"As for its effectiveness, the results speak for themselves."
"Kirin Wang Hu, you are a talented individual who has identified flaws in the Destiny Plan."
"And precisely because you've spotted these flaws, you would be the one capable of changing and perfecting the plan when implementing it."
Here, Durandal was attempting to employ a logical trick.
Just like Wang Hu, who appeared supportive on the surface while raising sharp questions to fundamentally refute Durandal's Destiny Plan.
Durandal likewise first acknowledged Wang Hu, then proposed that Wang Hu should be the one to implement the plan.
This made Wang Hu subconsciously position himself as the executor, thinking about how to solve problems rather than rejecting the plan outright.
"Talented individual, huh?"
Wang Hu laughed heartily, his unrestrained laughter echoing before Durandal's solemn expression.
"Let me ask the most fundamental question: 15 billion Naturals versus 6 million Coordinators."
"Who holds the advantage in genetic mapping?"
After Wang Hu posed this question, Durandal seemed somewhat unsettled.
The Destiny Plan, which appeared to depict fairness on the surface, had its deepest hidden injustice directly exposed by Wang Hu.
"15 billion unmodified Naturals, filtered at a one percent ratio - this should align with the concept of elite talent in the Destiny Plan."
"Then the remaining people would essentially become lower-class citizens, right? Although we say all occupations are equal and we're equal in human dignity."
"But how many people can truly practice this?"
"Consider this: when 6 million Coordinators and that top one percent of elite Naturals occupy all the good positions, what happens to everyone else who's filtered out?"
"The new caste system under the Destiny Plan would ultimately make them untouchables."
"Aside from vested interests, many supporters of the Destiny Plan believe they're unrecognized pearls hidden in the world."
"They think that given just one opportunity, they would soar to great heights."
"While I acknowledge that today's society indeed has many such overlooked talents, after the Destiny Plan's implementation..."
"Can these 'hidden pearls' be certain they're truly pearls? Not to mention Coordinators inherently hold the advantage."
"What can these supposed pearls use to compete and compare with them?"
"So what would be the final outcome?"
Facing Durandal's stony expression, Wang Hu spread his hands.
"Wouldn't it be simpler to just genetically modify specifically for the Destiny Plan?"
"Who can guarantee that the first generation of leaders under the Destiny Plan wouldn't have selfish motives?"
"To ensure their descendants remain in high positions forever..."
"You see, achieving this becomes much easier than it is now."
"The Destiny Plan is fair!"
Durandal's expression finally shifted. Wang Hu had repeatedly refuted his points with substantial arguments, making it impossible for him to maintain his composed demeanor.
"Don't rush. Would you like me to phrase it more bluntly?"
Wang Hu raised a hand to cut off Durandal's attempt to explain. If not for maintaining a harmonious atmosphere, he would have cursed outright by the end of his speech. Such a plan, laden with selfish motives—how could Durandal have conceived it? Given his intelligence, it seemed uncharacteristic.
Or perhaps Wang Hu had misjudged him, overestimating Durandal's integrity.
After all, this man had known about Creuset's desire to destroy the world yet didn't intervene directly, merely standing by as an observer.
"The Compulsory Marriage Law. Without this legislation, would she have become your wife?"
Tapping the photo frame, Wang Hu then pushed it over within Durandal's line of sight.
It was like the final straw that broke the camel's back. Wang Hu had expected to see Durandal fly into a rage, but instead, the other man's eyes merely reddened. After a few deep breaths, Durandal calmed down again.
Just as the composed Durandal was about to speak, a sudden phone ringtone interrupted.
"Go ahead," Wang Hu gestured with a lift of his hand.
"Hello, this is Durandal."
Seeing this, Durandal answered the call.
"Mr. Durandal, is Wang Hu with you?!"
