When it came to her freedom, Danielle did not choose to study politics anymore.
That surprised everyone…
For weeks after the fall, letters arrived daily. Invitations from universities. Offers from councils. Requests to speak, to teach, to lead. People wanted her voice, her name, her presence in rooms where decisions were made.
She read every letter.
Then she placed them back into their envelopes and set them aside.
One evening, she sat across from Theo at the small kitchen table of their temporary apartment. The city outside was loud, but the room felt calm like she was back into her university, staying at Theo's apartment once again…the very first night they actually spent together.
"I am not going to study politics," Danielle spoke suddenly.
Theo looked up from his cup. "I know."
She blinked way too many times. "You do?"
He nodded. "You were never meant to live in arguments. To be fair, bunny, you can't handle them."
