Chapter 8 - chapter 9- world at midnight (rewritten)

Welter woke up in the middle of the night. He stood up and looked around, seeing his units sleeping. Feodor and Le were sleeping next to each other, but Feodor looked like he had been asleep for a lot longer than Le.

System: Generated world is ready.

Welter glanced at the system screen, walked into the front of the store, and sat on the counter. Then, he pulled up his system and paused to think. After a bit of thought, he clicked the worlds tab.

"I got a lot of points in the Warhammer 40k Krieg spawn, so I'll do that one again," he murmured.

Welter clicked the Warhammer 40k Krieg spawn. Immediately, he found himself standing alongside at least 200 Kriegsmen inside a troop transport shuttle. He inspected his gear and realized he was a grenadier equipped with both a Meltagun and a Hellgun. He figured he must be a veteran grenadier to be given two guns.

As he was thinking, the shuttle landed and the massive door dropped. All the Kriegsmen poured out. When Welter stepped outside, he saw the Nurgle fortress they were assigned to take. He stepped into formation with some grenadiers from his shuttle. More shuttles began to land, and more Kriegsmen poured out to fill the ranks.

The Commissar stepped out of the trench and pointed toward the Nurgle fortress. "You will all attack that fortress after the Earthshakers blow a hole in the gate. Sadly, the fortress is surrounded by acid, so the bridge is our only option. You will have armored support until you breach the fortress."

The Commissar stepped back into the trench. The Kriegsmen filled the lines, completely ready to charge. The Commissar blew his whistle, and the Kriegsmen went over the top. Surprisingly, they weren't shot at from the fortress, so they conserved their energy by jogging toward the objective. The approach took a few minutes.

The Kriegsmen stood at the bridge, still under no defensive fire. Then, the Earthshakers shelled the fortress. One round slammed directly into the plague gate, blowing a massive hole in it. The Kriegsmen flooded toward the opening. However, as the first Kriegsmen entered the fortress, heavy stubber rounds tore them apart. The line halted, not dumb enough to die a meaningless death.

Welter stepped up. "Who has a plasma gun?"

A Kriegsman stepped forward. "I've got one. I'll make it count."

The Kriegsman peered over the opening, spotting exactly where the heavy stubber was emplaced. He aimed, overcharged his weapon, and fired—an action that would make a certain faction of tech-lovers very mad.

It was a direct hit. With the threat neutralized, the Kriegsmen charged into the opening. They made it to the end of the hallway. But as a squad turned the corner, a Plague Marine slammed its fist into the first Kriegsman's head, killing him instantly. The second met a quick end right after, blown apart when the Plague Marine fired its bolter.

Welter charged forward, grabbing his Meltagun. He ducked under a swing of the Plague Marine's fist, which cracked the stone wall instead. Welter pressed the Meltagun flat against the Plague Marine's armor and pulled the trigger. It instantly melted a hole clean through the giant's side. The Plague Marine dropped, now missing a section of its spine, but it was still squirming on the floor. Welter had a solution for that. He shot it again, this time aiming for the head, and it finally stopped moving.

The Kriegsmen looked at him in absolute awe. He had taken down a Plague Marine all by himself—a foe equal in strength to an Astartes.

Welter slung the Meltagun back onto his back and grabbed his Hellgun. Feeling like he needed a break, he decided to exit the world.

System: 50 points rewarded for killing one Plague Marine.

Welter's eyes widened. "50 for one kill? Wow."

Welter walked back to the rear of the store, laid down, and fell fast asleep.
