HARPER
I shut my eyes, pretending to sleep as the door went wide open. Dominic was here. Surely, he wouldn't let me go easily.
Ignoring him by saying nothing would make the situation better. I thought he'd forget and let me be. But damn it. This was Dominic. I'd forgotten he never let things that worried him out of his thoughts.
Maybe I shouldn't blame him for wanting answers. I was the one who'd arrived ten hours later. I was the one lying to his face. I hoped Clara had done the same for me because I wanted to believe he put a call through to her.
My breath hitched, hearing his footsteps closing in. Biting inside of my cheek, I allowed my face to relax in the best way possible, and make sure to breathe out normally, but—
"I know you're not sleeping."
Oh well, shit.
But that didn't mean I was going to prove him right. My eyes remained closed.
"We need to talk." He said.
Silence.
"This is important, Harper."
Again, nothing.
