HARPER
My heart pounded in my chest, my ears roaring as the silence grew even louder. I heard the door creak open as Clara stepped into the bathroom, but I didn't turn to look at her.
The test in my hands was far more important, heavier, than anything I've ever held in my life.
I stared at it for a long time, the word pregnant printed on it staring back at me.
Now, everything made a lot more sense. The sudden cravings, the nausea, and yes, I hadn't had my period in a long time. But how?
"You are pregnant, Harper," Clara said.
Pregnant.
I frowned at her, my mouth opening to reply, but no words came out. I was still stunned by the sudden turn of events.
It was impossible. Dominic was infertile. He had told me he was. How the hell was I pregnant if he couldn't bear any children?
Or could it be…?
