Chapter 2 - 2: When a Low-Level Bastard Goes Godmode

Swinging another strike, he stepped back and stumbled to the ground as another attacker came from behind.

Kalis tried not to fall or get hit by the others. The skills he learned from martial arts class were finally being put to use. He just didn't expect he'd have to show them this way.

"Host, I'm the SSS-Class Sword System. I'll be at your service!"

Again, that voice, the artificial voice. Whoever it was, can't you see that the introduction is not really good at this point?

"Host, please sign in to open the system's user interface!"

The jolly and excited tone was evident, and obviously not from someone else in this room, where everyone was busy either killing him or crying right there.

Kalis wanted to ignore that mechanical voice, yet it seemed to be talking to him precisely as it kept urging him to sign in, sign in, sign in!

It was basically annoying to his painful ears.

When he fell to the floor on his knees, he asked about it in his internal thoughts as realization hit him.

Kalis was the only one who could hear it inside his head.

Unsure whether he was going crazy or if there really was a voice in his head, there was no turning back. He would not die from just asking within his mind.

"Who are you? What's the use of you talking to my head?" One, two, three seconds passed with no words as he had expected, only for him to be surprised that the artificial voice was indeed talking to him.

"Host! I'm the SSS-Class Sword System! I am the manager of world-class SSS Swords in the Universe of Three Thousand Worlds."

"Then, do you think you can help me!? I am losing my strength now...."

If he did not persist, he would die here, and the female he was trying to save would not be saved at all.

"Host! Of course, please sign in to use your first-timer rewards!"

What. The. Fuck. Is that.

He clearly had no time for such a ridiculous sign-in and rewards system.

"Tell me now, how do I sign in?" Kalis had no idea why he was believing this voice in his head.

But if there were a chance to live against these men who were trying to kill him, he would jump on this system's unbelievable talking.

"Just say sign in, Host!"

Fuck. Who cares.

"Sign-In!" Under grinding teeth, Kalis took another sharp breath as he tried to punch another man's face and dodged another coming at him.

"Host Sign-In Successful! Host can now access the SSS-Class Swords Treasury. Please get one of the available swords in your inventory for your disposal!"

"Whatever it is! Give it to me!" Kalis growled, grinding his teeth. He didn't care what kind of witchcraft this system was.

He would take his chances no matter how absurd.

"Checking Host Inventory.... Zero Found."

Kalis wanted to facepalm upon hearing that, yet his expression was busy wincing in pain while he fought. So, he decided it was better to ignore the system, since it was rendered useless.

"Host, you may use the Sword Rookie Draw Reward?" The system chimed in between the clashing of weapons.

Kalis wanted to curse the heavens so much at this time, as he was really almost at his body's limit.

"Do you think I have the time to draw! Just give it to me!" Kalis roared inside his mind, every nerve screaming as he fought off the attackers and tried to keep standing.

"Host is now drawing Sword Rookie Card Draw!" With that notification from the system, music rang over his head like a song he sometimes heard in the streets.

"'I'm a Barbie girl in the Barbie world… life is plastic… It's fantastic…."

Kalis: "...."

"Come on, Barbie, let's go party!"

Kalis clenched his teeth, his body aching, fists still fighting, and thought about how this system was so unserious.

What the hell is this? I'm dying here, and it's playing that song his secretary likes.

"Congratulations, Host!"

"High-End SSS-Class Sword Kampilan has now been drawn!"

"Kampilan Sword is now Awakened! Please unsheathe your sword, Host!"

Kalis heard that affirmation, followed the system's instructions, and unsheathed the sword in his hand.

He didn't know what had happened or the sorcery behind it, but the sword suddenly bore a flowing mark, like intricate, rune-like lines etched across its blade.

Its appearance hadn't changed, yet it had a glint that set it apart from an ordinary sword.

His hand holding it felt the shift of energy entering his body.

The pain slowly faded, and his strength, as well as his sense of safety, grew much stronger than before.

He had decided to use it without thinking too much and would check on it later once all these men were dealt with.

Guess what happened was far beyond his expectations.

The men who stepped into the blade's swing were sliced in multiple places, and one of them even got a slight cut on his ear.

In that moment, the air in the small room became tense, and everyone stepped back.

They could feel that something was wrong with Kalis, rather than the sword he was holding right now.

The Boss who saw the swing was very angry.

How could this low-level bastard have so much mental power when swinging a rusty sword!

The red-haired Boss grabbed the only advanced gun nearby.

He stood next to the bed, naked, with two layers of belly fat, a Conocybe apala-shaped thing swaying between his thighs as he moved.

He raised the gun and fired it toward the bastard who was interrupting his time with a beautiful woman.

Kalis sensed the bullet leaving the barrel and swiftly dodged it.

Seeing him get away with it so easily only made the Boss of the gang even more furious.

Another shot rang out, then another, the bullets whizzing through the air like angry hornets.

Kalis swung the sword in his hand, and each bullet that struck it seemed to compress and flatten against the blade.

This alarmed the red-haired Boss, and anxiety crept across his face.

He was about to call for help from his men when he realized they were all on the floor, either with sliced body parts or groaning in pain, and some were not moving at all.

Oh. This was bad.

Kalis walked forward, eyes cold, and his next action was set.
