Ben, finally looking like he might actually earn his paycheck as a kidnapper, grabbed the length of coarse rope they'd so thoughtfully prepared before.
With a grunt of effort, he yanked the burlap sack the rest of the way off Everly's body and, in a fit of pique, flung it towards the front seat. The heavy, damp fabric sailed through the air and landed with a sickening THWACK squarely on the head of the man in the passenger seat.
"Ow! Ben, you son of a—!" the man yelped, rubbing his skull.
Ben ignored him, his focus now entirely on his task. With a speed and efficiency that was frankly surprising given his earlier incompetence, he looped the rope around her wrists, pulling the knots tight with a series of sharp, efficient tugs. He moved to her ankles, his brow furrowed in concentration, a man finally in his element.
However, in his professional haste, his fingers brushed against Everly's hand.
