As I read the scroll, my heart swelled with dark anticipation.
Finally.
I had it in my hands—the key that would allow me to kill Asriel and claim everything I wanted.
I skimmed past the endless ceremonial language, the useless praises and ancient ramblings. They were wasting my time.
I went straight to what mattered.
The only way to kill an Archangel.
"To kill one who stands next to God—one honored, blessed, and divine—
you must remove that which makes them so."
My breath stilled.
"Strip them of their glory.
Sever their essence."
Silence filled the room.
Then my lips curled into a slow, wicked smile.
"So that's it," I murmured.
"To kill an Archangel…"
A soft laugh escaped me, low and dangerous.
"You remove their essence."
"You say it like it's easy," Lila chimed in.
She crossed her arms, unimpressed.
"He's an Archangel. Archangels are the hardest beings to kill."
She scoffed softly.
