The moon was reaching the zenith in the sky. The night was enshrouding the town of Kuoh like a soft blanket, hiding what is to come. The day is for humanity and the Normal. The night, the moonlit night, is the time for the extraordinary. In the park, a groupe of devils gather under the moonlight to enact a sweet justice on parasites that live on their land.
"Where are they?" asked Rias as she tapped her foot impatiently. She was waiting for the two mages, Shinji and Sakura, the latter being somewhat afraid of. 'I just cant get the feeling figured out, but I should be a little wary' she thought as the aforementioned mages began to arrive, decked out in clothes that seemed to reek of potent magical power.
Decked out in mystic codes that exuded a thick magical energy, Rias was wondering how she might make it work in her plan if it required stealth. She didnt doubt there was a way for them to detect magical energy. "Are you guys able to tone down the energy signatures?" asked Koneko as the energy disappeared entirely.
"Its gone, where did it go?" asked Koneko. Sakura scowled at what she perceived as a breach of mage etiquette, but Shinji offered to explain. "Come on Sakura, this isn't like the place we came from. To answer your question, we are storing the excess energy in a storage space which we can later call upon for different uses, like emergency fuel."
The explanation was simple in a way, and yet the idea wasn't well known. The most common method for concealing magical energy was suppressing it through various methods like meditation, forcing the magical energy to exist beneath the skin, and even using false sensors to trick the threshold for security barriers.
"You'll have to teach me that later" said Akeno with a sultry smile. "If we have time" Shinji smiled as Rias coughed into her hand to get the attention on her. "Okay, the plan is for me, Akeno, Shinji, and Sakura to take the back, and you guys will take the front. Asia is safe for now in a magical barrier in a safe place, so we don't have to worry about innocents there" said Rias as she conjured a map out of nowhere. "In preperation for what may be perceived threats, I had a map made in advance" Rias laid the map out as she explained.
"The main sanctum of the church is here, but where they might be more concentrated is below the altar. Often done to deface sacred ground for dark rituals in what is 'revenge' against what they perceive as betrayal. However, since we have Asia in a safe place, this might not be the case so be on the look out."
She split the group into two teams, one to take the back of the building and one to go through the front. "Issei, I know you don't have a lot of power, so I think you might be able to use this" said Shinji as he handed him what looked like a metal wand with a handle and a twisted top. Engraved on the handles base was symbols, and it was imbued with a sort of elemental energy. "Thanks" said Issei profusely as Rias smiled.
"Remember Issei, sacred gears evolve base on feeling, so there's no telling how yours might evolve" added rias as a last minute tidbit before each headed to their separate goals of invasion.
Shinji and Sakura walked with Rias nonchalantly, and without a hint of worry. Rias was amazed humans could show no fear towards the extraordinary, especially since she had some worry herself due to only having so much knowledge. "How are you guys not worried?" asked Akeno, seemingly voicing the thoughts of her president.
"Well, besides the fact I have faith in our gear, I picked up some good spells recently to bolster my arsenal" explained Shinji as he pointed out to the mystic codes he crafted with various defensive spells, healing spells, and even using what he knew of demonic power and its applications to modify some spells for new purposes.
"What spells?" asked Rias as Shinji smiled and said, "you'll see." "Fine, keep your secrets" Rias said with a smile. Shinji almost laughed but was able to control himself. "Well, do we know anything about our attackers, besides a few attacks like exploding feathers or light manipulation?" asked Shinji as Rias looked at them. "Besides the basic abilities granted to all angels, most of it is personalized versions of their powers. However, considering we don't know much about the fallen angels here, its more of a mystery but always assuming they have some magic is a must."
"That's fair, but their is a sort of baseline we can account for, nice" muttered Shinji as he fingered the various objects he had on him. A knife, a few rings, a wand, his mystic garments, and even a few other bobbles that didnt really serve a purpose besides honoring his own curiosity.
As they neared the back end of the church, the magic in the air got thicker due to the concentration of supernatural beings in the vicinity. "Man, this way more potent than some mages at home" said Sakura outloud, and it made Rias very curious about their worlds and planned to explore it later.
"Halt Heathens!" said a girl who descended from the air with her black, feathery wings. Bold hair in pig tails, blue eyes, and a gothic lolita dress. Behind her came a mature woman with navy blue hair, brown eyes, and a maroon trenchcoat like attire with a matching mini skirt and black shoes. Then came a scruffy man with a fedora hat, short black hair, dark blue eyes, and a grey trench coat.
"Man what great hosts you are, you even came to greet us" snickered Akeno as the fallen angel with the fedora twitched a little. "Will you introduce yourselves, for I wish to know the name of the prey I aim to slaughter."
