"Whew!"
Lex suddenly woke up from his dream.
He looked up at the familiar ceiling for a long time, then wiped the sweat from his forehead.
He had dreamed of his mother again.
In the dream, the feeling of being embraced by his mother, of being completely surrounded by happiness, still echoed in his mind.
"Was it just a dream again?"
Lex got out of bed, walked to the wine cabinet, poured himself a glass of water, and began to gulp it down.
The person Lex dreamed of this time was not his biological mother, but his stepmother.
His stepmother had passed away from cancer a few years ago, which was another unbearable blow for him.
Although she was his stepmother, her love for him had not diminished because of their lack of blood relation.
Within the entire Luther Family, Lex only felt calculation and conspiracy.
Only his two mothers had ever brought him a little warmth.
With a solemn look in his eyes, Lex put down the glass and walked to the window, gazing at the night outside.
His phone suddenly rang.
After taking out his phone and speaking a few words to the person on the other end, Lex hung up and walked to the wardrobe to pick up his clothes, preparing to leave the manor.
Bang!
A muffled sound came from the room door.
Lex was startled by the sudden sound and immediately retreated.
He picked up his phone to dial, but found that the signal had been blocked!
Taking a deep breath, Lex immediately hurried to the room's drawer and took out a pistol for self-defense.
Bang!
This time, the door seemed to be twisted open from the outside!
Lex let out a long breath and aimed the pistol at the door.
With a loud bang, the room door was pushed open.
Several women from the Eric Kent Fan Club stood outside Lex's room, surveyed the room's layout, and quickly walked in.
Among those who participated in the kidnapping and assassination of Lex, besides the Fan Club members, there was also Betty, who was possessed by a "soul."
Betty had now officially joined the Eric Kent Fan Club and had gained the trust of all its members.
Although Hanna and the others had a fervent adoration for Eric, they had no combat abilities whatsoever, fortunately, Betty made up for this.
Lock picking and signal jamming, these tasks were all completed by Betty alone.
"Lex Luthor is not here!"
Hanna, fully armed and wearing a Batman mask, whispered to the others.
"He must still be here, he hasn't gone far!"
Betty walked to the wine cabinet, looked at the water droplets splashed on it, and said with a frown.
"Then what do we do? Continue to pursue him?"
Although Hanna had gathered a group of girls to assassinate a billionaire, she was not a vicious person and quickly had second thoughts.
"We cannot retreat!"
The girl with the Owl mask, her eyes flashing with sharp light, said sternly, "If we cannot help Eric, then we lose our reason for existence!"
The person wearing the Owl mask was Gayle, a middle-class girl from California who was studying in Metropolis.
Compared to the name "Gayle," she preferred her classmates to call her "Kogeta," a female investigator who frequently appeared in Eric's cthulhu works.
"No need to rush!"
Betty, with a cold face, walked to a portable safe placed on a round table, took out a dagger from her Pregnant, and directly cut the lock.
Opening the small safe, a laptop appeared inside.
Betty put away the dagger and opened the laptop.
A video appeared on the screen.
Hanna and the others immediately came over to watch.
The video playing on the laptop seemed to be a DV recording.
The woman in the center of the screen stood on a desolate grassland and asked the camera, "Can you confirm I'm in the center of the frame now?"
After receiving confirmation from the DV videographer, the woman nodded and said,
"Good, then I'll begin! I'm greeting everyone from Patagonia, this is the most beautiful place in the world, etc. Wait, what's that?"
The woman in the video seemed to have seen something that greatly shocked her, and her face showed an expression of fear.
"Is there? I didn't see anything."
The photographer turned the camera and said to the woman.
But the next second, a rapidly running dark figure burst into the DV camera's frame.
Like a beast, it instantly rushed in front of the photographer.
"Oh, my God!"
The photographer only let out a terrified scream before being tackled by the dark figure.
Bang!
Along with the photographer falling, so did the DV camera.
The DC lens was aimed directly at the woman, fully recording how she was torn to shreds by these "terrifying" beings.
After watching the bloody scene, the faces of the women from the Fan Club turned pale.
Hanna covered her mouth, almost throwing up.
Only the most fanatical Kogeta's eyes gleamed.
"I know, these beings are the monsters from Eric's cthulhu!"
Betty, on the other hand, watched the video calmly throughout, ignoring Kogeta's remarks.
She continued to browse the information on the laptop and found a map of an underground building.
The words "Ares Project" were written at the top of the blueprint, and the middle was entirely a labyrinth-like topographical map.
With a thoughtful glint in her eyes, Betty closed the laptop.
Hanna, having recovered from the disgusting video, asked Betty, "What is this?"
"I don't know, but this Lex Luthor is a man with many secrets."
The soul possessing Betty's body said, "And he's a guy not bound by any morals!"
"You're right, but you will never be able to glimpse this secret!"
Lex's voice suddenly came from behind.
The women turned around in surprise, finding Lex standing behind them at some point, holding a pistol aimed at them.
"Who are you? Why did you enter my manor?"
Seeing Lex standing behind them with a gun, Hanna and the other women were immediately scared and dared not move.
"We are from the Eric Kent Fan Club, and as for our purpose here, it is naturally to avenge Jonathan Kent!"
Betty sneered and walked towards Lex.
"Mr. Kent's Death has nothing to do with me."
Lex aimed his pistol at Betty, "If you take another step forward, I will shoot you! Don't gamble with your ignorance and recklessness."
"Is that so?"
A cold sneer appeared on Betty's lips, and she raised her head, suddenly reaching forward.
She instantly appeared in front of Lex, grabbing him by the neck.
"My husband used to work for your company, but he's been missing for months, and Luthor Company has never given a direct answer. What exactly have you done?"
"Who...who is your husband?"
Choked, Lex struggled to ask Betty.
"Wes Dufl!"
"I...I remember that name! A US Special Forces officer, he worked for us, but four months ago, his helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan!"
"No! On the day you mentioned, there was no plane crash whatsoever."
The soul occupying Betty's body, presumably Wes's wife, glared at the culprit, Lex, and said fiercely, "My intuition is very accurate. If you love someone, you will feel their loss, but I haven't yet."
Hanna and the others, who were watching, were shocked by Betty's incredible speed, and then hearing her mention a husband, they all froze.
Isn't Betty a freshman?
What's with the US Special Forces husband?!
"A woman's intuition can sometimes be inaccurate!"
Lex felt a sharp pain in his throat, desperately enduring it as he said to the other party, "I know some people at the Pentagon, let me go, I'll call them!"
"You are very cunning, but I won't let your cunning succeed!"
Betty held Lex and walked to the window, "If you don't tell me what I want to know, then I will send you to hell, Luthor!"
"Why did you build underground tunnels? Why did you recruit US special operations soldiers? Where is my husband? What are you planning? Tell me!"
Betty asked Lex.
"Don't do that!"
Lex's feet were already suspended in the air; if she let go, he would fall.
"The decision is yours, not mine, Mr. Lex!"
"I!"
Lex, breathing heavily, was about to say something when a voice that startled everyone present suddenly sounded.
"That's enough!"
Betty turned around and saw Eric standing behind them, looking at her coldly.
Seeing Eric approach, Hanna breathed a sigh of relief and quietly put her phone in her pocket.
Her phone was not affected by the signal jammer, and seeing Betty's increasingly incomprehensible behavior, a somewhat frightened Hanna quietly sent Eric a text message.
Seeing Eric appear, Lex's expression also improved; he knew he was saved.
"Eric Kent?"
Betty looked at the suddenly appearing Eric with some surprise; she hadn't expected him to show up here!
Whoosh!
A gust of wind blew, and the next second, Eric appeared in front of Betty.
He grabbed Betty's body and threw her backward.
With a bang, Betty's body hit the floor heavily.
And Lex, released by Betty, lost his balance and fell backward.
Below him was a drop of several meters; if he fell, he would at least be seriously injured if not killed!
Lex, his heart instantly filled with fear and the will to survive, reached out to Eric.
But Eric seemed to have no intention of pulling him up, only looking at him coldly.
In the slowly stretched time, Lex felt for the first time how close Death was to him.
"Save me, Eric!"
Lex's throat emitted a sound as he pleaded with Eric,
His eyes filled with entreaty!
But his body continued to fall backward.
He even felt the double impact of imbalance and dizziness.
Slap!
The next second, Eric grabbed Lex's outstretched hand.
In the last moment of his fall, he grasped Lex's hope of survival.
"Gasp! Gasp!"
Lex gasped for air, half his body hanging outside, looking at Eric with extreme gratitude.
"Eric, thank you! I...I owe you my life!"
Although Lex was shocked to discover Eric's super speed for the first time, his heart was now more filled with gratitude.
