"I originally planned to come here to celebrate Blanche's birthday. I promised her that when she turned seven, I would give her the blessing card she wanted most and take her flying over Gotham City."
Selina, feeling anxious, said, "Blanche has always longed to fly in the sky like a bird. She yearns to leave this place, and I promised to take her flying in the sky. Her health has always been poor, it's all my fault, I should have noticed sooner…"
Looking at the anxious Selina, Eric's expression subtly changed when he heard her mention flying.
"Don't worry, I'll send the best doctors in this city over."
Originally, Eric hadn't paid much attention to these orphans, but after certain past memories were triggered, he changed his mind.
"Thank you." Selina thanked Eric gratefully.
After leaving the orphanage, Eric and Selina were about to rush to the hospital.
In the dark sky, in the distant firmament, a Bat-Signal suddenly lit up.
A white beam of light shot straight into the sky, piercing through the shroud of dark clouds.
Within the white light was the iconic Bat symbol.
Eric looked at the Bat symbol projected in the sky, his eyes full of playful amusement.
"Who lit that Bat-Signal? Commissioner Gordon?" Selina, being familiar with Batman, knew that Commissioner James Gordon often used the Bat-Signal to summon Batman.
She thought for a moment, then turned to Eric and asked.
"I don't know, but Commissioner Gordon should still be having a headache over the prisoners in Arkham and Blackgate Penitentiary. The increasing number of prisoners in those places has already overwhelmed him. If he meets with Batman at this time, I'd even be grateful to him, after all, he'd be helping me catch one of Gotham City's biggest criminals." Eric said coldly, looking at the Bat symbol above his head.
Selina: "…"
She was a close friend of Batman and also had quite complex feelings for Eric, so she didn't want to see the two of them fight or even kill each other over their differing ideologies.
After a moment of silence, she asked Eric, "Can you give Batman a break? I mean, if possible…"
She spoke half a sentence, then shook her head, "Never mind, I know I can't change your minds, neither yours nor Batman's, but I still hope that the conflict between you two doesn't end with one of your Deaths."
"That's not up to me, Selina." Eric did not agree to her request, but shook his head.
"Alright." Selina reached out and grabbed Eric's collar, pulling him closer.
She aimed for Eric's mouth and kissed him.
With her eyes closed, she simply enjoyed the moment of their intimate contact.
She kissed him until she was a little breathless, then she opened her eyes and pulled away from Eric's lips.
"Now, let you enjoy your exclusive sweetness for a bit. Don't get too excited or smug."
Releasing Eric's collar, Selina licked her lips like a cunning cat, revealing a lazy expression she hadn't shown before.
"I won't be accompanying you on the rest of the journey." Selina glanced at the Bat projection in the distance and said, "Remember to be careful."
Eric looked at Selina, who was preparing to leave, and felt the taste she left on his lips. He asked, "Can I take that to mean you're showing concern for me?"
"Interpret it however you like." Selina put on her yellow goggles, ready to leave and rush to the hospital.
"I'll always remember our encounter tonight. Goodbye, Eric!"
Whoosh!
With the shot of her grappling gun, Selina's figure quickly disappeared from the spot.
Eric watched Selina's disappearing back for a long moment, then turned his head to look at the increasingly bright and dazzling Bat-Signal.
On the other side, Batman also saw the Bat-Signal projected in the sky.
After observing from the shadows for a while and confirming it wasn't a trap, Batman landed with a thump.
He folded his black cape behind him and looked at the person behind the Bat-Signal.
A man's silhouette appeared behind the Bat-Signal.
"Gordon?" Seeing the figure somewhat similar to Commissioner Gordon, Batman couldn't help but call out.
"No! Not Gordon." A strange voice came from behind the projector, accompanied by the appearance of a middle-aged man in a suit.
"I don't like it when someone suddenly appears in front of me." Batman said to the man who suddenly appeared.
"I apologize." The middle-aged man apologized to Batman, "No one has seen you for a week, and I didn't know any other way to find you."
"Who are you?"
"You can consider me the President's plenipotentiary representative." The middle-aged man told him.
Behind him were several burly men, who appeared to be bodyguards.
"As far as I know, the President has been imprisoned by Homelander. He has voluntarily stepped down and handed over presidential power to Homelander." Batman said, frowning.
"That is true, but the American government has re-established an interim government. We have elected an interim president to lead us in resisting Homelander's tyranny. Batman, can we talk?" The middle-aged man said sincerely to Batman.
"Here? I don't think that's a good idea. Homelander's hearing allows him to hear anything he wants to hear." Batman turned around, "I don't think such a conspicuous place is suitable for a conversation."
"We won't be here. I know a very secret location, and right now, two communication satellites have suddenly 'mysteriously' collided and are falling out of orbit, heading towards major cities in the United States. He should be busy with that right now."
