Chapter 83 - Chapter 80 Confession

The night was perfect, and the moonlight spilled across the ground, lengthening the old man's lonely shadow.

After the dinner, a slightly tipsy Makarov strolled along the path home. To the east of Magnolia, there was an old house of moderate size, which was Makarov's residence.

With its gray tile roof, drooping eaves, and moss climbing the yellowed brick walls, Makarov could see the house from afar—a house older than himself.

He took out his key, opened the door, and looked at the empty room, a stark contrast to the lively banquet that had just ended. Makarov felt a pang of loneliness.

This house used to be lively.

My father and teachers have both been here with me.

As we grew up, my teammates and I would often gather here to talk about our dreams.

After taking over the guild and starting a family, his son and grandson grew up in this house.

But now, they've all left, and the former liveliness has faded into silence.

"Hey, I'm getting sentimental. I'm really getting old."

After making a few self-criticisms, Makarov decided to wash up and go to bed. He wasn't a fragile person; it was just that his home was a bit quiet, while the guild was always bustling with activity.

After changing into his slightly childlike pajamas, Makarov was about to turn off the lights and go to sleep when an untimely knock sounded at the door.

Who would it be at this moment?

Nothing unexpected happened today, so sensible kids like Erza and Mira wouldn't bother me, and Natsu, being so carefree, wouldn't knock, he'd just shout.

Could it be... Laxus?

Makarov's eyes brightened slightly, and for some reason, a sense of anticipation arose within him. His steps toward opening the door became much lighter.

When he opened the door, it wasn't the person he expected, but Makarov was still somewhat surprised because there were two people there.

Moreover, based on Makarov's understanding of them, these two people shouldn't be at his doorstep at this time.

One is a mysterious mission fanatic who can't be seen for ten days or half a month; the other, to put it nicely, is a lazy bum, but in reality, he's a complete slacker, and going out late at night is like taking his life.

"Mistgang, Noah."

What brings you here so late at night?

Meeting Makarov's suspicious gaze, Noah lifted the thermos in his hand, "Can't we come to you for no reason? We're bringing you some calming soup late at night, and we also want to tell you something."

Scratching his face, Makarov gestured for the two to come inside and talk.

Noah sat down with Mister Gang in the small living room and looked around. The room was simply furnished, with light beige walls and no extra decorative paintings or ornaments. The wooden coffee table had brown rings left from the teacups.

Despite being the esteemed guild master of Fairy Tail and a long-established veteran of the Ten Wizard Saints, Makarov's home was surprisingly simple and unpretentious.

Could it be that he used all his pension money to subsidize the guild...? He really is... I'm going to cry.

After finishing a bowl of hot soup, Makarov smacked his lips. It was clearly chicken soup, but he called it calming soup. This kid was so glib. But since it tasted good, he let it go.

"The soup tastes good, Noah, you're so thoughtful." Makarov knew the restaurant was closed at this time, and assumed Noah had made it for him personally, so he was a little touched.

"It tastes good. It seems Mira's cooking skills have improved a lot."

Seeing that Makarov was alright, Noah served himself a bowl of soup, saying as he did so, "President, you don't know, Mira has been cooking for me every night lately, but her cooking skills are still those of a beginner..."

"The last time I asked Natsu to help me test the poison, he was so disgusted by it that he threw up. And that's Natsu, you know."

Noah was talking enthusiastically, but Mistgang quietly shifted his body, afraid that blood would splatter on him later. He thought his younger brother was really bold to use the chairman as a guinea pig.

Makarov really wanted to kick Noah, but when he thought about how it was his house and he would have to pay for the repairs himself, he reluctantly put the fire down.

Anyway, the chicken soup Mira made this time tasted pretty good.

Wait… Mira! She's cooking for Noah! I don't even get that kind of treatment!

Makarov then realized that although Noah was not a fat pig and Mira was not an innocent little cabbage, it did not prevent him from having a complicated feeling of a little cabbage being rooted up by a pig.

After a long silence, Makarov finally processed what he had said and addressed the two people who were waiting for him: "We've had our soup, it's getting late, let's get down to business."

Noah nodded with a smile. "President, I have found my brother, Mystergan."

Mystergan also took off his mask, revealing a face that looked exactly like Gerald's.

Makarov was not surprised to hear this news.

When Noah first joined the guild, he suspected that Mystogan was his long-lost brother, but Noah denied it with the bizarre excuse that "Mystogan is a powerful mage, so he can't be my brother."

Now that the brothers have recognized each other, Makarov is very curious to know why Noah had so resolutely denied it back then.

"Because my brother isn't from this world. He comes from a parallel world where humans don't have magic in their bodies."

Noah revealed the origins of the world of Edolas, as well as himself and Mystogan.

Makarov was dumbfounded. He had no idea that parallel worlds existed. And in his parallel world, he was the king of a human kingdom and a father who had come to his senses. That sounded pretty cool.

That's so true to me!

After a brief moment of smug satisfaction, Makarov grasped the crux of the problem: his parallel world self had clearly planned to use [Anima] to plunder the magic of the Aslant world.

What made him change his mind, abandon his plan to plunder, and thus create Noah?

Mystgang was also curious about this question. He had been running around for so many years trying to prevent [Anima], but his father had only used it once, almost twenty years ago.

Noah remained silent for a moment, but decided to tell his brother and Makarov everything.

"Nineteen years ago, an unfortunate mage was caught up in Edolas by [Anima]. He was very ambitious and caused a lot of trouble, but was eventually taken down because his magic power could not be replenished."

"In order to survive, the mage provided information about 'infinite magic power,' thus saving his life."

"That mage's name is... Ivan Doraeus."

"And the item he mentioned that could bring 'infinite magic' is called [Lumen Starlight]."
