Fire crackled as a pungent smell filled the air. He was outside the cave and starring at the stars as he waited for the meat to roast.
It was truly beautiful, the sky still looked blue, which gave the stars a blue tint to it.
I looked at my hands, my gloves unravelled into threads before revealing slightly bruised hands. I stared at the back of my palm, just a small arc was on it, dark and alive as if it was surging with power.
The more i looked at, the more i knew how weak i was. In the end nothing really changed, anything even a bit stronger than me could kill me. I was still the same old scared boy, with or without my trial.
Scent of something disgusting burning filled my nostrils.
Dashing towards the meat, night glanced at it with disgust. He thought, if the scent was that bad, how would it taste.
Without delaying any longer, he bit into it. It was amazing, there was a slight tangy flavour which made it had to swallow, but all together, it felt like soft sweet jelly. There was a salty taste behind it but that was due to the salt he made from the ocean water he collected.
Knowing how good it was, night couldn't stop himself from continuing. Leaving all this thoughts aside. he continued eating, completely devouring the meat.
---
The sun rose marking a new day. Darkness retreated into the forest, night's eyes shot open, he didn't get any sleep at all. The thorny sand beneath him and the unbearable cold that surrounded him were mostly the cause but nothing could compare to the feel I of something seeping into his body. It wasn't like shadow devour or when he killed a spawn, it was like something was forcing it self into him. Night tried to ignore it but, it was too annoying to even try to forget, so he didn't get any sleep.
Night got up and tossed aside a blanket made from moss and leaves. Warmth slowly entered through the vines, which meant he had to find out the most he could today. Night got out of the cave and into the forest, everything around him totally ignored him thanks to the hide enchantment.
He took a step backward, the ran, making sure his footsteps made as little sound as possible.
The trees weren't much which meant the trees couldn't be endless. Out of no where, a soundless wail echoed, on instinct, he covered his ear tight then...
[Black sword]
[Lamenting Edge]
Night lunged forward, his eyes wee closed and the wailer was completely unaware of his presence. Swing both swords at its neck, the hex echoed in his ear
[You have slain Twilight ranked beast, drowned wailer]
[Absorbing residual energy]
[Your flames grows darker]
[Your shadow grows stronger]
Night didn't have time to worry about the corpse, he just packed the things he needed into a bag made from snake hide and moss. Then continued forward, as he went deeper, the trees didn't reduced, they seemed to increase, and at a point, it wasn't just a feeling, the sky was completely covered but the branches of the trees which seemed almost endless. His surroundings were cold and dark, he could see, but there was no sign of daylight.
With no choice Left, night dropped his bag, then dismissed the lamenting Edge, he searched for the tallest tree around him.
When the mist suitable one came to sight, he moved towards it, completely focused on maintaining the hid e enchantment as well as be able to use any trait at any time.
Then, he jumped up, before he fell down , he plunged the black sword into the tree. His hand ached, although the chronicle entered, the shock wave was still to much for his body. Focusing back on his current agenda, night climbed up , pushing his weight onto the blade and he climbed up.
Night slipped, but regained his balance. He was only a few meters close to half of the tree when he knew it was hopeless. But still, he didn't give up, stabbing into the tree and pulling himself up, when he got close to a branch close to the top, he stabbed the blade completely until only the edge was visible. Then used the sword's hilth as a stepping stone, he pushed all hid weight onto it then jumped, he grabbed the branch , then rolled onto the top of the tree, the leaves were so thick and vibrant, that he was bearing scared he would fall.
He was still catching his breath, as fresh winds blew into his face. What he saw was different from what he imagined. Although the mountains were still very far, just between them, as a weird like liquid rising into the air. It was very far, yet visible, it was like a veil rising into the sky.
Judging from how far , it was, it would take him lesser time than he imagined, a month and an half would be enough, only if he didn't stop in a place for too long. .
He was relieved there was a goal in sight, but what about what's beyond it, would it be a way to get back to the real world, or another hell entirely.
Then out of nowhere, something pushed him. He plunged down to the ground, the mere height would be enough to kill him, thinking fast, night switched into his shadow form. When he landed , no sound was made, his heart was beating rapidly.
The only thing he could say was, what the hell was that.
Not only did it not sense its presence, it nearly killed him. Somehow, night was able to feel it, something crawling down from the top. It wasn't serpentine like the wailers, but different entirely, its ghostly white scales easily showed it was reptile, its large physic was far more terrifying than the wailers, it had legs like a crocodile but its fangs and oddly shaped body and colour said other wise. Somehow, he got i to another death situation?.
The spawn lunged at him, sparks of light swirled as two blades came into existence. The moment the two clashed, the shock wave sent multiple trees shaking, nearly falling down.
