Chapter 177 - Chapter 177 Imaginary Enemy

Before, when Ares had no money, he felt that having money was better than anything else in this world. But now, after earning money through Veleslana, he found that in this world, having the title of a God Slayers was more useful than anything else.

Thanks to Marquis Voban, who swept through the magical societies on the European continent during the Middle Ages, before this old demon king, people generally lacked sufficient understanding and reverence for God Slayers. It was Marquis Voban who personally demonstrated to these aristocratic magical societies in Europe what an absolute power gap was, otherwise, they would never have been so subservient to the demon kings.

Just like now, Ares and Liliyana merely met by chance, and their acquaintance was only slightly better than that of strangers. He didn't demand that the magical society behind Liliyana, the "Bronze Black Cross," pledge allegiance to him. However, when Ares asked Liliyana to make a phone call for him, she immediately, without a word, not only called her childhood friend but also specifically emphasized that her friend must come here in person to "have an audience" with Ares.

Although Ares felt that these Italian magical societies were being overly ceremonial and seemed quite ridiculous, considering that he still had to find a way to deal with Veleslana, the earth veins buried in this ruin and the accumulated spiritual energy were useful to him. Therefore, Ares tacitly approved Liliyana's actions.

"Thank you for your trouble, Miss Liliyana."

Watching Liliyana finish handling the matter, Ares thanked her.

"You flatter me, King." Liliyana replied, somewhat overwhelmed: "I merely did a trivial thing, how dare I accept your thanks?"

"Ah, while I understand your feelings, can we speak normally?"

Seeing Liliyana's somewhat reserved demeanor, Ares rubbed the back of his head and said to her:

"I'm more accustomed to the way we talked when we first met. Don't worry, I'm not crazy; I won't threaten to sink Sardinia into the sea at every turn."

"This… as Your will." Liliyana reluctantly agreed to Ares's request, then stood to the side, constantly inhaling and exhaling, trying hard to adjust her emotional state.

Seeing the girl as nervous as a rookie actor about to go on stage, Ares continued:

"By the way, I'll be staying here to deal with some matters. If you have something to do, you can leave first."

"No, no, no, how can we let you stay alone in such a desolate wilderness?"

Liliyana quickly said:

"At the very least, please allow our Bronze Black Cross to have the opportunity to host you…"

Ares turned to look at her. Under Ares's gaze, Liliyana lowered her head, hands clasped in front of her, looking somewhat nervous.

"Relax." Ares watched her for a moment, then suddenly smiled: "I'm not going to use the ruins here to summon another God of Disobedience."

"That's good." Liliyana let out a sigh of relief, unconsciously muttering a phrase, then immediately reacted, waving her hands repeatedly, explaining to Ares: "No, King, I didn't mean to doubt you."

Ares waved his hand, not taking it to heart. In fact, Liliyana's reaction was not surprising. Because she had witch blood, she was once abducted by Marquis Voban in her childhood. That God Slayers wanted to use the spiritual power of these witches to summon Gods of Disobedience. This strange uncle left a huge psychological shadow on the then-surviving Liliyana.

"Hmm, it's fine if you doubt me, that's normal. However, at present, I really don't need to summon another God of Disobedience here." Ares's words instantly changed Liliyana's expression: "Anyway, there's still a God of Disobedience wandering on this island."

"What?" Liliyana anxiously asked: "Is that true?"

"Of course it's true. Why would I bother making up such a lie to deceive you?"

Ares said:

"Didn't you just see it? The broken blade stuck in Melqart's chest. He's hiding here to recover from his injuries. So who injured him? It couldn't possibly have been himself, could it?"

Liliyana's face grew increasingly worse. Like her childhood friend from the Red Copper Black Cross, she also accepted a mission from her magical society's leader to investigate the recent signs of a God of Disobedience manifesting on Sardinia.

After tracing the clues, she followed them from Cagliari to here. She initially thought that this ruin merely showed signs of a God of Disobedience manifesting, and thus intended to seal this soon-to-be-manifested God of Disobedience before it fully appeared.

The details of that period need no further mention. Melqart had already manifested and was even injured. The God of Disobedience was beyond Liliyana's capabilities, and so, in the end, she witnessed the birth of a new God Slayers, Ares.

However, Liliyana originally thought that only Melqart, this single God of Disobedience, had manifested on Sardinia, and that the divine beast disturbances in Cagliari and other places were also caused by Melqart. But what she hadn't expected was that there was actually another powerful God of Disobedience on Sardinia capable of injuring the Divine King Melqart.

Thus, the crisis on Sardinia remained unresolved, and the people of the entire region were still under the threat of Gods of Disobedience.

"I'm sorry, King, I'd like to excuse myself for a moment, if that's alright?" Liliyana requested of Ares: "I must report this to my magical society."

"Go ahead, go ahead." Ares happened to want this girl, whose attitude had changed too drastically, to be further away from him. He still had things to do in this ruin.

So, after getting Ares's approval, Liliyana quickly left the Nuraghe ruins, while Ares returned to the underground temple where Melqart had been. After temporarily repairing the underground temple using his authority, Ares began to prepare to deal with the Persian God of WarVeleslana.

Although with his current strength, Ares was fully capable of directly defeating Veleslana, it was still the same saying: better safe than sorry.

Melqart did not possess the divine authority of victory; he was too ancient. In the era when the ancient Phoenician worshipped him, people had not yet invented the concept of "victory."

Veleslana, however, possessed a very clear divine authority of victory. A God of Disobedience with such divine authority should not be underestimated.

Ares himself, in his mind, calculated that such people possessed an "Intuition EX" level of inherent skill, making it impossible to defeat them, not to mention even ambushing them.

Of course, Veleslana was certainly not that abnormal, otherwise, he wouldn't have fought Melqart to a draw. But this still didn't stop Ares from treating him as such a high-standard imaginary enemy. After all, setting high standards for the enemy meant that as long as the enemy's strength was below the standard, they would definitely die a complete death.

So, after a brief calculation, Ares began his arrangements.

First, it was still the traditional art of creating human figures. Generally speaking, God Slayers, after killing a God of Disobedience, would usually only inherit one of the slain God of Disobedience's authorities. This is generally why God Slayers are weaker than Gods of Disobedience; in terms of the number of authorities, Gods of Disobedience have a natural advantage. However, because Ares came with a sort of cheat, he obtained all of Divine King Melqart's authorities from the God of Disobedience Melqart. These authorities, if distributed a bit, could create several God Slayers who had just achieved their first God Slayers.

And this situation was Ares's advantage. Facing Veleslana's "common sense of this world," he possessed not only unconventional power but also an information advantage over the Persian God of War.

If these information advantages were utilized well, defeating an enemy of the level Ares envisioned would not be entirely impossible.
