Chapter 195: A Fluttering Heart

Buzz—!

The seven-colored light gradually faded. As a fair, slender leg stepped forward and delicate jade-like feet touched the ground, a stunning, seductive face filled Xiao Yuan's entire view—formerly occupied only by the graceful curves before him.

In a flash of red light, an elegant red robe materialized over her body, covering much of the breathtaking view.

Xiao Yuan's pupils contracted, and his instinct was to retreat. But immediately, a powerful pressure bore down on him, freezing his breath.

Before him, that face—beautiful enough to bring ruin to kingdoms—smiled faintly, and her cold voice rang out, devoid of emotion:

"You've got guts, treating this queen as a pet?"

Even with Xiao Yuan's usual composure, he was now drenched in sweat.

Had he known Medusa would awaken, he would've never fed the Sky Swallowing Python that drop of blood.

"Your Majesty, I've actually missed you all this time."

Xiao Yuan steadied himself and managed a smile.

"Oh? Missed me? Then why didn't you find a way to free me from the Sky Swallowing Python's suppression?"

Medusa leaned in, until their noses nearly touched, her gaze locking onto his with amused intensity.

That close, her luscious red lips and the faint, enchanting fragrance in her breath made Xiao Yuan's heart pound. He nearly lost control, tempted to lean in.

But Xiao Yuan wasn't one to gamble with his life. He said instead,

"Your Majesty, I truly didn't know your evolution would create a second soul."

"I don't believe you. You knew leaving me with the serpent clan was the best path for me."

Medusa's finger traced from his chest to his throat, stopping at his Adam's apple.

A slight press, and he'd be silenced forever.

Yet, faced with the queen's silent threat, Xiao Yuan unexpectedly laughed.

"What's so funny?" she asked, brows tightening and her tone turning icy.

"Your Majesty," Xiao Yuan said calmly, "the serpent clan needs Queen Medusa, not the Sky Swallowing Python. If they got their hands on a naive, ignorant beast like her, do you think you'd ever return to your throne?"

Medusa's eyes grew sharp with killing intent. The pressure of a Dou Zong crushed down, making even Xiao Yuan's Dou Wang-level body creak.

"Enough," he said. "If I lie, you say I'm hiding things. If I tell the truth, you get mad. Either way, you might kill me. But you know this: you can't kill me… and you can't leave me either."

He suddenly grasped the finger resting at his throat.

Cool. Smooth. Silken.

A flicker of killing intent sparked in Medusa's eyes. She prepared to strike—

But her body shuddered violently. Her gaze flickered.

Just then, an old man in black robes appeared on a distant cliff. Seeing the almost flirtatious standoff, he groaned inwardly, realizing he'd arrived at the worst possible time.

Medusa's flickering expression suddenly hardened again. She shot Xiao Yuan a glare, then turned her fierce gaze on the intruding Su Qian.

Feeling the surging power within her, Su Qian visibly shuddered. Before he could even process how Xiao Yuan had gotten entangled with such a monster of a woman, a powerful blast came roaring his way.

His sleeves whipped out a counterforce, but Medusa—already equal in strength to Su Qian and now enraged—wasn't holding back.

Su Qian grunted, staggering back three steps.

With no outlet for her fury, Medusa unleashed combo after combo, pummeling the old elder.

Su Qian was bewildered. Why the hell am I being attacked?!

Scrambling to parry, he tried to ask what was going on. But Medusa wasn't listening. She summoned a red sword and chased him down again.

Xiao Yuan couldn't watch any longer. Activating his Thunder Flash and summoning his Purple Cloud Wings, he dashed between them just as Medusa's blade was about to strike.

The sword stopped a mere inch above his head. The sharp wind from its aura sliced off his hair clasp, sending his long black hair billowing.

His handsome face now framed in windblown locks, the clash of beauty between the two was so radiant it made the heavens look dim.

Su Qian blinked and retreated to a distance, watching the intense face-off in stunned silence.

What… what the hell are these kids playing at?

"Ahem… I came at a bad time. You two carry on."

Su Qian cleared his throat, then added for dignity,

"Xiao Yuan, once you've handled your personal affairs, come see me."

Then, under Medusa's withering glare, he vanished in a blink. No way was he hanging around for this drama.

"You really want to die?"

Medusa's killing intent surged as she lowered her blade to Xiao Yuan's throat.

"I don't," he replied. "But I hate being threatened."

Step by step, he walked toward her. Before she could react, he pulled her into an embrace.

Her breath hitched, stunned by the sudden intimacy.

How dare he?

She flared with killing intent. Energy began to surge to obliterate him.

But the Sky Swallowing Python, still sharing her body, resisted.

She couldn't kill him. Not right now.

Instead, she found herself being hugged even tighter.

Even worse, a terrifying sense of calm and safety began to creep in.

She hadn't felt that in years.

Once, she gave up on expecting that kind of comfort from anyone.

But now, this boy—so weak in comparison—had stirred it again.

Meanwhile, Xiao Yuan savored the moment.

So soft, so warm. So fragrant.

Perfection.

"My dear queen," he whispered in her ear. "Next time we meet, please don't threaten me again. Also, I remember how you nearly blew me up last time. Someday, I'll return the favor."

His breath tickled her ear, and her body trembled involuntarily.

"You won't get the chance," she retorted coldly. "Next time, I'll kill you—even if I have to risk losing to the python."

And with that, seven-colored light flared. The stunning woman vanished, replaced by a palm-sized snake that darted into Xiao Yuan's palm, affectionately nuzzling his hand and flicking her tongue joyfully.

"That drop of blood... awakened some berserk-like power in your bloodline?"

Xiao Yuan raised a brow at the message from the Sky Swallowing Python and let out a relieved sigh.

Good thing it didn't hurt her. But judging from earlier, that blood really wasn't for the faint-hearted.

Forget the blood infusion for now. Better keep it for himself.

Still, if he could dilute it, maybe he could craft a potion to safely boost someone's strength…

Thoughtfully nodding, Xiao Yuan took flight toward Su Qian's last location.
