Chapter 442 - Chapter 443: The Shrine Maiden Chiyome

Yuto followed the direction Kidai had pointed and strolled along.

The civilians of the Land of Demons seemed extremely wary of their country's shrine maiden.

According to the movie in the original story, the shrine maiden of the Land of Demons was a girl named Chiyome, who possessed the ability to foresee the deaths of those around her.

This was why the people of the Land of Demons feared and were wary of the shrine maiden Chiyome.

After all, though everyone knew they would die one day, being told when you would die was an entirely different matter. It was truly a terrible and mentally devastating thing.

Therefore.

What interested Yuto was Chiyome's ability to foresee others' deaths and the somewhat mysterious power of the shrine maiden.

This power to foresee deaths, in Yuto's view, already touched upon the dimension of time.

The saying "Time is supreme, space is king" was no empty phrase.

Even in the original story, though many possessed Six Paths-level power, they at most had spatial abilities. Powers involving time were exceedingly rare.

This alone proved that power over the dimension of time was even harder to obtain than spatial abilities.

Moreover, from the ancient texts and records of the Hyuga clan, Yuto had learned that in ancient times, there existed a power capable of opposing Kaguya Otsutsuki.

What exactly this power was, Yuto did not know.

But among the two remaining power systems in the shinobi world, aside from chakra, only the Land of Demons' shrine maidens represented a unique energy system.

"I hope for a good harvest."

Yuto wore a faint smile as he looked at the ancient, towering, solemn palace-like structure not far away.

To the left of this building stood a small mountain, with a clear waterfall cascading down from its peak, producing a rushing water sound.

The flowing water split into two channels through what appeared to be man-made waterways – one half entering the normal channel below, the other flowing directly into the palace-like structure.

"The Feudal Lord's mansion in the Land of Fire might not be as impressive as this building."

Yuto's face showed surprise as he exclaimed.

Soon.

Yuto stood before the ancient palace's gate.

He could clearly see that on either side of the gate stood tall watchtowers.

People stood at the top of the towers, keeping watch and patrolling.

As Yuto observed, he naturally drew the attention of the guards at the gate.

"Sir, loitering is not permitted here. Please leave immediately."

One of the guards stepped forward, blocking Yuto's path, and spoke coldly.

The guard's tone was cold but not overbearing. He had clearly noticed that Yuto was not from the Land of Demons.

"I have come specifically to visit your shrine maiden today."

"By the way, I am from Kirigakure. My name is Yuto."

Yuto wore a faint smile and spoke calmly.

The moment the guard heard "Kirigakure," his expression shifted slightly.

But when he heard "Yuto," the guard's face turned deathly pale in an instant, and he stumbled back several steps in terror.

To the guard, Yuto's gentle smile was like a devil's grin. Cold sweat drenched his entire body.

Though the Land of Demons was a small country, its information networks were not backward. Kirigakure's destruction of Konoha had been a major event that shook the entire shinobi world.

How could the Land of Demons not know?

"No! No!!"

"The First Mizukage Yuto is here! Kirigakure is about to invade!!"

The guard scrambled backward, shouting in panic.

Yuto's expression froze at this.

When had he ever said he would invade the Land of Demons?

And why were the guards so panicked? Kirigakure was a village that loved peace!

Yuto wore a speechless expression as he watched the guards of the Land of Demons tense up at the guard's shouting.

In a short time, fifty or sixty soldiers rushed to the scene, weapons in hand, their legs trembling as they looked at Yuto.

"I simply want to see your shrine maiden."

Yuto wore an exasperated expression and opened his palms, showing he posed no threat.

Despite his words.

The soldiers of the Land of Demons still blocked the gate firmly, looking prepared to sacrifice their lives.

Facing this situation, Yuto had little patience. He was considering whether to simply charge through when.

The previously closed gate suddenly opened.

A man wearing a black top hat, dressed in a samurai robe, and wearing black glasses emerged quickly from the ancient palace.

Seeing this man appear, the soldiers guarding the gate immediately made way.

"All of you, put down your weapons."

The man with black glasses spoke with authority, his voice carrying a commanding tone.

The soldiers exchanged glances and ultimately lowered their weapons.

Only then did the man with black glasses breathe a sigh of relief. With a nervous and respectful expression, he quickly walked toward Yuto.

"I am the guard of the Land of Demons' shrine maiden – Ashidzu. Greetings, Lord Yuto."

Ashidzu bowed deeply before Yuto, his expression slightly nervous.

"Take me to see your shrine maiden."

Yuto waved his hand casually and spoke indifferently.

Ashidzu's expression shifted, and a look of hesitation crossed his face.

Yuto glanced at Ashidzu. Without the man needing to speak, Yuto understood his concern.

"Rest assured. If I truly intended to do something, do you think these people could stop me?"

Yuto's voice already carried a trace of impatience and disdain.

Though the words were harsh, Ashidzu felt a heavy weight lift from his heart.

Even Konoha, the strongest of the Five Great Shinobi Villages, had fallen to Kirigakure. How could their small Land of Demons hope to stop him?

"Lord Yuto, this way, please?"

Ashidzu took a deep breath, bowed slightly, and gestured for Yuto to follow.

As he turned, a deep worry flickered in Ashidzu's eyes.

He could not fathom why Yuto, one of the strongest beings in the shinobi world, had suddenly appeared in their Land of Demons. What was his purpose?

He hoped it would not bring disaster to the Land of Demons.

Ashidzu sighed helplessly. He could only hope that when their shrine maiden spoke, she would not be as blunt as usual.

If she offended this important figure, the entire Land of Demons would likely pay a heavy price.

Under Ashidzu's guidance.

Yuto looked around as if on a tour, constantly gazing about and letting out occasional exclamations.

"These buildings all seem to have some age to them?"

Yuto spoke with an appreciative expression, full of interest.

"You are correct, Lord Yuto."

"Our Land of Demons is relatively remote, and with no shinobi to speak of, we have not experienced any wars."

"These buildings have existed since as long as I can remember – reportedly for several hundred years. However, due to their age, they require considerable effort to renovate every so often."

Ashidzu lowered his head and explained carefully.

Their walking pace was not slow. Though there were many patrolling soldiers along the way, Ashidzu's status was clearly not low. No soldier attempted to stop them.

However, the soldiers' eyes all watched Yuto with undisguised tension and vigilance.

Soon.

Under Ashidzu's guidance, Yuto arrived at the imposing residence at the center.

Ashidzu stepped forward and pulled open the carved wooden doors, gesturing for Yuto to enter.

Seeing this.

Yuto raised an eyebrow slightly. This shrine maiden certainly had quite the airs. He felt that even visiting a Feudal Lord might not involve this much trouble.

But from these details, Yuto could see the special status of shrine maiden Chiyome in the Land of Demons.

Yuto did not mind. With a calm expression, he strode directly inside, and Ashidzu followed closely behind with a grave expression.

Stepping into the main hall.

Yuto saw Chiyome seated at the highest point, wearing a golden crown and a white shrine maiden outer robe with red stripes similar to a kimono, her eyes closed.

Ashidzu quickly walked up from the side and knelt on both knees before Chiyome, whispering something softly.

Hearing Ashidzu's words.

Chiyome's closed eyes slowly opened, revealing dual-colored pupils – black on the outer ring and white in the center.

"I already told you, I didn't foresee anyone's death. What were you worried about, Ashidzu?"

Chiyome's face held a cold expression, and her tone was somewhat impatient.

Hearing their shrine maiden's words, Ashidzu showed a bitter smile.

"Lord Yuto, this is Lady Chiyome."

Ashidzu hastily introduced Yuto, who stood opposite, terrified of offending him.

Chiyome's expression remained cold, but her eyes flickered with curiosity as she looked at Yuto.

"I thought you would be an old man. You're much younger than I imagined. Are you really the First Mizukage of Kirigakure?"

After sizing Yuto up, Chiyome spoke to Ashidzu with a skeptical tone.

The moment these words came out.

Ashidzu's body trembled, and cold sweat instantly appeared on his forehead.
